apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected precise regression reproducible ubuntu ** Description changed: On my mid-2009 MacBook Pro, running Precise since alpha with continual updates, middle-clicks have recently stopped working. Normally on these laptops, pushing down the trackpad with one finger is a left-click; pushing it down with two fingers is a right-click; and pushing it down with three fingers is a middle-click. Of these, the middle-click gesture stopped working. The other two still work. I don't know what it's trying to do instead of middle-click, but it's trying to do something. When I press down with 3 fingers on the desktop, the mouse pointer vanishes as with a normal click, but dragging with the 3 fingers pushed down does not seem to do anything. - I have “enable mouse clicks with touchpad” disabled — that's tapping, - whereas this touchpad can physically click down. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 933355] Re: Middle-click on MacBook Pro touchpad no longer works
X crashed just as I tried clicking to make sure that the bug was still there, breaking the “apport” run. Probably not related; it crashes all the time at the moment. But I think a second run did the trick. “Triple-clicking” on a link in the Chromium browser acts like a left- click, rather than as the expected middle-click. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/933355 Title: Middle-click on MacBook Pro touchpad no longer works To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/933355/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 874341] Re: glx doesn't work
I just reinstalled oneiric and now glx works fine. The nvidia drivers were installed themselves. On Fri, Feb 17, 2012 at 7:09 AM, Chris Halse Rogers r...@ubuntu.com wrote: How did you install the nvidia drivers? Your symptoms indicate that you've got the nvidia libglx.so (which won't work with Intel) on your system, which is why 3D isn't working. The nvidia drivers don't work on optimus hardware; the “Additional Drivers” capplet shouldn't offer to install them anymore. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/874341 Title: glx doesn't work Status in “xserver-xorg-video-intel” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: i have the following graphics 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) for which nvidia drivers were installed which i purged (as they weren't working anyway) and now i have no graphics driver ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.15.901-1ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-12.20-generic 3.0.4 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic i686 ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu3 Architecture: i386 CompizPlugins: [core, bailer, detection, composite, opengl, decor, move, place, session, compiztoolbox, mousepoll, vpswitch, grid, resize, gnomecompat, snap, imgpng, wall, regex, animation, unitymtgrabhandles, workarounds, expo, fade, scale, ezoom, unityshell] CompositorRunning: None Date: Fri Oct 14 20:38:34 2011 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: oneiric DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: bcmwl, 5.100.82.38+bdcom, 3.0.0-12-generic, i686: installed fglrx, 8.881, 3.0.0-12-generic, i686: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, if not too technical GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:27a2] (rev 03) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:3801] Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:3801] InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release i386 (20111012) MachineType: Lenovo LENOVO3000 Y500 PccardctlIdent: Socket 0: no product info available PccardctlStatus: Socket 0: no card ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_IN:en PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_IN SHELL=/bin/bash ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.0.0-12-generic root=UUID=b9815fa0-c7b8-4b10-a74d-0d69f378bf3b ro i8042.reset i8042.reset quiet splash vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: xserver-xorg-video-intel UnitySupportTest: Error: command ['/usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test', '-p', '-f'] failed with exit code 1: X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation) Major opcode of failed request: 135 (GLX) Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString) Serial number of failed request: 21 Current serial number in output stream: 21 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 05/17/07 dmi.bios.vendor: Lenovo dmi.bios.version: v2.06 dmi.board.name: F50X dmi.board.vendor: Lenovo dmi.board.version: Not Applicable dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: No Enclosure dmi.chassis.version: N/A dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLenovo:bvrv2.06:bd05/17/07:svnLenovo:pnLENOVO3000Y500:pvr:rvnLenovo:rnF50X:rvrNotApplicable:cvnNoEnclosure:ct10:cvrN/A: dmi.product.name: LENOVO3000 Y500 dmi.product.version: dmi.sys.vendor: Lenovo version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.6+bzr20110929-0ubuntu5 version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.26-1ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 7.11-0ubuntu3 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 7.11-0ubuntu3 version.xserver-xorg: xserver-xorg 1:7.6+7ubuntu7 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.6.0-1ubuntu13 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.14.99~git20110811.g93fc084-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.15.901-1ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:0.0.16+git20110411+8378443-1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/874341/+subscriptions -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/874341 Title: glx doesn't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/874341/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list:
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 921321]
There should be a solution to this dilemma, considering that nvidia's binary blob does it correctly. I got the nvapeek results for using the binary blob, and the results I got are: Before e100: 001c1100 e28c: 0100 e104: 72266640 0441474b e280: 4747 After e100: 001c1100 e28c: 0100 e104: 72266640 0441474b e280: 4747 Notice that unlike nouveau, register 0xe104's content is unaltered after resuming. What is this particular register for? The vbios before suspending is identical between nouveau and nvidia, and it is also identical to the one after resuming with nvidia. However, nvgetbios fails with nouveau after resuming: ./nvagetbios vbios.txt No extraction method specified (using -s extraction_method). Defaulting to PRAMIN. Attempt to extract the vbios from card 0 (nv96) using PRAMIN Invalid signature(0x55aa). You may want to try another retrieval method. Is this a sign that the vbios is somehow wrong/corrupted after resume? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 877682] Re: [Latitude E6510 / Thinkpad W510/T510] External Video inoperative with nVidia current
I don't think it's related. I don't see any reports of X crashing here, just inability to use external displays. Furthermore, the bug referenced in that changelog entry was introduced in the 295 timeframe and this bug is reported in 280. The issue described here also doesn't seem to exactly match the issue described on the ubuntuforums.org and forums.nvidia.com links: here it sounds like neither external display is working, and on the forum posts it sounds like the control panel is freezing when enabling two external monitors simultaneously. The latter is a known bug in the control panel which was fixed in the 290 timeframe. The former sounds like a distinct issue to me, but maybe I've misunderstood the report. It would be good to clarify with the original reporter. For the control panel bug, you don't want to do a full driver update for that bug, you can just patch the control panel: --- a/src/gtk+-2.x/ctkdisplayconfig-utils.c +++ b/src/gtk+-2.x/ctkdisplayconfig-utils.c @@ -,8 +,8 @@ if (!screen-displays) { screen-displays = display; } else { -nvDisplayPtr last = screen-displays; -while (last) { +nvDisplayPtr last; +for (last = screen-displays; last; last = last-next_in_screen) { if (!last-next_in_screen) { last-next_in_screen = display; break; -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/877682 Title: [Latitude E6510 / Thinkpad W510/T510] External Video inoperative with nVidia current To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/877682/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 934281] [NEW] Enabling external monitor doesn't work; have to press 'apply' twice
Public bug reported: On my Macbook Pro 3,1 w/ 8600M GT in 12.04, enabling an external monitor with the nvidia-settings control panel has regressed from 11.10. I have to press the 'apply' button twice in order to get anything on the second monitor. This is reliably reproducible on my system. To reproduce: 1) Boot with no external monitor attached 2) Plug an external monitor into the DVI port 3) Launch nvidia-settings 4) IN the X Server Display Configuration screen, use 'detect displays' to find the external monitor. The second monitor should appear (in this case, it's a Dell 1704FPT - 1280x1024 max resolution 5) Select the image of the external monitor in the control panel 6) From the Configuration popup menu, select Twinview 7) Press Apply to enable the external monitor Expected results: The external monitor is turned on and I see a launcher, panel, and desktop background on both monitors. There should be a dialog asking if I want to accept the changes. Actual results: The laptop screen goes black for a couple seconds, then the desktop returns to the laptop display. The display on the external monitor remains dark and the power light on the external monitor stays amber (indicating that the display is powered on but not being driven). Workaround: After pressing 'Apply' once, wait until the laptop screen returns to its normal state. Press 'Apply' again. This time the laptop screen gets corrupted, the corruption is displayed on the external monitor. Both screens might go black with just a mouse cursor for up to 15 seconds. Once compiz+unity are done with their histrionics I have a dual-screen desktop working normally, with a dialog asking if I want to accept the changes. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 933212] Re: FBO-using applications unresponsive for a long time after modeswitch
Indeed, I can confirm that with the recently released stable 295.20 driver version the problem went away and no more hangs are experienced after resume and the desktop is immediately responsive. Switching to the console and back also works fine, although there seems to be one buglet left: Switching forth and back to the console and the X server requires the triggering of a full redraw (e.g. by switching to another virtual desktop) in order to restore the full desktop properly from an initially black image. Upon resume and after logging in, there are some graphics artifacts (graphics memory corruption?) at the area where the unhidden dock would reside. Once an action overdraws that screen area (the dock is unhidden or a full refresh is triggered) everything is back to normal. Not sure, if this is something that is supposed to be taken care of by the driver or by the compositing manager. Thx a lot for the fix of the modeswitch hang, though, which works beautifully again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/933212 Title: FBO-using applications unresponsive for a long time after modeswitch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/933212/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I have a same issue. - unity3d on ubuntu 11.10 - run mplayer with vdpau mode and video HD - unity locks up and hard reboot is necessary The problem is : incompatibility between composite mode and vdpau API. Temporary patch is : I disable nvidia composite mode (sudo nvidia-xconfig --no-composite) my video running with vdpau but unity lost 3d effects. I report this problem in french on this thread : http://forum.ubuntu- fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=825381 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/755099 Title: X lockup caused by compiz/unity To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/755099/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 934382] [NEW] Pointer jumps during click-and-drag with new clickpad support
Public bug reported: I'm testing the new clickpad support from ppa:chasedouglas/clickpad on a MacBook Air 4,1 with a bcm5974 touchpad. When I have the touchpad pressed down with one finger in the right button area of the touchpad, placing a second finger on the touchpad causes the mouse pointer to jump. The direction and distance of the jump is related to where I'm placing the finger on the touchpad -- higher on the touchpad might cause it to jump up, lower on the touchpad might cause it to jump down, etc. Note that this doesn't happen every time I place a second finger on the touchpad. I can't quite determine the pattern, but it seems to depend somewhat on where each finger is located on the touchpad. Sometimes I can't get it to happen at all. --- ApportVersion: 1.91-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: precise DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 DistroVariant: ubuntu EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin - Alpha amd64+mac (20111208) MachineType: Apple Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 926917] Re: Mouse wheel tilt not works
This may have a similar root cause as bug #932439, although the symptoms are different. If you downgrade -evdev does it restore the proper behavior? If not, this might be a regression in the xserver or kernel. You may still have the older driver in /var/cache/apt/, or if not you can download the appropriate .deb from here: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/xserver-xorg-input- evdev/1:2.6.99.901-1ubuntu3 Links to the different .debs are under the Builds column at the lower right. (Btw, for future reference please file X bugs using the command 'ubuntu- bug xorg'. Bugs filed directly through launchpad don't include the log files we need, and don't get tagged properly so us developers don't see your report.) ** Tags added: precise regression ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/926917 Title: Mouse wheel tilt not works To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/926917/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 933956] [NEW] (precise) Keyboard stops working sometimes when shift is pressed
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Since today's updates, the keyboard stops working almost everytime shift is pressed, and the current text field being used loses focus.
