[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1119581] Re: display divided into 1 - 2 - 3 and showing as 3 - 2- 1

2013-02-10 Thread melchiaros
I have changed the summary, because you are on Ubuntu 13.04 and not
12.10 as you have written.

Could you give some sentences more on the problem.

Your description is as short as that it is a little bit cryptic.

At best you have a reproducing procedure like:

(step1,
 step2,
.
.
.
finished)

that can bring a biginner to the point where the problem happens.

For now I set the status of the report to incomplete. Feel free to set
it yourself back to new when you find the time to provide a description.

Thank you

melchiaros

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1046675] Re: macbook air 4, 1 trackpad does not work on upgrade to quantal from precise

2013-02-10 Thread melchiaros
Clint,

I ahve made a adaption of the summary. You have written from quantal to
precise. Regarding to the headline I have seen this as twist and
changed it to from precise to quantal.

Please have a check if this is correct.

I also add a regression-release, because as you have written in precise
all was working and the following xservers in quantal and raring are
doing not their job anymore.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1121074] Re: drivers doenst work proprely

2013-02-10 Thread Dave Lentz
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information.

In what way don't the drivers work? Please be more specific. At a minimum, we
need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

2013-02-10 Thread itsjustarumour
@Christopher M Penalver - no, the bug as reported on this same machine
with same hardware did not exist in any releases prior to Quantal (its
had everything installed on it from Lucid 10.04 onwards, which all
worked fine before Quantal).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1116587] Re: Lenovo T400: With external monitor the system is rarely working for more than 10 minutes

2013-02-10 Thread Felix Möller
Comment #4 seems to be influenced by other factors. After using the
system for an hour with EXA instead of SNA I suspect SNA to be the
issue.

Where should I continue with this?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1121243] [NEW] touch is too sensitive

2013-02-10 Thread Carli
Public bug reported:

When I click with a mouse, it is fairly easy to not move the mouse while
clicking.

With a touchscreen, it is more difficult. Tapping with the finger means that
the finger rolls on the screen. (It's not that exact like it is with a mouse)
A small movement of just one pixel is interpreted my applications as drag, but
not as click.
Tested on the WeTab.

My suggestion: snap the mouse position for touchscreens when the finger
moved less than 5 pixels and less than 100 ms.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.

2013-02-10 Thread uakf.b
I'm getting the same effect, where system freezes, screen is completely
blank, keyboard is not responding (for example, num lock key won't
toggle or anything), and SSH and ping and any other services don't
respond.

Every time it happens it has been during idle time, and usually after
several hours of idle. It happens every two to four days, and after that
I have to do a hard restart to get it working again.

Running Ubuntu 12.04 (32-bit) with Gnome shell.
Kernel: 3.5.0-23-generic

upgrade mesa. Use the xorg-edgers PPA for that. https://launchpad.net

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1121179] Re: Ubuntu 12.04.2 alternate AMD 64 ISO image Feb 10 installing mesa 8.0.4 not 9.0.0 - LTS quantal

2013-02-10 Thread Philip Wyett
This is todays 12.04.2 ISO image for QA testing before release. This
release wil have a new kernel and X/mesa bits.

See: https://wiki.kubuntu.org/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack

If the LTS quantal 3.5.0 kernel as part of this point release is being
instaled, then other newer components above should also be.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1121295] [NEW] Low Video Resolution -- need 1440x900 for an Envision 19 monitor

2013-02-10 Thread methusela238
Public bug reported:

Its an Intel® Core™2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz × 2, with a Intel® G45/G43
graphic controller, and 3.8 GiB of ram. There should be enough system
resources to support the higher resolution. The OS isn't detecting the
monitor, and is using a default driver set at 1024x768; which is too low
to be convenient sometimes. I've tried a couple of different
recommended fixes. Installing driver add ons, making an xorg.conf,
attempting to select/edit a new resolution with xrandr. None of these
worked. I even tried two different Nvidia cards, both of which ran very
glitchy, and would either lock the system up, or not work at all. When
my book disk is ran, it runs it in 1440 x 900 just fine... but when its
installed on the drive, the default resolution is the lower one.

Still, I like Ubuntu and its done very well for me on the whole.
Everything else is working just fine, as far as I can tell. I even
installed Netflix and got it to work.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1121295] Re: Low Video Resolution -- need 1440x900 for an Envision 19 monitor

2013-02-10 Thread methusela238
** Description changed:

When
- my book disk is ran, it runs it in 1440 x 900 just fine... but when its
- installed on the drive, the default resolution is the lower one.
+ my usb boot disk is ran, it runs it in 1440 x 900 just fine... but when
+ its installed on the drive, the default resolution is the lower one.

Still, I like Ubuntu and its done very well for me on the whole.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1066721] Re: Memory leaks in xorg-server in Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS.

2013-02-10 Thread klmorgan
I am having the same issue. When using skype after a minute or two
memory usage starts climbing and then swap starts climbing, eventually
memory gets to about 80% and swap goes to 100%, of course everything
comes to a screeching halt and system locks up and sometimes crashes.
ubuntu 10.4 with all updates, 3G RAM and 1.6G of swap. My other system
with same OS and 2G of RAM and same version of skype (4.1.0.20) never
has a problem.

2013-02-10 Thread mmu2s
I'm also struggling with this issue for a while now. I had the random
crash during 2012, it stopped as soon as i stopped using Unity3D /
compiz.

I'm not sure that it's completely related to this, but configuring VAAPI
HW decoding in many applications (I've tried both mythtv and xmbc)
triggers the gpu hang event quite quickly. The side effect is the crash
of the related program as well...

I had some success with the latest xorg-edgers + kernel 3.5 for some
time but it was not stable overall.

My HW configuration is quite plain (Asus P8H67-PRO / Intel i3 +
integrated HD2000), the only specificites are a HauppageTV card (my
configuration is a HTPC) and the HDMI output used as the main screen.
This may not play a major role, though.

is scrolling up and down and the above error lines are repeated at Xorg.0.log.
Expected behavior: No error messages should be generated.
12. Remove the finger from the screen and move the mouse around the screen.
Nautilus window is scrolling according to mouse movement. Expected behavior: no
scrolling should happen at nautilus window.
13. Click with the mouse inside nautilus window. The rectangle selector appears
and follows mouse movement. Expected behavior: A single click should not
trigger the rectangle selector.

After these steps mouse and touch have a strange and unstable behavior:
Mouse movement erroneously selects text without holding down the mouse
button, clicks and touches at windows do not give focus, clicks and
touches to buttons to not cause a press event, alt+tab is not
functioning.

Touching with more fingers (3 or 4) produces a similar error with point
number varying from 0 to 3 (e.g. (EE) [dix] N-trig DuoSense: unable to
find touch point 2), and after that any gesture fails producing the
above error messages.

I attach:
* geistest output
* lsb_release -a output
* lshw output
* lsinput output
* lspci -vnvn output
* mtdev-test output
* ntrig-calibrator output
* uname -a output
* cat /proc/version_signature output
* Xorg.0.log

I can perform any testing and reporting on Sony VAIO Duo 11 device. I
have quite advanced technical skills on ubuntu, compiling, config files
e.t.c. I would appreciate any guidance in order to investigate and
finally solve this bug.

I was having the exact same issue as Marcin Domanski #149. In addition,
I was having screen artifacts.

Switching from the proprietary Nvidia version current to post-release
updates fixed the issue (for 30 minutes now). Hopefully will continue
and work for you!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1068404] Re: Low graphics mode in muxless hybrid ATI/Intel GPU systems after fglrx upgrade

2013-02-10 Thread Nick Andrik
I have packaged the latest beta version from upstream 13.2-beta3 in my PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~andrikos/+archive/xserver/

In my system, this version resolves the problem without the need to
change anything in the intel driver (just use the default
2:2.20.9-0ubuntu2 version shipping in quantal).

Could anyone please test the packages in your systems in order to see if
it is a proper fix and if any regressions appear?

Thanks,
Nick

Hello,

on armv4t (neo freerunner) we're using xorg from git master and 1.7
branch. There is reproducible segfault in miPointerUpdateSprite()

Not sure where exactly, because first it occured in
miDCRestoreUnderCursor(), so commented this function out and tested
again and it occured in miDCSaveUnderCursor(), so I commented this one
too and it occured in miDCPutUpCursor().

With all miPointerUpdateSprite() calls commented out it works good (just
cursor background isn't redrawn).

Another workaround is to run Xorg with -nocursor.

Easiest way to reproduce this is run terminal (vala-terminal) and on
screen keyboard (illume-keyboard) and type wery quickly. Maybe its
because every key-press is highlighted with key drawn slightly above
keyboard, so we're redrawing the same part of screen twice (for cursor-
left redraw and key updown - maybe some concurrency).

Maybe the problem lives in DDX driver for SMedia Glamo graphics

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1068404] Re: Low graphics mode in muxless hybrid ATI/Intel GPU systems after fglrx upgrade

2013-02-10 Thread udit mahajan
Did not work for me. I downloaded the tarball from ati website a couple of days
ago. I did not really check te error i got this time though.. aticonfig did not
give any error, unlike earlier but the system started in low graphics mode.
I just switched to previous ati driver because I highly doubt I will be getting
anything extra from new drivers..

Kernel version: 2.6.35 (same problem in 2.6.34 but not in 2.6.33)
Arch: i686
xorg-server: 1.8.1.902
mesa / intel-dri: 7.8.2
xf86-video-intel: 2.12.0
libdrm version: 2.4.21

Linux distribution: Arch linux (similar issues reported for fedora too)
Machine model: Asus 1005HA
Display Connector: LVDS (happens on VGA too)

Reproducible: Always

Step to reproduce:
---
Compile mesa demos
Launch teapot
Observe the framerate
Move the mouse around
Observe the framerate jumping
(in my case it went from 14~125 to 30 just by putting my finger on the touchpad)

Roll back to kernel 2.6.33
Launch teapot
Observe that there is no difference in framerate if you move the mouse around,
notice the framerate is high (30fps for me) in any case.

Even if just changing kernel version makes the bug disappear, i think it is
more logical to file a bug report here.
I i made i mistake, i apologize.

The issue is that we rely on vblank interrupts arriving at the correct
frequency, and on some platforms when the CPU is in a deep sleep state,
it won't wake up when a vblank interrupt arrives, but it will wake up
when other device interrupts arrive. That's why you see the performance
increase when you move the mouse.

I still don't know the root cause, but if the above works for you, then
it's a duplicate of a known bug at least.

I don't know how to make teapot runs in fullscreen mode, the best i've done was
to launch it in a empty X screen by xterm without any WM and the problem
persists.
With compiz enabled (and unredirect fullscreen windows) i was able to make it
fullscreen too with a shortcut, the problem persists.

Pagefilps were disabled in my system because of stability issues
(enabled in kernel, disabled in X), i tried to recompile the driver to
enable them again for a while and tried again, no success.

I can't say if something is blocking interrupts in my system, sorry,
anyway, listening to an mp3 in background helped a bit (fps went from 15
to 20 in teapot)

A stactrace will be attached here. Much more files can be found on the

Unfortunally I am by myself not able to hit the crash on any version, so a

Also no one of the affected people is able to give a valid reproducing
