[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 972727] Re: Synaptics Clickpad functionalities incomplete: Right button area, two-tap disabling

2012-04-05 Thread Mason
OK, I am good with that...except I could use help on the easily enabled part:
I checked in System Settings--Mouse and Touchpad and there is no option to
turn on the right button or the middle button. Is there a more obvious place to
look?
Also, you haven't mentioned that the middle button can even be enabled, is that
possible?
Thanks for your help.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 973358] Re: Monitor lost Resolution from 1920x1080 to 1024x768.

2012-04-05 Thread Valombre
Thanks for answers, all back to normal this morning after the usually
updates and reboot (exception of the debian grub in place of ubuntu but
different matter ;).

Then after reboot the resolution was ok for authentication, and after
login in ubuntu standard session changing resolution settings was ok
because the monitor was detected correctly again ..

Yesterday i tried also all monitor reset/degauss stuff but wasn't
solving.

Really i have no clue of what appended really, the only thing that
changed is the apparition of the video card model in the detail gui
where you can see the model of your graphic card /Gpu, after the fresh
install there was nothing and now the intel G41 appear.

Perhaps between yesterday and today there was some updates about this
driver causing some monitor detection failure, just guessing of course.

For now all is ok, i think you can close the bug.
Thank for your time.

Was using DOSBox earlier and I noticed that vsync was not enabled. I
can also see vsync is not enabled while I type at the terminal wrapped

I installed CCSM and verified that Sync to VBlank was already enabled.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 946311] Re: only external screen is working with asus zenbook ux31e

2012-04-05 Thread Adrien Cunin
Same problem here: can't display both on the laptop screen and on an external
monitor. Laptop screen alone is ok; when plugging the external monitor with
VGA, I can only use that external monitor.
It used to work. Dell Latitude E5410, i915 driver.

There are quite a lot of this in Xorg.0.log:
[ 614.160] (WW) intel(0): flip queue failed: Device or resource busy
[ 614.160] (WW) intel(0): Page flip failed: Device or resource busy

When using xrandr:
% xrandr --output eDP1 --auto --output VGA1 --auto --same-as eDP1
xrandr: cannot find crtc for output eDP1

When using gnome-control-center display, dmesg says:
[ 107.800350] [drm:drm_crtc_helper_set_config] *ERROR* failed to set mode on
[CRTC:3]

I can test experimental packages or workarounds if needed. :-)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 974041] [NEW] KWin option of auto-suspending for fullscreen windows often causes X to crash in libdrm_intel

2012-04-05 Thread Roman
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu release: KUbuntu 12.04 (beta)
libdrm-intel1 2.4.32, xserver-xorg-core 1.11.4

In the Ubuntu 12.04 with the KWin option suspend desktop effects for
fullscreen windows
enabled, I often get X crashes. This usually occures when I just exit from a
fullscreen application,
before the usual KDE desktop should show up. Such thing usually happens with
applications running
under wine, but recently I got a similar crash with the usual KDE screensaver.
X server just restarts
and all unsaved work in my KDE session gets lost.

In the Xorg.0.log.old I find some stack backtrace, which may differ from case
to case, but it always
ends in libdrm_intel. I attach a few examples below. I realize that these logs
are possibly not very useful
(there are only raw addresses), but I have no idea how to make X to dump more
detailed backtrace,
with full debug info. These crashes are rather well reproducible, and if
someone explains how to get
more detailed information, I will gladly do this.

just about dropping from being supported it makes no sense to try to get
it fixed.

the remaining problems where not in kernel modules but in the synaptics

2012/4/4 Bryce Harrington 973...@bugs.launchpad.net

Interesting, I notice the nvidia driver version being reported here is
the same as it was on the other bug:

NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86 Kernel Module 285.05.33 Thu Jan 19
 15:24:04 PST 2012

and that's quite old. I wonder if your installation got corrupted?

Anyway, this is the cause of your performance loss. From Xorg.0.log it
indicates this old nvidia is not compatible with the xserver, so is
running in some sort of compatibility mode:

[ 625.647] (WW) NVIDIA: This server has an unsupported input driver ABI
version (have 16.0, need 14.0). The driver will continue to load, but
 may behave strangely.
 [ 626.504] (II) NVIDIA dlloader X Driver 285.05.33 Thu Jan 19 15:25:37
 PST 2012

Why don't you try completely removing and purging nvidia from your
system, and then reinstalling -nvidia through jockey again. Doublecheck
that your /var/log/Xorg.0.log shows NVIDIA dlloader X Driver 295 or
 similar.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 875305] Re: MacBookPro 5, 1 does not resume properly when lid is opened in 11.10

2012-04-05 Thread bugbot
We're closing this bug since there has not been a response from the original
reporter. However, the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the
requested information. If you're not the original reporter, we'd prefer you
file a new bug report.

Some tips:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 948053] Re: nvidia-96 and nvidia-173 uninstallable on Precise

2012-04-05 Thread Nicolas VILA
Hi guys, I have a solution for you (a painless workaround)
nvidia-173 drivers are not compatible with Xorg (ABI to be precise) version
released in 12.04.
So I stick with 11.10 version of Xorg. I had to make the following changes to
backport Xorg:

In /etc/apt/sources.list :

deb http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric main
deb-src http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric main

In /etc/apt/preferences:

Package: xserver-xorg*
Pin: release a=oneiric
Pin-Priority: 1050

Note related to nvidia-173 on Ubuntu 12.04:
I'm using old hardware with nvidia-173 drivers and I don't like the fact
composite is mandatory to use Unity correctly (very laggy) I had to force
composite to switch it off to avoid laggy windows by modifying
/etc/X11/xorg.conf:

Section Extensions
Option Composite Disable
EndSection

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 948053] Re: nvidia-96 and nvidia-173 uninstallable on Precise

2012-04-05 Thread Nicolas VILA
Forgot to mention that you need to run a sudo apt-get update and a sudo
apt-get dist-upgrade in order to downgrade Xorg to the version from Oneiric
(11.10)
Xorg is independent, so there is no conflict with any package from the rest of
12.04 release.
Enjoy.

Both Gnome Shell and Unity are loading icons in background threads, so
it's likely a thread-unsafety issue in pixman.

I experience the same on my laptop. But I think it's related to suspend.
Can usually suspend without problems, but then after one or several

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 432814] Re: Touchpad: Action for middle and right click is reversed since jaunty

2012-04-05 Thread Tom Arnold
Today some updates to Lubuntu 12.04 change the behaviour to double tap = right
click.
I consider that a bug and would like to see it fixed. I have a right button my
me EeePC.

synclient TapButton3=3 TapButton2=2 fixes it temporarily.

With every Fedora and Ubuntu release these problems crop up, I guess it
is because some Gnome devs think the Mac way of doing things is always
right. It is really annoying.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 974151] [NEW] Clickpad right click HP tm 2

2012-04-05 Thread Octavian
Public bug reported:

The (hardware-) right click isn't working instead it performs a left click. I
can't turn my touchpad off by doubletapping the LED.
I'm using a HP-Touchsmart 2.

Against other bug-reports, i'm able to drag drop.
With Ubuntu 11.10 i could tab 3 fingers (which did a middle-click), this is
also disabled.

2012-04-05 Thread Martin Owens
Admir - It's not an Ubuntu problem, it's a Linux kernel problem. Not
that anyone will admit that long enough to look into fixing it ;-). for
now we can all use the setting bios=pci in the grub's linux kernel init
configuration.

and wait.
