[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 927603] [NEW] Screen doesn't completely refresh
Public bug reported: This happens regularly when working in a terminal screen, the bottom few lines (and regularly the rightmost columns don't refresh) A command returns (updates the bottom of the screen) but the actual update doesn't get rendered, I need to hit return a few times to get the new output to scroll up. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 927918] [NEW] Display lags / framedrops / stutters GPU: RS880 CPU: FX-4100
Public bug reported: Dear Ones, This situation is permanent. It happens in both Ubuntu and Ubuntu 2D. I've also tested 2012-02-06 image of precise. Still occurs. For example, when I drag windows around, there are framedrops. Is the term framedrops clear? The movement is jumpy. As if frames are skipped in the rendering of the display. So it seems that the window that I'm moving is jumping instead o smooth movement. The stuttering seems to be generated by CPU activity, I've noticed. Funny thing is that it didn't happen when my CPU was an AMD Sempron 140. As soon as I switched to the AMD FX-4100 CPU this started. I don't know if this is X.org, radeon or maybe linux... I apologize and I will let you decide. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 745112]
It seems like if I force audio off at the same time I add the external screen, through xrandr, it does work reliably(?) so far. Using the monitor control panel or fn-f7 apparently puts audio back to the 'auto' setting, which does induce a problem I tried running for i in `seq 30` ;do; echo i xrandr --output DP1 --off sleep 15 xrandr --output DP1 --mode 2560x1600 --above LVDS1 --set audio off sleep 15 || break;done and this got through 14 iterations successfully. Now I wonder if I can identify what the problem is with audio or provide a way to force it off. This screen does have an option for speakers to be connected, but I'm not using it. I don't know if it picks up audio across dp. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/745112 Title: [arrandale] desktop is messed up with external monitors (x86_64) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/745112/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 745112]
Running xrandr --output DP1 --mode 2560x1600 --above LVDS1 --set audio on when it's previously working does immediately make the monitor black out, and using '--set audio off' does not bring it back, nor does soft power cycling the monitor or unplugging/replugging it. I can see some reports of people complaining about dp/audio problems under windows with the U3011, but it's hard to tell how much they indicate a real hardware/firmware problem vs windows driver problems or something else. http://en.community.dell.com/support- forums/laptop/f/3517/p/19370516/19844480.aspx It seems that the Nvidia based implementation at least with Displayport ++ out will only support an audio signal being passed over displayport to an external monitor that is no high resolution than 1080HD, or 1920x1080. So I wonder if there is some way for Linux to know not to try this, preferably without needing special user configuration: * don't do audio above a certain resolution? * ... on specific hardware models? * don't do DP audio at all by default?
