[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 924743] Re: [Oneiric] Xorg (not kernel) hangs hard on laptop resume, Dell E6410, Intel Graphics
I had a similar but not identical hang (I will assume for now it is related) just now on resume. The screensaver didn't kick in, the mouse pointer moved, initially it also changed shape as I would expect. I was able to switch to a VT, and restart GDM, which prompted me to log back into my (still running) session. When I did so though the picture was still unchanged. Killing the X session from the console got me back. I made a copy of syslog and Xorg.0.log from before killing the session and will attach them. Note the [drm:drm_mode_getfb] *ERROR* invalid framebuffer id messages at the end of the syslog. (Note: Firefox and VirtualBox were running at the time. I killed them to see before I killed the X session. I don't think that they are related to the hang though.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/924743 Title: [Oneiric] Xorg (not kernel) hangs hard on laptop resume, Dell E6410, Intel Graphics To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/924743/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 743496] Re: [gm45] Xorg crashes after 2-3 days of computer uptime
Hello Ufortunately i don't use Ubuntu anymore on this computer. I have Arch Linux now with kernel 3.2 and intel 2.17 driver. Everything works fine. On my other computer i have Ubuntu Lucid up to date and everything works just fine. It was only my computer. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/743496 Title: [gm45] Xorg crashes after 2-3 days of computer uptime To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/743496/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 924851] Re: Primary display is blank if external display is connected at boot-up
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected compiz-0.9 has-workaround precise regression reproducible running-unity ubuntu ** Description changed: The Primary (internal) display of my laptop is blank if an external display is connected when the laptop is started. The loader and Greeter will be shown the external display, and the extended desktop will be shown on the external monitor as expected. However, the Launcher is not visible, as it is located on the internal display. When this first occurred, I hot-plug disconnected the external display, to try and force the desktop onto the internal display. A fuzzy white grid pattern then started creeping in from the edges of the laptop display. To recover from the problem, the external display had to be reconnected, restoring the previous (incomplete) view of the extended desktop. Starting the laptop, with the external display not connected, the internal laptop display shows fine. Hot-plug connecting the display once the machine is booted also works as expected, allowing both displays to be used. This seems to be a regression in P (12.04 development branch), as this setup was previously working fine in Oneiric. Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report on this issue. However, given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during any development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all. Therefore, we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request further testing. This is such a request. We have noted that there is a newer version of the development kernel than the one you last tested when this issue was found. Please test again with the newer kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still exists or not. You can update to the latest development kernel by simply running the following commands in a terminal window: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade If the bug still exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to New. If the bug no longer exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to Fix Released. If you want this bot to quit automatically requesting kernel tests, add a tag named: bot-stop-nagging. Thank you for your help, we really do appreciate it. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete ** Tags added: kernel-request-3.2.0-12.21 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/912992 Title: [snb-m-gt2+] Primary laptop display not working, external monitor works fine. Stephen verified the drm-intel-fixes branch contains a fix for the issue. Upstream says a lot of snb fixes went in to that branch, so presumably this will require backporting of the snb patch set. Since the branch targets the 3.3 kernel, which we do not plan to ship in ubuntu, we won't get the fixes automatically for Precise. Potentially eugeni will backport them to the 3.2 tree. If that happens, then assuming the kernel team updates to new stable releases of this kernel series, we would get the fix then. I'll leave it to the kernel team to finish the porting of the fixes into the ubuntu kernel. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/912992 Title: [snb-m-gt2+] Primary laptop display not working, external monitor works fine. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 925785] [NEW] Starting to scroll is erratic
Public bug reported: Since the X transition in precise, scrolling is very erratic. When I activate edge scrolling on my touchpad, the content I'm scrolling often jumps by an unpredictable and large amount in either direction, before scrolling correctly. Other people have reported the same issue with mouse scrollwheels too, so it doesn't seem to be touchpad specific. This is easily triggered by using either of the other touchpad buttons before scrolling. If I activate a scroll without touching any other buttons, then it appears to work correctly. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 916763] Re: [gm45] Ubuntu sometimes stutters in that the mouse will briefly stop moving, sometimes the screen will lock up completely.
Just to be clear, in your description I gather that the behavior occurs only on 12.04, and didn't affect 11.10? Your description seems to imply you had been running 12.04 earlier before your clean install and upgrade, is that correct? If so, did this issue present itself in the earlier 12.04, or only this latest one? Reason I ask is to help us narrow down if this is a regression in the new X stack that we brought in a couple weeks ago, in which case it may be due to the backported input stack. But if it's a pre-existing condition then it may be an upstream bug. ** Package changed: xserver-xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu) = xserver-xorg- input-synaptics (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/916763 Title: [gm45] Ubuntu sometimes stutters in that the mouse will briefly stop moving, sometimes the screen will lock up completely.
