tried uninstalling and reinstalling some things, are you sure your version of xserver//intel works with my intel 3000 card? I dont know why i cant use switcheroo anymore, i tried your 7 steps again a couple of times, but i cant get past the low graphics warning, and now i cant get back to the intel sandybridge drivers, just this gallium one. It looks like im going to have to reinstall my system, again. I dont know why- after at least 3 months of this problem, and seemingly hundreds of users affected, multiple bug reports, it hasn't been sorted yet, tonnes of people have been helped by your work around, i try to be proactive and sell ubuntu to my friends, but they'd all laugh now, because i cant get a working system, for 3 months. Grr, anyway, rant over, it'll take me a couple of hours to back up my data, then i'll reinstall, unless you have a better idea. At least a re-install will make troubleshooting more simple. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1089102] Re: 1002:6760 ATI Low graphics mode, with 8086:0126 Intel system via fglrx
Ranting apart, there are steps you need to do to bring your system in a stable situation, removing the external PPAs. If you open synaptic, you go (lower left) to Origins and you see all the LP-PPA enabled. Check all of them and make sure that you have nothing related to X server/intel/fglrx installed from there (if it is from mine, it is ok). Do the same thing for the packages in local. For each such package you have to choose another version: Click on the package and press Ctrl+E and choose an official version. After you do all of this, run this command : apt-cache policy `dpkg -l|awk '/^i/{print $2}'` packages It will produce a file package, just attach it here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1089102 Title: 1002:6760 ATI Low graphics mode, with 8086:0126 Intel system via fglrx To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1089102/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1085916] [NEW] when disabling touchpad , mypaint functions make ubuntu crash, and reverts to login screen
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I disable the touchpad to make sure I don't accidentally make strokes on the canvas with my palm. this I do with : xinput set-prop 14 Device Enabled 0 with 14 being my touchscreen ID. On Ubuntu precise 12.04 this posed no problem. On Quantal 12.10 this exexutes fine ,seemingly without a problem. But when I go to mypaint and try to do some work in it (like panning or changing some modes) I get a black screen and get reverted to login screen. My device is the asus EP 121. It uses a wacom penabled input tool. The touchpad that I disable is the screen, only for finger input. I was advised to enclose the x server log. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment -- when disabling touchpad , mypaint functions make ubuntu crash, and reverts to login screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1085916 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1089620] [NEW] Clicking on Intuos4 medium tablet buttons breaks brush movement in GIMP 2.8.2. and MyPaint 1.0.0
Public bug reported: Tablet buttons are default (not configured at all) For GIMP: 1) set stylus, eraser, cursor and pad to screen mode 2) draw a line with brush, notice success 3) start drawing a line and press one of the 8 buttons on Intuos4, brush movement stops immediately 4) if stylus mode is set to relative mode via command *xsetwacom set Wacom Intuos4 6x9 stylus mode Relative* and one of the 8 buttons on Intuos4 is pressed then the pressure sensitivity will stop working properly also (brush will constantly look same as if it was pressed down hard) For MyPaint (problem only in relative mode): 1) pen input is set to screen mode 2) stylus mode is set to relative mode via command *xsetwacom set Wacom Intuos4 6x9 stylus mode Relative* 3) start drawing a line and press one of the 8 buttons on Intuos4, the brush sensitivity will break immediately (brush will look as if it was pressed down hard); brush is also stuck (meaning: won't stop drawing on the screen even if stylus does not touch the Intuos4 surface anymore) Also while stylus is set to relative mode, once the bug is triggered in gimp it will carry on to mypaint and vice-versa (broken sens in gimp -- broken sens + stuck in mypaint) and I can only stop it if I click on desktop background with my mouse. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1088220] Re: Periodic Xserver crash when using integrated GPU in flgrx/Intel systems
** Description changed: My computer is Sony Vaio VPCCB2S1E with these GPUs: Intel® HD Graphics 3000 AMD Radeon™ HD 6630M I have fglrx drivers in my hybrid fglrx/intel system and I am using the integrated GPU, setup by: amdconfig --px-igpu The problem is that in every reboot after I have successfully used the iGPU, the X server to crashes, which means: - One time the X server loads normally ** - One time the X server crashes, giving the error in the attached log and the only thing I can do is reboot the system This periodic behaviour is totally reproducible: once it crashes, after the reboot it works fine, on the next reboot crashes again, and so on... ** I had to use the patched fglrx/intel drivers from: https://launchpad.net/~andrikos/+archive/ppa in order to avoid Bug #1068404 - WORKAROUND: An obvious workaround (not a solution) is to use the discrete ATI GPU by giving: - amdconfig --px-dgpu + WORKAROUND: Run this command (as root) after every reboot: + aticonfig --del-pcs-key=DDX,PX_GPUDOWN I post two logs, both of them crashes when I reboot after I have successfully used the iGPU. Their difference is that the first one refers to the configuration where the iGPU is used again and it is the procedure described above. The second one shows what happens if I select the dGPU before I reboot (running amdconfig --px-dgpu, while using the iGPU). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
For me, lots of time it freezes totally (keyboard lights blink, no mouse, no keyboard, no ssh) while working with just firefox, I don't use chrome, no compiz, and no unity. I log in using Gnome Classic (no effect) Many times although not all the time, I previously play some video, either MP4 from my harddrive or streaming from internet such as youtube. Lots of times it also happens while soundcard is playing something. And hard crash happens with the sound keep repeating until it reboots. Asus Mainboard, Core2Duo, Geforce 7600, 2GB ram. Nvidia 3.04.64 and kernel 3.6.3-030603-generic I still don't know whether this is a kernel or ubuntu problem only. I kind of suspect the problem has to do with driver (network or sound or nvidia). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
Ok, For those of you new here: This bug is about a complete system lock-up. No other TTYs can be started. Mouse doesn't move. Keyboard doesn't react. The only solution is hard reset. Seems to happen on a variety of configurations, including nVidia, ATI and Intel graphics. If you are still able to TTY or SSH into other sessions, move the mouse or use the keyboard, file another bug. This is no compiz or X problem where you can still access your system. This bug is about TOTAL freeze and there's nothing you can do other than reboot. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently. Hi, I have an update on this bug. For Bug (2) (See bug description: The graphics starts out in interlaced mode if I use Gateway EV700 CRT monitor with it), I will report that this is a regression. When I tested SiS 661GX integrated graphcis (SiS Mirage 1 integrated graphics) with Ubuntu 11.10, the screen did not go into interlaced mode. But it will display the screen in interlaced mode in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. This regression was observed on ASUS P4S8X-MX mainboard.
