[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 855943] Re: Installing then uninstalling FGLRX makes Oneiric's Unity unbootable
But "link group x86_64-linux-gnu_gl_conf is broken" itself is NOT fglrx problem as the same happens even without fglrx installed! Inability to circumvent it or sometimes uninstall correctly may be, of course. I don't have "unbootable" problem, but GL still does NOT work normally on Oneiric, with versions - fglrx, fglrx-updates and downloaded Catalyst (the same which DID work perfectly on Lucid!) - differing in specific failures. It's about mesa GL packages for Oneiric: libgl1-mesa-dri libgl1-mesa-glx libglapi-mesa libglu1-mesa In Synaptic they all are flagged as installed, but "installed files" lists are unavailable because packages are not installed, and an attempt to reinstall any of them causes this very error. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/855943 Title: Installing then uninstalling FGLRX makes Oneiric's Unity unbootable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz-core/+bug/855943/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 882841] Re: Mouse pointer becomes invisible in most windows
The mouse pointer is invisible everywhere on screen. Sometimes, when the region it's in requires a different pointer than the default arrow (pointing finger, I-beam, etc), it will be visible, and on-screen objects always react to the presence of the mouse pointer, even when it can't be seen. I'm really not sure in what way I could make it more clear (pardon the pun) that the mouse pointer has disappeared ever since I upgraded to Ubuntu 11.10. I could better understand your criticism & better help you understand the issue I'm reporting if you could (for lack of a better term) elaborate and clarify what it is that's unclear or in need of elaboration? It's frustrating not knowing what information you seek from me regarding this issue, and doubly frustrating that every attempt at using the mouse to navigate within this website or within the windowed environment is a matter of educated guesswork, since I can't see where I'm pointing the mouse. To my mind, describing the mouse pointer as invisible captures the elements of the problem in one word. It's not that it doesn't exist, for, like the invisible man, it still interacts with its surroundings, but, also like the invisible man, it can no longer be seen. The only time it becomes visible is when the mouse pointer changes from the arrow to another form. I want to help resolve this issue, but I can't give responsive answers without specific questions. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882841 Title: Mouse pointer becomes invisible in most windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/882841/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 861268] Re: text corruption in terminals (xterm, urxvt) and emacs
When you file bugs against xorg, please always include your kernel and X logs, photo examples, and other relevant information. The command: apport-collect 861268 should help gather this information. The photos you'll need to take manually (generally X corruption at the driver level doesn't show up in screenshots.) [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 882535] [NEW] LibreOffice Writer regularly suddenly crashes in a working session.
You have been subscribed to a public bug: WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENS When editing a document in LibreOffice Writer, this package or the whole system suddenly crashes sometimes. I cannot reconstruct exactly under which circumstances this happens - it happens always in the middle of an intense working session. After the crash, the system automatically restarts. I have been experiencing this problem ever since the latest versions of OpenOffice before the transit to LibreOffice. Recently, I found at least an effective workaround - as explained here below. WORKAROUND The workaround I have found, consist of preventive and curative measures. WORKAROUND - PREVENTIVE MEASURES When editing the document, I save it after each phrase via the command CONTROL-S. Each +/- 5 minutes, I go back to the folder where the document is: via Dolphin. First I refresh the document list via F5. Than I copy the document into a backup-document under another name. WORKAROUND - CURATIVE MEASURES After coming in the system again after such a crash, I go back to the document in which I have been working just before the crash: via Dolphin. After clicking at the document, the LibreOffice document recovery dialogue starts. I choose the option "Open the read-only document". Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 777493] Re: nvidia drivers activated but not in use on natty 11.04
hi Martin Ueding, froum your Output, I can see, that you do not have the proprietary driver installed, but the opensource-driver nouveau. Look at this line in your Output: configuration: driver=nouveau latency=0 For getting things to work correctly, you need to install the proprietary driver. For this, go to the controlcenter and there go to additional drivers. Then activate the proprietary driver. This uninstalls the nouveau-driver. And in my eyes, the nouveau-driver is really dangerous, because with this, the graphuccard turns way to hot. After having installed the proprietary driver, you need to reboot your machine to get the driver working. Attention: the Output of jockey is still wrong. But in my further postings, I gave hints, how to check, that the driver is working and to show you, that this is not a bug in nvidia anymore but in jockey-gtk. So look at my previous postings for checking, that your driver is working correctly. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 859474] Re: Dragging with touchpad unusable
I'm also effected by this and it is not restricted to unity or gnome. I am having the same problem in xfce. As has been explained by Alti El at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input- synaptics/+bug/874675 , the action to drag seems to have gone from (Tap)+(Press) to (Tap)+(Press and Drag) The frustration is then initiating the drag on the second touch before the timeout. Increasing the timeout certainly makes it more possible, but there are many times when I would previously pause, whilst pressing my finger, before I'd initiate dragging. I now have to arbitrarily move to initiate the drag before the timeout before I can pause to work carefully. There's no reason the action should require the drag to be initiated before a timeout. A double click can be represented by a double tap, so as long as the finger is removed on the second tap before a timeout it will register as a double click, and if the finger isn't removed before the timeout it registers as a drag. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/859474 Title: Dragging with touchpad unusable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/859474/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 882467] [NEW] Xorg freeze on Dell Latitude E6320 (intel graphics) when dockstation is used
Public bug reported: Since the last system update, X freezes systematically at boot when the laptop is docked on the dockstation. The laptop can boot ok when not docked. Docking it after boot and attempting to switch monitor also results in X freezing. The problem also occurred before the system update, but less systematically. I.e.: system booted ok even when docked, there were some seldom X freezes, sometimes upon re-docking the laptop after undocking, sometimes just during regular use. Before the update, when docking and switching monitor, the use of the "monitor preferences" applet often resulted in a freeze, but the use of the following command xrandr --output LVDS1 --off --output HDMI3 --primary --auto was more reliable and succeeded most of the times. After the upgrade this is not the case any more. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 728745] Re: [nvidia, 7300, 7400] display freeze when using unity desktop
I never had a problem with 11.04. but with 11.10 i get the occasional freeze from nvidia. going to 'additional drivers' and removing the nvidia driver completely solves the freeze. I have yet to test it but the issue seems to be related to the power saving mode. if you add Option "RegistryDwords""PowerMizerEnable=0x1; PerfLevelSrc=0x; PowerMizerDefault=0x2; PowerMizerDefaultAC=0x2" to the xorg.conf, the system is stable, it will just never run at low or high power, just stick somewhere in the middle. lspci says i have a 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GF106 [Quadro 2000M] (rev a1) i hope nvidia and the 3.0 kernel guys figure out what's going on soon as currently i'm loosing production hours and i'm definitely not used to that from linux. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/728745 Title: [nvidia, 7300, 7400] display freeze when using unity desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nux/+bug/728745/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 837456] Re: [Oneiric] XTestFakeKeyEvent changes keyboard mapping to 'us'
KeepassX exhibits the same behaviour for me in 11.10 (64 bit) (English UK - keyboard layout). Specifically the @ and " symbols are transposed when using KepassX's Auto-type function. Another workaround is to add a second keyboard layout to the keyboard preferences, (any layout will do); Auto-type then works as expected. (At least it does for me!) To add a second keyboard layout :-→ System Settings - Keyboard layout - Hit the " + " button (bottom left of window pane) - select another keyboard layout. [May have to log out/in again this to work.] ** Attachment added: "Keyboard layout panel." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/837456/+attachment/2574880/+files/Screenshot%20at%202011-10-27%2009%3A04%3A14.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/837456 Title: [Oneiric] XTestFakeKeyEvent changes keyboard mapping to 'us' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/837456/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
