[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 124406] Re: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat
I also experienced the exact symptoms of the bug, combined with a bunch of other problems (sound crackling, system freezes). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 720096] Re: No video output via HDMI on Nvidia 8200M
I hve the exact same problem in both 10.04 32bit and 11.10 64bit. I also own a Compaq Presario with a NVidia Geforce 8200M. A detail which may be of some importance, according to the driver search on the NVIDIA website, there aren't any drivers for the 8200M. The linux drivers which seem to work perfectly (apart from the HDMI situation) are made for 8200M - and for pretty much any other NVIDIA graphic card. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 828761] Re: Resume from suspend takes much more time when nvidia-current driver is installed.
I experience this issue as well on my desktop computer (shuttle xpc) since I recently installed a gfx-card with two digital outputs for a xinerama-setup and activated the nvidia-current driver. Before that I was using the internal graphics of my core i5 where everything worked fine (except that I couldn't connect my second monitor). Now with the nvidia-driver, waking-up from suspend takes 30s. First, the screen is black showing only the mouse pointer, which freezes repeatedly. Next, the mouse moves normally but it still takes several seconds until the locking-screen comes up. After unlocking, the unity bar shows colored noise until I hover over it which redraws it to its normal state. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 868400] Re: Synaptics touchpad stops working
I seem to have inadvertently narrowed down the cause of my bug. The problem is with Unity, not the synaptic driver. I installed a clean and updated copy of 11.10 and still have the same touchpad malfunction with Unity. The touchpad malfunction DOES NOT happen under GNOME 3. I've logged several hours of touchpad usage with GNOME 3 without incident. If I switch back to Unity, it takes only a few minutes for me to lose control of the system and end up forcibly restarting from another tty. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/868400 Title: Synaptics touchpad stops working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/868400/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 905505] Re: Page fault in drm while using Unity's software center overlay
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report on this issue. However, given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during any development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all. Therefore, we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request further testing. This is such a request. We have noted that there is a newer version of the development kernel than the one you last tested when this issue was found. Please test again with the newer kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still exists or not. You can update to the latest development kernel by simply running the following commands in a terminal window: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade If the bug still exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to Confirmed. If the bug no longer exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to Fix Released. If you want this bot to quit automatically requesting kernel tests, add a tag named: bot-stop-nagging. Thank you for your help, we really do appreciate it. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete ** Tags added: kernel-request-3.2.0-5.11 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/905505 Title: Page fault in drm while using Unity's software center overlay To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/905505/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 905074] [NEW] corrupted display on dual monitors
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I am getting intermittent corruption on one of my monitors using XScreenSaver. I am running a fully updated Ubuntu 11.10 (64bit) installation on a dual core AMD proc The NVidia settings too reports that I am using driver #280.13 and XScerver Version 1.10.4, and I am using an older NVideo card: *-display description: VGA compatible controller product: G73 [GeForce 7600 GT] vendor: nVidia Corporation physical id: 0 bus info: pci@:01:00.0 version: a1 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=nvidia latency=0 resources: irq:18 memory:fa00-faff memory:d000-dfff memory:fb00-fbff ioport:ef00(size=128) memory:fc00-fc01 Corruption can occur on either one of the monitors, but I have not yet seen it in both at the same time. Once corruption occurs, XScreenSaver does not recover the monitor. I have not been able to totally isolate the conditions, but it seems to occur more often if one of the monitors is displaying a maximized window. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 905074] Re: corrupted display on dual monitors
This has most likely nothing to do with the xscreensaver application, but with your proprietary nvidia drivers. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 873718] Re: External monitor via KVM switch flashes all the time
Hi ml, Does this also occur in Ubuntu Precise (12.04)? If you don't want to install Ubuntu Precise, it should be sufficient to boot a Live USB session, configure the monitors, and see if it is working properly now.You can get the current Live USB desktop image at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ and create a USB boot drive using usb-creator. I take it that with the monitor directly connected, without the KVM, that it works fine? This bug sounds familiar, I think we had one where the KVM was blocking some/all of the EDID in such a way that the kernel kept re-probing to determine the resolution. Something like that. But your log files don't give any indication whether or not that's what's going on here. In addition to testing on precise, one other thing that might help reveal some clues would be to turn on drm debugging. Run `sudo xdiagnose`, mark the first checkbox, Apply, and reboot. Now after reproducing the issue collect the output of `dmesg`, which will have more detailed debugging info for us. If my theory is correct, there should be a repeating output in there relating to monitor probing, with the same periodicity as you're noting with the effect. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/873718 Title: External monitor via KVM switch flashes all the time To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/873718/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 868354] Re: Duplicate indicators bar and desktops with overlapped screens
Allowing two displays to overlap and show different sized viewports of the same desktop is totally permissible by X11 with RANDR. I can't think of any particular use case where you'd *want* it set up that way, but technically it is a permissible configuration as far as X is concerned. It is more of a question of policy. While I think I can reproduce it under some circumstances with xrandr, I'm not sure that means we should implement the policy at the X level, or if it just means we have two config tools that need the same fix. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/868354 Title: Duplicate indicators bar and desktops with overlapped screens To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/868354/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

At one point I (roughly) centered the smaller laptop display above the external monitor, hit apply, and the system locked up. dmesg shows: + [ 1367.073390] BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 0018 + [ 1367.073467] IP: [f8a090f3] i915_gem_get_aperture_ioctl+0x63/0xb0 [i915] + [ 1367.073530] *pdpt = 33f6b001 *pde = + [ 1367.073571] Oops: [#1] SMP + [ 1367.073602] Modules linked in: joydev parport_pc ppdev rfcomm snd_usb_audio usbhid snd_usbmidi_lib hid tpm_infineon bnep arc4 btusb bluetooth snd_hda_codec_hdmi snd_hda_codec_realtek snd_hda_intel snd_hda_codec snd_hwdep snd_pcm snd_seq_midi snd_rawmidi input_polldev pcmcia snd_seq_midi_event uvcvideo iwlwifi videodev snd_seq yenta_socket pcmcia_rsrc mac80211 psmouse pcmcia_core serio_raw snd_timer snd_seq_device cfg80211 snd nfsd tpm_tis nfs soundcore snd_page_alloc lockd fscache auth_rpcgss nfs_acl sunrpc binfmt_misc fujitsu_laptop i915 drm_kms_helper drm i2c_algo_bit video lp parport sdhci_pci sdhci firewire_ohci firewire_core crc_itu_t tg3 + [ 1367.074156] [ 1367.074172] Pid: 1208, comm: Xorg Not tainted 3.2.0-5-generic-pae #11-Ubuntu FUJITSU LifeBook T4410/FJNB206 [ 1367.074246] EIP: 0060:[f8a090f3] EFLAGS: 00013202 CPU: 1 [ 1367.074295] EIP is at i915_gem_get_aperture_ioctl+0x63/0xb0 [i915] [ 1367.074338] EAX: f74df24c EBX: f74de000 ECX: f74df1dc EDX: [ 1367.074377] ESI: f4794c14 EDI: 05d09000 EBP: f3361e8c ESP: f3361e74 [ 1367.074417] DS: 007b ES: 007b FS: 00d8 GS: 00e0 SS: 0068 [ 1367.074451] Process Xorg (pid: 1208, ti=f336 task=f301b2c0 task.ti=f336) [ 1367.074501] Stack: [ 1367.074517] f3361edc f6d61c80 f4794c00 80106463 f3361f6c f8944f28 [ 1367.074596] 0001 f895e5ed f8959bb6 f895fc98 04b8 80106463 0063 e200 [ 1367.074684] 0001 0063 bfc22340 f8a09090 0010 f8a4c450 ffea [ 1367.074766] Call Trace: [ 1367.076006] [f8944f28] drm_ioctl+0x378/0x480 [drm] [ 1367.076006] [f8a09090] ? i915_gem_init_ioctl+0x80/0x80 [i915] [ 1367.076006] [c117bbc8] ? fsnotify+0x198/0x250 [ 1367.076006] [f8944bb0] ? drm_copy_field+0x80/0x80 [drm] [ 1367.076006] [c1154a89] do_vfs_ioctl+0x79/0x2d0 [ 1367.076006] [c1144180] ? wait_on_retry_sync_kiocb+0x50/0x50 [ 1367.076006] [c1154d4f] sys_ioctl+0x6f/0x80 [ 1367.076006] [c15ac59f] sysenter_do_call+0x12/0x28 [ 1367.076006] Code: 93 4c 12 00 00 8d 83 4c 12 00 00 c7 45 e8 00 00 00 00 c7 45 ec 00 00 00 00 39 d0 8d 4a 98 74 22 31 ff 8d b6 00 00 00 00 8b 51 54 [ 1367.076006] 7a 18 8b 51 68 39 d0 8d 4a 98 75 f0 89 7d e8 c7 45 ec 00 00 [ 1367.076006] EIP: [f8a090f3] i915_gem_get_aperture_ioctl+0x63/0xb0 [i915] SS:ESP 0068:f3361e74 [ 1367.076006] CR2: 0018 + ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: xorg 1:7.6+7ubuntu7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-5.11-generic-pae 3.2.0-rc5 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-5-generic-pae i686 ApportVersion: 1.90-0ubuntu1 Architecture: i386 CompizPlugins: [core,bailer,detection,composite,opengl,decor,imgpng,gnomecompat,regex,place,snap,vpswitch,mousepoll,grid,compiztoolbox,animation,move,session,resize,unitymtgrabhandles,workarounds,wall,expo,fade,ezoom,scale,unityshell] Date: Fri Dec 16 17:31:10 2011 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: precise DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, whatever it takes to get this fixed in Ubuntu GraphicsCard: - Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2a42] (rev 07) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) -Subsystem: Fujitsu Limited.
