[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 887445] [NEW] I can not login
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I've made a new install of 11.10 and I think I've finaly got rid of the binary drivers (fglrx and fglrx-updates, there are two?) but I still can not log in in X (I can login if I switch to console CTRL+ALT+F1) When I try to login in X the following happens. I select my account and type my password. Hits ENTER and then the screen switches to console mode, write some gibberish (a few non a-z character) and then switches back to X and I'm back at the login where I should select account and enter my password. I had no problems like this with 11.04 and I have not found any solution. it seems that X is crashing (I think Xorg.0.log file is supplied automatically to this bug report) and I desperatly need your help. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 577340] hibernate
Same here. Hibernate, resuming from hibernation works fine. Suspend works fine. Resuming from suspend fails most times, s2ram made things worse. But not every time! The Oneiric live USB (64bit) Resumed fine maybe 1 out of 10 times (approx.). And not all the other 9 times were complete failure: sometimes it weren't necessary to take out the battery, press the power button and then put it back together, and boot; a simple switch off-switch on, or sometimes an Altgr+prtscr REISUB worked. kernel version: 3.0.0-12 2011/11/8 gene 577...@bugs.launchpad.net On Mon, Sep 12, 2011 at 09:03:39PM -, ckx wrote: I still have this problem using Ubuntu 11,10 beta-1. Hi Alessandro, if you have Ubuntu or LinuxMint installed, you can check this via your Terminal. So open your Terminal and type in this: lsusb (this lists all usb-devices on your computer; also internals) lspci (this lists all the pci-devices in your machine) Then copypaste these outputs here into this topic and then we can see, what is wrong with your machine. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 859389] Re: [i915] DVI monitor via adapter to DisplayPort is reported as HDMI.
This issue appears to be an upstream bug, since you tested the latest upstream kernel. Would it be possible for you to open an upstream bug report at bugzilla.kernel.org [1]? That will allow the upstream Developers to examine the issue, and may provide a quicker resolution to the bug. If you are comfortable with opening a bug upstream, It would be great if you can report back the upstream bug number in this bug report. That will allow us to link this bug to the upstream report. The bugzilla.kernel.org site may still be unavailable due to the recent break-in. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 887756] [NEW] Black screen on boot with sandy bridge processor
Public bug reported: This is on an HP Compaq 8200 Elite all-in-one, with an Intel i3-2100. The live CD for Oneiric boots to a black screen. I instead installed Lucid, which works fine, but without proprietary graphics abilities. Upgrade to Natty resulted in a black screen on boot again. Booting with the Lucid kernel still works fine. I tried installing the 3.1 kernel, thinking the issue was supposed to have been fixed, but it too boots to a black screen. For now I'm running Natty with the Lucid 2.6.32-28 kernel. I'm afraid to even try updating to Oneiric lest apt remove the one working kernel I have left... Especially since my experiment with 3.1 failed. It would seem that the sandy bridge support in the newer kernels is broken, but the generic support works if one boots to a kernel prior to sandy bridge support. Thanks for your help everyone! Hey sergey-komov, Hi, thanks for reporting this issue during the development period of Ubuntu. I notice there's not been further comments to the bug report since the release came out, would you mind updating us on the status of it in the release? Are you still able to reproduce the issue? If not, do you think the bug report can be closed, or do you think we should continue tracking it? ** Changed in: mesa (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/867813 Title: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in swizzle_copy() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/867813/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
