Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 994688] Re: Xorg crash
Hey, Op 23-06-12 02:59, Piyush Roy schreef: Yes, I am doing it locally. Not ssh. I have no way to ssh. Is it not good to do it locally ? If so then I am afraid I cant give output regarding this bug. If you are doing it from inside the X server itself, the first thing attaching a debugger does is stopping the program to be debugged. Since that's X, it wouldn't surprise me if that's why it locks, since it would need X to draw updates before you can see the output. You could switch to a virtual console from x with control-alt-f2 and run it there then switch back to the x server with alt-f1 or alt-f7 usually. ~Maarten ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 949130] Re: Display corrupts and flashes when changing resolution on GMA X3000
On Xubuntu 12.04, screen crashed exactly like shown on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuL9zjaGakMfeature=youtu.be. It only happened _after_ I logged out tried to log in from login screen. It didn't happened right after booting, where user is logged in automatically (without prompting user for password). A similar solution to the one suggested by candtalan (just above this post) worked for me: In a terminal type sudo nano /etc/default/grub find the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash change it to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=i915.modeset=0 quiet splash Type CTRL O to write the file Type CTRL X to exit Then type sudo update-grub - Taken from here: http://askubuntu.com/a/37679/72828 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/949130 Title: Display corrupts and flashes when changing resolution on GMA X3000 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/949130/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1017036] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 32-bit and ATI Rage 128 PRO Boot Screen Quality and ACPI S3 State resume problems
Public bug reported: Hi, There are several severe stability problems I have noticed with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 32-bit and ATI Page 128 PRO card. -Several flickers and junk is displayed during boot up and ACPI S3 State resume Please, eliminate these kinds of problems because this kind of issues are preventing Linux from competing with Microsoft Windows for the desktop PC market. These aren't crashes, but still, they are huge eyesores. - Starts up with very high screen resolution when it boots This causes problems when I try to move the computer from a very high resolution monitor (22 inch LCD monitor supporting 1600 X 1050) to a moderate resolution monitor (17 inch CRT minitor supporting 1024 X 768 at 75Hz). Shouldn't Ubuntu sense that the monitor being used doesn't support 1600 X 1050 screen resolution? - Generally, the redering is somewhat slow Is there any acceleration with ATI Rage 128 PRO? It seems like screen is being rendered by VESA driver according to System Settings - Details - OVerview because it says, Graphics VESA: R128. - ACPI S3 State resume doesn't work reliabily with LiveCD or doesn't at all when installed to a hard drive ACPI S3 State resume worked fine with Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS 32-bit with LiveCD. When tested with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 32-bit, it works some times, but does freeze fairly frequently when resuming. It doesn't work at all when Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 32-bit is installed to a hard drive. In this particular case, the computer will simply reboot when I try to resume from ACPI S3 State. I installed all the updates published to date (as of 6/23/2012) via Update Manager. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 995013] Re: Xorg freeze after lid closed/opened (screen turned off/on) several times
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 966744 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/966744 Does anyone else think this may not actually be a duplicate of 9766744? The bug described here (and what we are encountering) is that the entire machine locks when the lid is closed and reopened - we are not able to switch to a different vty, ssh into it, or even ping it on the local network. The symptoms in 976744 seem to only be related to suspend/resume, and seem to only be a graphical environment crash/hang (but the underlying system is still responsive). Lastly, is everyone here on the proprietary nvidia drivers when reproducing this? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/995013 Title: Xorg freeze after lid closed/opened (screen turned off/on) several times To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/995013/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1017033] [NEW] Always on top fails when minimizing fullscreen window
You have been subscribed to a public bug: 1. Make a window (window 1) always on top 2. Place another window (window 2) underneath window 1 3. Set another window to fullscreen (not maximized, use an application like Chrome that has a fullscreen mode) so it covers the same screen window 1 and 2 are on 4. Minimize the fullscreen window 5. click window 2 or 4. Close the fullscreen window The result is that window 2 covers window 1 rather than staying underneath it. Dirk, Since I upgraded the system has been somewhat unstable Please clarify what you were upgrading from and when the instability began. The dpkg log attached to your bug report shows that you installed several compiz-related packages today (compiz-plugins, compiz- plugins-main, python-compizconfig, compizconfig-settings-manager), but these appear to have been new installs, not upgrades of packages; and there is nothing in your log file that suggests a recent upgrade of X-related packages. ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1017045 Title: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in raise() - 12.04 on amd64 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1017045/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Steve, Sorry, you are correct the system was not upgraded. It is a fresh install of 12.04. I only used the word upgrade because yesterday, I was running 11.10 and decided to move to 12.04, though I did so via a fresh install.
