Sorry, Chris. I thought it would help registering that the bug is not
restricted to Ubuntu or Unity. Anyway, I also had this problem in an
Ubuntu partition with Gnome Shell on the same computer.

2012-02-06 Thread Tarmo Hyvärinen
In case someone missed the freedesktop.org bug report:

Appears to be a bad update of last.valuators[], resetting that value to 0
whenever the SD changes. As a result, the next value isn't on top of the
previous one but rather starting from 0, causing a bad in value. The jumps come
from that

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 783050] Re: unable to use keyboard after xdm login

2012-02-06 Thread Alfie John
I've still got the same issue (Oneiric). I'm using XDM and EvilWM.

As a work around, what I do is:

  - Alt+Ctrl+F1
  - login
  - /etc/init.d/xdm restart
  - login via XDM
  - kill the F1 console

I think the encryption is correct. By logging in via a console and then
restarting XDM, it sees the unencrypted home directory and carries on.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 927580] [NEW] package nvidia-current 195.36.24-0ubuntu1~10.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 10

2012-02-06 Thread Paul Crawford
Public bug reported:

I tried updating my kernel from the current default LTS version
(2.6.32-38) to the latest version (3.0.0-15) using synaptic's option for
that. However, this failed to be usable due to the Nvidia driver. I
booted in to the older kernel and de-activated the Nvidia driver, then
booted in to the new kernel and tried to enable the latest driver (which
I assume is working as it is the same kernel as 11.10?)

Result was failure, and apport caught this crash.

new output to scroll up.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 926872] Re: package nvidia-current 195.36.24-0ubuntu1~10.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: nvidia-current kernel module failed to build

2012-02-06 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

With this bug resuming from suspend takes 37s while it used to take less

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 925785]

2012-02-06 Thread Peter Hutterer
verified on master, thanks.

Appears to be a bad update of last.valuators[], resetting that value to
0 whenever the SD changes. As a result, the next value isn't on top of
the previous one but rather starting from 0, causing a bad in value. The
jumps come from that

2012-02-06 Thread nakki
Re-happened again listening a youtube video song on facebook's page.
I played the video then i scrolled down the page for reading others friends
posts. After a while I scrolled up the page for watching the video, but all the
screen became white and the audio went in a little loop. I tried to go on tty
by pressing ctrl-alt-F1, but nothing happened. Then i tried to press the power
botton to shut down the system like other times but it did nothing...

I managed to get a screenshot of this bug. This image was taking on

When I took the screnshot, the take screenshot window didn't show up
for a few seconds (until the shutdown image had disappeared).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 927854] [NEW] X server segfaults on pointer movement

during the upgrade (dpkg.log): http://paste.ubuntu.com/831823/ and what
is happening now (Xorg.0.log): http://paste.ubuntu.com/831824/ It
appears that the X server can't handle pointer events, so it crashes.

moves.

Could you also add the Xorg.0.log.old after the issue? if you started a
new session it's the old log which will have the infos

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 927177] Re: Segmentation fault on X.Org when use pointing devices

2012-02-06 Thread Diomas
After last update, my ubuntu start crashing and kicking me to the login
page each time I move or click the mouse. I tried both devises i have:
PS/2 and USB - same result. I use unity-2d from ppa, but this crash
happen even on the login screen (before any session is loaded).

Then I found the reason: http://askubuntu.com/questions/101308/xorg-
segmentation-fault-seems-to-be-relevant-to-evdev

after I downgraded xserver-xorg-core to 2:1.10.4-1ubuntu4.1 the problem
disappeared:
sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-core=2:1.10.4-1ubuntu4.1

it seems Fix crash on accepting a touch grab from an indirect device
patch broke my ubuntu.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 927918] [NEW] Display lags / framedrops / stutters GPU: RS880 CPU: FX-4100

2012-02-06 Thread Shahar Or
Public bug reported:

Dear Ones,

This situation is permanent. It happens in both Ubuntu and Ubuntu 2D.

I've also tested 2012-02-06 image of precise. Still occurs.

For example, when I drag windows around, there are framedrops. Is the
term framedrops clear? The movement is jumpy. As if frames are skipped
in the rendering of the display. So it seems that the window that I'm
moving is jumping instead o smooth movement.

The stuttering seems to be generated by CPU activity, I've noticed.

Funny thing is that it didn't happen when my CPU was an AMD Sempron 140.
As soon as I switched to the AMD FX-4100 CPU this started.

I don't know if this is X.org, radeon or maybe linux... I apologize and
I will let you decide.

Thanks and blessings,

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 745112]

2012-02-06 Thread Martin Pool
It seems like if I force audio off at the same time I add the external
screen, through xrandr, it does work reliably(?) so far. Using the
monitor control panel or fn-f7 apparently puts audio back to the 'auto'
setting, which does induce a problem

I tried running

for i in `seq 30` ;do; echo i xrandr --output DP1 --off sleep 15
xrandr --output DP1 --mode 2560x1600 --above LVDS1 --set audio off
sleep 15 || break;done

and this got through 14 iterations successfully.

Now I wonder if I can identify what the problem is with audio or provide
a way to force it off. This screen does have an option for speakers to
be connected, but I'm not using it. I don't know if it picks up audio
across dp.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 745112]

2012-02-06 Thread Martin Pool
Running

xrandr --output DP1 --mode 2560x1600 --above LVDS1 --set audio on

when it's previously working does immediately make the monitor black
out, and using '--set audio off' does not bring it back, nor does soft
power cycling the monitor or unplugging/replugging it.

I can see some reports of people complaining about dp/audio problems
under windows with the U3011, but it's hard to tell how much they
indicate a real hardware/firmware problem vs windows driver problems or
something else.

http://en.community.dell.com/support-
forums/laptop/f/3517/p/19370516/19844480.aspx

It seems that the Nvidia based implementation at least with
Displayport ++ out will only support an audio signal being passed over
displayport to an external monitor that is no high resolution than
1080HD, or 1920x1080.

So I wonder if there is some way for Linux to know not to try this,
preferably without needing special user configuration:

 * don't do audio above a certain resolution?
 * ... on specific hardware models?
 * don't do DP audio at all by default?

I've tried, as a bit of a shot in the dark, cutting out one bit of code

enough to make it reliable when the display is configured automatically.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 927541] Re: HDMI monitor issues since 5.2

2012-02-06 Thread Guy Van Sanden
As to the pulseaudio issue, it broke when Unity 5.2 was installed, or some
dependency in that batch.
Last pulseaudio update is from january 30 if I have it right and sound was
working correctly after.

** Also affects: unity
