[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1078726] Re: nvidia driver no direct rendering unless root

2012-11-15 Thread flomine
Same thing with nvidia driver version 304.

It looks like quite similar to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-180/+bug/370249
but without Vmware.

No freeze with kernel: Linux 3.6.0-030600rc7-generic #201209232235 SMP

However, I can not show anything on laptop display. it stays blank, if
the HDMI cable was connected during boot.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1063969] Re: NVIDIA does not work with framebuffer drivers

2012-11-15 Thread Swâmi Petaramesh
The instructions in bug #1063969 comment #7 allowed me to re-enable
graphical splash on all of the 3 following NVidia configs - and all keep
properly working framebuffer text consoles 1-6 :

- Toshiba Satellite L735-101 : NVIDIA GPU GeForce 315M (GT218)
- Dell Inspiron 9300 : NVIDIA GPU GeForce Go 6800 (NV41)
- Asus M3N78-VM Motherboard with integrated NVIDIA GPU GeForce 8200 (C77)

Works perfectly, so why does this damn NVidia drivers package blacklist
framebuffers ?

Alberto, can you give us some sort of feedback?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1068341] Re: No way to specify correct dependencies for dkms packages (nvidia driver install fails to get matching header)

2012-11-15 Thread Lekensteyn
Since 12.10, the kernel header packages for Ubuntu are not installed by
default. This breaks all DKMS modules, including virtualbox and nvidia-
current. I maintain the DKMS module bbswitch and it is tempting to add
a dependency on linux-headers-generic because Ubuntu/dkms screws this
up.

DKMS is used for building kernel modules, without headers it cannot do
anything. In Raring, the dependency on linux-headers is completely
removed, trusting the initial Ubuntu installer even more. Is this
reasonable? I don't think so, the dependencies should be handled by
dpkg, not by the installer. If DKMS cannot function without kernel
headers, it MUST install kernel headers.

** Also affects: dkms (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

nvidia-* to just linux-headers-generic instead of linux-headers-generic

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1041916] Re: Touchpad of Fujitsu LifeBook AH532 not recognized

2012-11-15 Thread Michael Nagel
I have a Lifebook AH532 here as well, I use 12.04.1 with no 3rd party
repos/ppa whatever.

xinput --list
shows:
PS/2 Generic Mouse

and the trackpad works just fine, even though it is not recognized in the way
described above.
could you explain what the problems/symptoms are with the default setup?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1041916] Re: Touchpad of Fujitsu LifeBook AH532 not recognized

2012-11-15 Thread Tom Johnson
Your touchpad has fallen back into a compatibility mode as it hasn't
been recognised by the kernel. As such, none of the fancy things you can
do with it (two-finger scroll, two-finger right-click, disable on typing
etc) are disabled.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1077427] Re: System randomly hangs. Sometimes when unattended, sometimes using firefox

2012-11-15 Thread John Mc
I ran some tests yesterday as this host was crashing too frequently and
unusable. I reloaded from scratch with a 12.10 x64 distro and disabled
UEFI and also created an XFS root disk partition as opposed to the
standard ext4 filesystem. Only Firefox was loaded. the Nvidia drivers
had not even been installed and X froze. I was able to ssh in and see
the Noveau errors in syslog. [scrollback truncated]... i was unable to
capture the errors today from yesterday's session.

I made some changes and my system is now running stable. Not a single
crash. My choices were to purchase a different graphics card (big
unknown) or to reload a know good OS.

$ cat /etc/issue
Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS \n \l

Sorry ubuntu 12.XX

Hi,
Yes, touchpad has basic mouse functionality,
But scroll area to the right and multi
Touch would work with a proper driver.

I have a Lifebook AH532 here as well, I use 12.04.1 with no 3rd party

xinput --list
shows:
PS/2 Generic Mouse

and the trackpad works just fine, even though it is not recognized in the way
described above.
could you explain what the problems/symptoms are with the default setup?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993655] [NEW] Unity looses mouse click handler when using enabling USB headset

2012-11-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have a Plantronics D100 headset.

When I press the button on the headset to enable it, Unity looses its
click handler, in that it can not click and drag windows.

The cursor is visible and moves just fine. I can switch applications
using Alt+Tab, and I can launch new applications using the keyboard. But
I cannot close the existing window, or change focus to another window by
using the mouse.

The Headset microphone and speaker work just fine!

Tested this on a laptop and desktop machine. Both running Ubuntu 12.04.

The headset I'm using is a Plantronics D100 unit.

I have had this problem for the past month while on the 12.04 beta release.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993655] Re: Unity looses mouse click handler when using enabling USB headset

2012-11-15 Thread Jevonearth
I updated this bug so that it is no longer marked as a duplicate of
#1007575 as that issue concerns a different make model of device,
though same class of device, and as far as I can see, identical issue.

Here's hoping we get some developer love on this issue.
