[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1057349] [NEW] Random log off in Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS

2012-09-27 Thread Kirils Solovjovs
Public bug reported:

I get logged off from Ubuntu sometimes. There is no error message or any
indication that it is going to log off. The screen goes black, and after
2-4 seconds, i get presented with the Ubuntu Log On Screen.

There is no clear pattern (or at least if have not noticed any). One
time i am working with Netbeans, another time i am using firefox. This
also means that at present i can not clearly say what package might be
causing this behaviour.

This first started happening to me not more than a week ago.

Symptoms are very similar to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/980519

I am using Module fglrxdrm: vendor=FireGL - ATI Technologies Inc.

My system info is attached here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/980519/+attachment/3344430/+files/lshw.txt

Are there any changes recently commited that could have caused this?

I am using the up-to-date versions.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1043636] [NEW] Graphics/screen error bug does not allow computer to loggon

2012-09-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I used the computer that this happened on about 2 hours before the bug
occured, it worked Normally apart from loading grub a bit slow. So I
turn it on and it gets to a screen that says something along the lines
of there is a problem with the graphics or screen and I that they needed
to be reconfigure manually. It had 4 choises, they were something along
the lines of:

- Run in failsafe graphics for just one session
- Reconfigure video
- Troubleshoot
- Drop to root for login

For the first option it would not load after saying 'Starting...' and
would just hang there for a while

For the second option I could reocnfiure from defualts of saved back-up.
Neither worked and would flash back to the same window.

The third option did something and showed me logs, failed to show a boot
log.

The fourth did the same as the first option.

The bug disappeared after removing files from my home directory.

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1056381] Re: error on x startup

2012-09-27 Thread Serge Hallyn
Quoting Timo Aaltonen (tjaal...@ubuntu.com):
I've added spice and spice-protocol to this bug for tracking the
updates. Should we just move forward or do you think we need an FFe?

I've asked on #ubuntu-release yesterday - FFE is not needed for qxl, and
the feeling seemed to be that it's not needed for spice, though we should
ask again.

Sounds pretty much broken right now, so fixing it should be a priority
despite the new version numbers :)

Have you been able to build-test your suggestion, with a full new
xserver and the full new qxl release?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 948053] Re: nvidia-173 and nvidia-96 uninstallable on Precise

2012-09-27 Thread giardia
i hope nvidia96 will be available in ubuntu's repo, everythime they
release a new kernel (that is happening more often nowadays) i have to
install again the driver; also i receive updates about xorg recently,
when i restart, the pc was in a loop at login, so i restart in safe
mode, and to solve i removed and installed again the nvidia.run, it said
the driver was corrupted by a recent installation and give the error
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so is not a symbolic link. but i
was able to reinstall and now it work again as before.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 966744] Re: [i965] Resume from suspend leaves me with black screen or a screen of the desktop before it suspended. Compiz hung in intel_update_renderbuffers() from intel_prepare_r

2012-09-27 Thread benmhall
Hello.

For me, Christian Dysthe's suggestion (#269) only prevented my ThinkPad
X200s from going to sleep.

This is a frustrating bug that greatly affects my use of the system.
Interestingly, I took an image of my ThinkPad X200s and put the drive in
a ThinkPad T500 (Same vintage but with an ATI 3650) and the system
suspends and resumes perfectly.

An ATI card working better at suspend and resume in Linux than an Intel
card. Who'd have thought.

hey folks, I've pushed a snapshot from current -intel git master (will
hopefully become 2.20.9 soon..) to my ppa *for quantal*:

https://launchpad.net/~tjaalton/+archive/ppa
(amd64 built, i386 building soon)

I have confirmations from two subscribers that it has fixed the hang.
Further testing is welcome.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1057713] [NEW] in kvm-spice X exits with assertion in dixPrivatesSize

2012-09-27 Thread janevert
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1056381 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1056381

Public bug reported:

I have a virtual machine that uses kvm-spice with quantal in it (up to
date with today). The login screen does not appear and the lightdm
logfile shows a failed assertion.

In /var/log/lightdm/x-0.log:
X: ../../dix/privates.c:560: dixPrivatesSize: Assertion
`!screen_specific_private[type]' failed.

I'll attach the lightdm logfiles, Xorg logfiles as well as a crash file
(of X) that is probably from the crash (as best as I can tell from the
timestamp it is from the same minute).

X uses the qxl driver. Using the cirrus driver doesn't cause a crash.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1057747] [NEW] Wallpaper

2012-09-27 Thread Georgi Lyubomirov
Public bug reported:

Sometimes after continual use the wallpaper and sometimes the names after I go
over an icon are displayed erroneously.
Also, another thing is sometimes Ubuntu loads after restart to a screen saying
press F to fix. It works after I press F but I prefer without that thing
happening.
Another thing is I have to click two times on Artha dictionary to start.
The weather indicator stopped working.
I cannot find the Show Desktop icon anymore.
I prefer Ubuntu to have changing automatically wallpapers, like a slideshow.
Can you add more themes?
One time I had to restart two times after using Libre Office for longer.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 937822] Re: [precise] F10 always opens the menu, cannot be overriden (after xkeyboard-config update)

2012-09-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package xkeyboard-config - 2.5-1ubuntu7

---
xkeyboard-config (2.5-1ubuntu7) quantal; urgency=low

  * Add patch 114_shift_f10.patch. Don't let Ctrl+Alt consume Shift, else
it causes Shift-F10 to be treated as F10. This can result in popup

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1054344] Re: Please mark xterm as Multi-arch: foreign

2012-09-27 Thread Ubuntu Foundation's Bug Bot
The attachment xterm.quantal.debdiff of this bug report has been
identified as being a patch in the form of a debdiff. The ubuntu-
sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report so that they can
review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. In the event that this is in
fact not a patch you can resolve this situation by removing the tag
'patch' from the bug report and editing the attachment so that it is not
flagged as a patch. Additionally, if you are member of the ubuntu-
sponsors team please also unsubscribe the team from this bug report.

suffer from this particular bug.

The bug still occurs in the latest xf86-video-intel driver from git (as
of 27/9/12), though. It generally occurs when focus changes, eg when a
menu or popup window is opening.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1055236] Re: glxinfo crashed with SIGSEGV in xcb_glx_query_server_string_string_length()

2012-09-27 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
I don't think it's particularly useful to fix this; there can be, and
are, arbitrary differences between the free libglx and the proprietary
drivers' libglxes, any one of which could cause a mismatched client to
crash.

I don't think this is common enough to invest resources in to fix.
