[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 971783] Re: 3 touch taps and clicks are broken
You can remedy this as well. Just put a script (user/group: root/root, executable) within the /etc/pm/sleep.d/ directory, the name starting with anything between 00 and 49, e.g. 01_enable_middleclick and following the instructions in /usr/share/doc/pm-utils/HOWTO.hooks.gz; this will be executed as root whenever the systems suspends or hibernates or resumes from either. Within this script call another script (e.g. /usr/local/sbin/enable_middleclick) as your username using su: #!/bin/bash case $1 in thaw|resume) su -c - yourusername /usr/local/sbin/enable_middleclick ;; *) ;; esac exit $? The referenced script /usr/local/sbin/enable_middleclick reads: #!/bin/bash DISPLAY=:0 synclient TapButton3=2 This ensures synclient knows where to apply the settings. That way three finger tap middle click even works after suspend or hibernation. Its a shame on has to resort to such nasty tricks to circumvent Unity's greediness as this bug should have been fixed within this package (one option to turn off the three tap feature would have been enough). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/971783 Title: 3 touch taps and clicks are broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/971783/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1021924] Re: Multiple Displays not working on Core i7 3770S + Intel DQ77MK motherboard
Also, I've enabled the xorg-edgers PPA and upgraded Xorg. The theme issue mentioned in comment #5 may be due to this, but I'm unsure. I also tried kernel 3.5 from that PPA, but when booting that kernel, Xorg locks up the system in some manner such that there is no keyboard or mouse input, nor does the soft power button work to shut down correctly. The cursor in the lightdm screen for password entry continued to blink though, and during one attempt to use 3.5, I did notice on the lightdm screen, there appeared to be a framebuffer vt cursor blinking in the upper left as well. I would be very happy to have this fixed, and even install Quantal on this machine, but I can't install it while the system just freezes at the end of the boot sequence (as it also does on the daily live images now). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1021924 Title: Multiple Displays not working on Core i7 3770S + Intel DQ77MK motherboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1021924/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1022303] [NEW] Regression from 11.04 / 11.10 to 12.04 on NF 7050 / 7025
Public bug reported: Actually, I am not sure that it is a nouveau-bug; could be nvidia / nv, whatnot. What happened is, I had a working install (Kubuntu). After the normal upgrade to 12.04, all was lost. nouveau wasn´t doing okay, with strange effects, wrong colours, slowliness overall. So I decided to use the binary blob from NVIDIA. Since that reboot, com, pletely nothing. Kubuntu would start, but then remain so slow that the panels could not build up completely; I could not even get a console to run `top`. Lost cause. So I reinstalled Ubuntu 12.04 from scratch (ISO), that is Unity, over it. Somehow, during the installation it also did NVIDIA, again. After the first reboot, the same happened: totally slow. Just the background and a black line where the panel should come up. No chance with Ctrl-Alt-Del; only Ctrl-Alt-F4; back to command line. So i could at least harvest the Xorg log file and reboot to failsafe. Failsafe also didn´t work, and I could harvest the Xorg Failsafe file. Another reboot, and set Unity to 2D. Now this works okay, though, again, with the NVIDIA-driver. The Xorg log is attached as well. Strange enough: With NVIDIA, no 3D-acceleration With NVIDIA total slowness of the two independent systems There is a - to me - strange loading and unloading of drivers going on (see the Xorg log files). i could only make out that the NVIDIA is actually active by checking it settings (NVIDIA X Server Settings shows that the driver used is NVIDIA). The auto-generated xorg.conf is Section Device Identifier Default Device Option NoLogoTrue EndSection To me this is a bug and regression, because it was okay (at least better if not normal) before the upgrade. Secondly, a fresh install should work. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1022376] [NEW] Unaccelerated Video with installed Intel Video Card by default
Public bug reported: As far as I can work out (from performance) this machine is not using the graphics acceleration available in the installed Intel video card. Although xserver-xorg-video-intel is installed, perhaps there are other video acceleration libraries or configurations which need to be loaded to benefit. Currently, using the following video as a reference loaded in Google Chrome, with HD turned off, and with the video embedded in the webpage (no fullscreening)... http://vimeo.com/44535515 ...I'm getting something like 4 frames a second, which seems slow even for this system. My guess is that there's something not installed or not configured, but there seem like a lot of options and I don't really know where to start. Perhaps libva-X11-1 would make a difference? There's discussion of Mesa, DRI and some PPAs to try like https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive /graphics-drivers/ , but I'd be testing almost entirely at random because I don't know how to diagnose the current situation. Happy to experiment in any direction which makes sense. Grateful for any help or suggestions, with the aim of being able to auto-detect this hardware in future versions to avoid the configuration step. Equally if there's a different way to load internet video which loads the proper accelerations, that would be useful to know. The weird graphics artifacts in the apps I've noticed seem to have gotten worse than when I made that comment. I have never hit this bug before, but for reference, I just hit it on a 10.04 LTS system; I let update-manager update it all the time so it should have all the lucid updates. It was freshly installed to 10.04 from a CD about 2 years ago. x86-64. I wasn't doing anything weird, I had just picked up the laptop after having used it fine a few minutes prior. The same behaviour described above in the bug (left clicks going to focused window even if outside of it, right clicking on desktop seems to fix it) occured so I'm pretty sure I'm seeing the same thing. Being that I've been using this laptop with 10.04 nearly every day for over two years, I'd say that this is a pretty rare bug for me, but since the bug report matched exactly (and told me the workaround), I figured I'd add a comment.
