[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1160294] Re: [snb] stale TLB entries - hang with random IPEHR
Thanks guys! How can I find out when this will be backported to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 185600] Re: [Upstream] LibreOffice repeatedly freezes after resuming laptop from sleep
I think I might have made a mistake and attributed an improvement in the situation to LO instead of to a faster computer. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1160903] [NEW] Please re-patch 215_glx_drawable_refcounting.diff for precise (12.04)
Public bug reported: Hello, This bug affects oneiric and precise. Previous versions of Ubuntu used to carry a patch 215_glx_drawable_refcounting.diff . This came about because of this upstream bug report https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28181 . The patch was removed in oneiric (xorg-server-1.10.2-1ubuntu1 to be accurate), presumably because of the upstream inclusion of commit b5093063b5d76ff31519a2daf85ea32808f1afe6 . However, as noted in the original bug report, that commit doesn't fix the problem when using radeon UMS. You need to add the patch in comment 40 of that bug report, or alternatively, remove the upstream commit and re-apply the 215 patch. Without the patch(s) I get very frequent crashes of the Xorg server when using an OpenGL window manager. Just un-minimising a window in kwin will usually cause a crash. I'll include an Xorg log of a crash for you. It is basically unusable and I have to revert to non-opengl. Radeon UMS was removed in quantal so I can't test any newer versions of the package. KMS doesn't have this particular problem, but has its own problems and UMS is still the best option in 12.04 for radeon PowerPC. I probably should add that to get UMS open-gl in precise I have to install an older 7.11 version of libgl1-mesa-dri. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1160926] [NEW] False GPU lockup
Public bug reported: I am getting the bug of repeated warning messages about a GPU lockup that did not in fact occur. This was reported in Bug #s 983640 and 975624. This problem was supposed to have been fixed in Ubuntu 12.10 (quantal). However, I am running quantal, with the latest updates, and I have started receiving this bug recently (I think that it started after the latest kernel upgrade, though I am not entirely sure). Can you run 'apport-collect 1160790' after a suspend and the system runs slow? There are a couple of other tests that I'd like to perform after checking those logs for an obvious cause, but first lets have a look to see if anything is logged. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 568492] Re: Fonts corrupted on LibreOffice menus with nvidia, compiz, twinview and subpixel smoothing.
I'm glad to say I found a workaround to this issue. Not a fix, just a workaround, but after several tests, the corruption stopped happening. The issue is clearly related to available resources, because it happens when there are many applications or documents open. So, I experimented change computer setup configuration, increasing video memory. In my case, there is an option in Bios setup Dedicated video memory up to, that was set to 64 Mb. The other options are 32 Mb and 128 Mb. I just changed it to 128 Mb and saved. Good luck!! But, after all, I'm very very disappointed with NVidia. They don't support linux users and release drivers completely buggy and with poor performance. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/568492 Title: Fonts corrupted on LibreOffice menus with nvidia, compiz, twinview and subpixel smoothing. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1161088] [NEW] Computer freezes shortly (GUI) and sometimes freezes completely
Public bug reported: I am using Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64 on a Dell Latitude E6520 with Intel Sandy Bridge CPU/GPU (no additional GPU). The issue was not present on 11.10 and it started appearing only a few days ago on 12.04. So, until a few days ago, Ubuntu 12.04 was fine as well. The computer freezes (Unity GUI) for a few seconds, no reaction to any keyboard input, the cursor still moves, but no reaction on any mouse buttons. Most of the time, the system recovers and continues to work as before, sometimes it did freeze completely and required a hard reboot (power off and on again). If the system recovers, the following dmesg entries can be observed: [..] [ 4351.356564] [drm:i915_hangcheck_hung] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... GPU hung [ 4351.356573] [drm] capturing error event; look for more information in /debug/dri/0/i915_error_state [ 4351.365648] [drm] Enabling RC6 states: RC6 on, RC6p off, RC6pp off [ 4357.514587] [drm:i915_hangcheck_hung] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... GPU hung [ 4673.674289] [drm] Enabling RC6 states: RC6 on, RC6p off, RC6pp off [..] Also, in case the system recovers, apport (GUI) pops up multiple times, but never opens a browser window to actually file the bug. Using apport- cli did work. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1161112] [NEW] Raring regression: SNA fails completely; UXA causes random hangs
Public bug reported: The following occurred after I updated from Quantal to Raring. I have an i5 2500K Sandy Bridge. When I remove /etc/X11/xorg.conf and login to lightdm, SNA is used, but this causes my second monitor to go out of sync, and my first monitor stops updating (though the mouse cursor works). I am forced to do Ctrl+Alt+F1 to reboot. When I create the following xorg.conf: Section Device Identifier intel Driver intel Option AccelMethod uxa EndSection Everything works, but sometimes, Xorg locks up for a few seconds. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1160521] Re: Selected 1600x900 gets 900x1600 rotated 90 degrees
