[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 753144] Re: focused, or maximized windows blank
I should also mention that whatever Nvidia did seems to have fixed the other problems I was having too. Audio no longer skips when something using blur is active (such as the alt+tab switcher), the desktop grid isn't all jumpy anymore, moving windows around is smooth, and it doesn't seem any effects (like the Super+W widow picker) are planning on crashing Unity anymore. Everything is actually working smoothly! You guys should really consider pushing the new driver to the main repos as a (critical) bug fix release or whatever. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 894031] [NEW] User interface gets slow after a few hours working
Public bug reported: I am using Oneiric on an Asus eeePC 1015PEM with Intel graphics adapter. When I have just logged in to a session, everything is snappy, for instance opening a nautilus window and dragging this around over my e-mail client. After a few hours working, or sometimes already earlier, I notice a drop in graphics performance. Even when I close all applications, and restart my e-mail client and just 1 nautilus window, dragging the nautilus window around is very slow. I get maybe 1 or 2 updates per second, giving a very choppy movement. It seems to me as though video memory is now suddenly full and all updates have to go over the memory bus instead of using video adapter memory for the rendering. If I shortly log out and back in again, performance is OK again! I'm using standard Unity 3D, for the rest not a lot of exciting things. Hope something can be done about it, I'm also willing to invest some time in sorting this matter out, if anyone can give me some debugging pointers. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 763005] Re: Compiz's Sync to Vblank makes display stutter/slow with some drivers (like fglrx)
@Daniel van Vugt Sync to VBlank - OFF Tear-free - ON or OFF - no luck with neither Computer restarted after every change. If it didn't help, could you at least push me into the right direction, please? I've already spent a month fighting with this #$@% and I thought my ordeal is over after I found this bug report as it fits what I'm experiencing down to the bit. Well, except the solution... The only thing that changed after I installed your fix was that I had ~6 seconds of smooth windows dragging after the first computer restart before the choppiness started while in the past I had only 2 or so. But as soon as it starts to stutter it's all the same. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/763005 Title: Compiz's Sync to Vblank makes display stutter/slow with some drivers (like fglrx) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/763005/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 755518] Re: Synaptics Touchpad incorrectly detected as PS/2 mouse on clausoft MNW737 (aka meenee, aka PX1)
Thanks for confirming it's still a problem in new linux kernel. And very good to see someone else with the same hardware and an interest in finding a fix. Why did you change affects? I'm pretty sure this is a linux kernel problem, specifically a driver problem. See similar bug 606238 and particularly comment 77 where Seth Forshee points to his blog entry, where he describes how to get started reverse- engineering touchpad protocols. He did this successfully for the ALPS driver and his fixes have been submitted upstream. See his comment 492 on Bug 550625 for his DKMS package. I think I've established that the hardware on this meenee is not ALPS and is not helped by Seth's specific fix to drivers/input/mouse/alps.c I can't apply his tactics to snoop on the touchpad protocol until I can get hold of a USB CD drive. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/755518 Title: Synaptics Touchpad incorrectly detected as PS/2 mouse on clausoft MNW737 (aka meenee, aka PX1) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/755518/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 745608] Re: [915GM] font corruption on Intel GMA900
Font corruption does only affect some fonts - not all. I've never experienced the corruption when using Chromium, when observing the same webpage scrambled in Firefox. I've never experienced this font corruption on pre-Natty releases (I skipped Maverick). The first time I suffered from corrupted fonts was on Natty using Unity 3D. I'm wondering if this corruption can be related to the Ubuntu font? Or an interplay of Ubuntu font and Unity 3D? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 893431] Re: Random Display Freeze, Multiple Times a Day
I'm having similar issues in Oneiric on a Dell E6520. Definitely seems nvidia related. It usually happens to me when trying to switch modes via nvidia-settings, generally when I am trying to add a second monitor or something. Sometimes it hangs permanently as described. Sometime it hangs for 10-20 seconds and then recovers (sometimes before and sometimes after the timeout on the modechange confirmation in nvidia- settings). I've even updated to 290.10 via xorg-edgers and still seeing the same problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/893431 Title: Random Display Freeze, Multiple Times a Day To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/893431/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 891947] [NEW] Desktop not completely displayed after install
You have been subscribed to a public bug: After installing my desktop is shifted to the left and up (can't see that part of the screen). That seems to indicate the wrong resolution or frequency to me. I'm using DVI output and a DVI to HDMI cable (monitor was sold as a monitor, not TV). 1920x1200 is default resolution and it looks like that is what is being displayed, but I think it is using 50.0 Hz (* marks it in xrandr -q output, and is only option for that resolution) instead of something closer to 60 or 59. I've tried reinstalling, with no change. My screen works fine while inside the installer environment or the try out Ubuntu option (whole desktop displayed). I originally had my system working with an old video card, but it broke after switching to a newer card (from Nvidia 8800 GTX to Nvidia 260 216). More recently I replaced the 260 with an Nvidia GTX 480. All of these have worked fine inside Windows 7. This originally showed up in Ubuntu 10.10 with the latest Nvidia drivers (I manually installed newer versions to match what CUDA 4.0 SDK wanted). The fresh install was Ubuntu 11.10 and whatever default driver it offers. -- Screen's (LG - L246WP) native resolution is 1920x1200 Hori. Freq. 74.04kHz Vert.
