[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 582809] Re: Synaptics Clickpad touchpad buttons are not working
I was bored and thought since I can't get the drivers to build I would try something out for the heck of it. So I went ahead and got the suse package from hp which can be found here: http://h2.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=5060880&swItem=ob-97383-1&prodNameId=5060882&swEnvOID=2020&swLang=13&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=0 After downloading it and finally getting it to extract I used alien to convert it, included scripts, to a deb. Then I went ahead and installed the deb. Surprisingly it installed and it even created menu entries eg: Menu>Control Center>Hardware>Touchpad which points to /opt/Synaptics/bin/SynTPCpl I then ran this in terminal as su to check out what happens and basically I'd guess there are invalid symlinks which isn't surprising, but if anyone could check it out this is the first I received: /opt/Synaptics/bin/SynTPCpl: error while loading shared libraries: libwx_gtk2u-2.8.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I stopped here as I'm not sure if I'll ever have any real luck this route or if the drivers will ever actually work this way, but I thought it was worth a shot lol. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/582809 Title: Synaptics Clickpad touchpad buttons are not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/582809/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 870804] [NEW] xorg issue when lid is opened
Public bug reported: dell latitude E5400, ubuntu 10.10 power-management is set up so "do nothing" is selected for "when laptop lid is closed" both on ac power and battery power normally everything works fine, BUT... while i open the lid, the screen goes blank for a while and the first action i perform is VERY slow. the screen is blinking for a while, a then it seems to re-adjust screen resolution (that was already fine). when the very first action is performed (usually just clicking on a window!) the system works fine. this is a little bit annoying, buth nothing critical... the real bug is that SOMETIMES (randomly, i guess), the first action after lid is open causes the system to be blocked for a few minutes... sometimes 10, sometimes more. i can't do anything: the cursor disappears, i can't switch to another terminal. the screen is not blank, but everything is stuck. if i log in with ssh, top shows Xorg consuming 80% of cpu. i can kill the session, but this causes all my opened files to be closed (unsaved!). this is my ~/.config/monitors.xml : no LPL 0x0138 0x 1440 900 60 0 0 normal no no no Xorg.conf is not present my massages log is full up of this: ... [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 550625] Re: Alps touchpad is recognized but synaptics clients and scrolling do not work
Report on Dell E6420, alps version 0.9 Trackstick - perfect - buttons work, including wheel emulation with middle one - trackstick works Touchpad - usual one finger movement works - two finger scroll works (only in vertical direction, not sure if it's supposed to work in horizontal too) - side scroll doesn't work in either direction - tap to click doesn't work, cursor just jumps a little, no button event is generated - disable while typing doesn't work (works when I run syndaemon, which is probably better way to do it anyway) One little suggestion, could you please add alps module version to the stuff it prints on modprobe? After few days of using it, I wasn't sure which version I had and had to recompile to do the tests. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 870569] [NEW] fglrx doesn't play nice with gnome3
Public bug reported: I'm using oneiric, fully up to date. The biggest problem with the driver is while using gnome3, the image often stutters and the top bar isn't drawn properly but ends up all blue, see the attached screenshot. Furthermore, the screen is all scrambled while booting and shutting down, instead of showing the splash screen. This is not a huge problem of course, but more a symptom of a problem with the graphics card or driver ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: fglrx 2:8.881-0ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-12.20-generic 3.0.4 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu2 Architecture: i386 CompizPlugins: [core, bailer, detection, composite, opengl, compiztoolbox, decor, mousepoll, imgpng, regex, wall, resize, move, place, vpswitch, snap, session, grid, gnomecompat, animation, expo, unitymtgrabhandles, workarounds, ezoom, fade, scale, unityshell] CompositorRunning: None Date: Sat Oct 8 10:57:56 2011 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: oneiric DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: fglrx, 8.881, 3.0.0-12-generic, i686: installed EcryptfsInUse: Yes GraphicsCard: ATI Technologies Inc RV730XT [Radeon HD 4670] [1002:9490] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: XFX Pine Group Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 550625] Re: Alps touchpad is recognized but synaptics clients and scrolling do not work
v0.9 seems to work well on my Dell E6410 now that I'm running Natty. (Just upgraded from Maverick--and had to fight with a broken GRUB due to the upgrade! There's a reason I'm 6 months out of date.) Two-finger scrolling works, horizontal and vertical edge scrolling work, and it seems to disable the touchpad when typing. I cannot seem to affect the pointer speed with the "Sensitivity" adjustment on the "General" tab of Mouse preferences, but the "Acceleration" slider definitely has an effect. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 870527] [NEW] Graffics don't work after system update
You have been subscribed to a public bug: After downloading and installing the latest security update as of 6th October 2011 the graphics no longer work. The Ubuntu background is displayed but if I move my mouse pointer, pointers are left as a permanent trail. The task bars at the top and bottom of the screen do not display and the icons for applications do not display. I am using a Compaq Evo 1.7Ghz intel P4 with 750Meg of Ram and a Dell 19" TFT monitor. Every thing works fine on a clean install of 10.04.3 LTD from the live CD but as soon as I update the system fails to boot correctly. I have disabled all updates until the bug is fixed. ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete -- Graffics don't work after system update https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/870527 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 870475] [NEW] Disable touchpad when plugging in mouse
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I hate it when I write on my laptop and by hand is accidentially touching the touchpad with my wrist, the cursor ist placed anywhere, and i have to recover the scrambled text then. In GNOME3 there is an option to disable the touchpad when typing, but this doesn't help in some cases - at least the time after typing before the TP gets enabled again is to short IMHO. This is an idea at http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/554";>Ubuntu brainstorm as well. There is a simple and relatively easy-to-implement solution for Fedora http://www.howtoforge.com/how-to-auto-disable-the-touchpad-when-the-mouse-is-plugged-in-fedora-13";>here. This would be applicable to Ubuntu as well (as the comments say) - only the text "PS/2 Generic Mouse", "USB Optical Mouse" etc. may be different ("The enable/disable commands may be different for different hardware"). Maybe there is another (better?) solution to find out what device is connected with udev. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 747092] Re: [FUJITSU FMVNP2PL] edge scrolling does not work
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report on this issue. However, given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during any development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all. Therefore, we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request further testing. This is such a request. We have noted that there is a newer version of the development kernel than the one you last tested when this issue was found. Please test again with the newer kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still exists or not. If the bug still exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to Confirmed. If the bug no longer exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to Fix Released. Thank you for your help, we really do appreciate it. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete ** Tags added: kernel-request-3.0.0-12.20 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/747092 Title: [FUJITSU FMVNP2PL] edge scrolling does not work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/747092/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
