[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 710762] Re: Middle mouse button no longer works
I have a Microsoft PS/2 mouse with track wheel. After upgrading from Ubuntu 9.10 to Lubuntu 11.10, I had to apply the evdev Emulate3Buttons change to /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/ to get the middle button back. There you go ... sameo sameo for Oneiric. Strongly agree with a substantial fix, aka not in the form of release notes. I don't read release notes, but just out of curiosity, it's only in the 11.04 release notes, not 11.10. It may seem old news to maintainers but users do not follow release notes, esp. older releases'. I am facing this issue on Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick, too. Qt 4.7.0 running on Ubuntu 10.10 is no more able to find OpenGL after the X server update to 1.9.0-0ubuntu7.5, which I did on Oct 19, 2011. I reported a bug on Qt, too, but would like to open discussion if there are other SW that are affected by the X server update on other versions of Ubuntu but 10.04. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 877905] Re: [lucid] glx regression after upgrading xorg-server packages to versions in USN-1232-1
@Marc: I downloaded versions ...7.3 from the web page you mentioned in your message #55. When trying to install them Ubuntu claims that there already are newer versions installed and refuses to continue. When using Synaptic for removing the ...7.5 versions the tool picks up that long a list of other xserver packages to be removed that I don't dare to go on. Is there any elegant way to get ...7.3 versions installed without risking too much? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 873482] Re: elantech: Touchpad always reports 3 finger tap as 1 finger tap
Patch seems to work sort of here (asus u52f). For some reason it seems to be really finicky detecting 3 fingers, but I don't know if thats due to your patch or something else though. Other distros detected 3 fine. Using the Nvidia X Server control panel, I can see that the laptop's display is a Seiko/Epson panel and, when I click the Detect displays button I do get the second display (a flat panel monitor),but it is labelled: CRT-0 disabled. I've activated the drivers in the Additional drivers panel twice and used Synaptic to run Nvidia-update (followed by a restart). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 877905] Re: [lucid] glx regression after upgrading xorg-server packages to versions in USN-1232-1
Thanks George, your guidance 'sudo dpkg -i package.deb' worked. But unfortunately replacing version 2:1.9.0-0ubuntu7.5 with 2:1.9.0-0ubuntu7.3 did not make my Qt working. It still does not find OpenGL. Is there any log somewhere in Ubuntu where I could check what version of X server I had when it worked? If found I possibly could dig it out and install back. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 879092] [NEW] cannot switch users if 3 or more users are logged in
Public bug reported: When three (or presumably more) users (local or LDAP) are logged in, locking the screen and pressing the Switch User button on the unlock screen dialog causes the screen to flash several times (similar to what occurs when changing monitor resolution), then going blank. Moving the mouse or pressing keys causes the switch user dialog to come up again for the same user, making it impossible to switch users. This is consistently reproducible. Sometimes, instead of dropping back to the switch user dialog, it drops to a blank screen with a blinking cursor, or a blank screen with the message mountall: Disconnnected from Plymouth. We tried updating one workstation to Oneiric. The issue was still present, except it would always drop down to the blank screen, instead of giving you the same switch user dialog. This would suggest that it tries to switch to the next tty to start a new X session but is unable to start the new X session. We have 12 workstations with ATI cards (model is in the lspci output) and 6 with Nvidia cards using the same image. This issue only occurs on (all) the workstations with the ATI cards, not the ones with Nvidia cards. Downloading the driver from ATI's website and installing it manually made no difference. fglrxinfo output is below. Seems the 3d screensaver was to blame. After configuring the system to not launch any screensaver but just put the monitor to sleep the system didn't show the problem anymore. My guess is there is a bug in the video driver that shows when the 3d section of the video card is used. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/560433 Title: [clarkdale] Xorg freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/560433/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 838577] Re: GNOME Shell display problems with FGLRX
Thanks. I tried that: sudo ./ati-driver-installer-11-9-x86.x86_64.run But I get this: [Error]A previous installation of fglrx driver detected to be loaded. User must uninstall existing fglrx driver or run install with force option. Forcing the installation is not recommended. I also tried to run: sudo aptitude purge fglrx And then run the latest ATI install, but it always complains about fglrx still being installed. I suspect it's due to running ATI graphics with fglrx since I don't have issues on my netbook. Basically the top panel is completely garbled and a mess of different colours; at times I can notice the global menu from the Unity panel in the background of the Gnome Shell panel. Also various letters in the panel text appear as teal-coloured rectangles of various sizes. I tried to get a screenshot, but the screenshot tool just displays an empty wallpaper. Display issues also occur for example in the Alt+F2 dialogue box.
