Public bug reported: This was diagnosed by my system. Not sure what to make of it. Sometimes the screen just remains black after mode changes etc., and I have to force a reboot. rc6 is disabled. no change has been made, at least not to windows I mention in the bug description. here is a screenshot. btw, did I mention that Compiz config settings manager's window is unpleasantly jumping up and down when clicking on it, trying to fill that little space. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 92599] Re: Incorrect (low/stuttering) refresh rate with NVIDIA driver
I'm not sure about bug 888039 because it's hard to reproduce (for me) and hard to distinguish between other similar performance bugs. I think it's likely half the people subscribed to that bug were actually seeing different bugs, some of which are now fixed. Versions vv9 and vv10 only changed the Move plugin to make moving windows faster and more responsive (bug 764330). But it's excellent that ppa:vanvugt/compiz now contains enough fixes that things have improved considerably for you. I hope all the fixes in there get approved in time to go into Ubuntu 12.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/92599 Title: Incorrect (low/stuttering) refresh rate with NVIDIA driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/92599/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 909176] [NEW] black screen after logout using gnome 3.2 lightdm
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Release: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric User Interface: gnome 3.2 loginmanager: lightdm After logout from gnome-shell the system keeps running, while the screen is totally black. What i expected to happen is seeing the lightdm login shell. Entering the password is logging in the user again, but there is no visual response to entering the password and pressing enter, before the desktop appears. Gnome Shell has been installed using the Ubuntu Software Center. The whole login works as designed when booting the system. The background-image used in lightdm has been changed using the configuration file, so that it is using a different image form another path. After booting the image is shown properly as background of the login manager. The image does not seem to be a problem, as other users report the same behaviour, using standard settings in lightdm. I am not connected to the person reporting the same problem here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/85788/ubuntu-11-10-with-gnome-shell-does-not-logout-properly but the behaviour described is the same. I am using a thinkpad x220 with intel sandy-bridge internal graphics. ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete ** Tags: bot-comment gnome-shell lightdm oneiric -- black screen after logout using gnome 3.2 lightdm https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/909176 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 909176] Re: black screen after logout using gnome 3.2 lightdm
Thanks for your bug report. I gave this a shot on my x220. Upon logging out, my screen is black for maybe half a second, but redraws after that, which might just be normal behavior. I don't have a custom image for my login screen, in the event that ends up being relevant. In any case I'll open a task against xorg. Could you please run apport-collect 909176 in a terminal?
