[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 988290] Re: Resolution change with KVM switch on Precise

2013-05-02 Thread Glyn M Burton
I don't wish to sound like a 'me too' but here I am on this latest (at
time of writing) 13.04 of Ubuntu and it still occurs.

I have a VGA and PS2 KVM, 4x port by StarTech. Switching back from my
work Windows desktop to Ubuntu after the screen blanker / password lock
has kicked in produces a lower resolution; even if I switch the KVM wait
for the monitor to state 'no signal' to possibly allow DDC to invoke
prior to moving the mouse and waking the system.

The monitor is detected as Hewlett Packard 19 (HP Compaq LA1951g) and
the graphics chip detected as Intel Ivybridge.

Opening up System Settings, clicking on DIsplays automatically adjusts
the screen. No need to Apply, just closing retains the right
resolution.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1167620] Re: usr/share/apport/apport-gpu-error-intel.py keeps recommending a report, but cannot execute as this gives another error message

2013-05-02 Thread bugbot
We're closing this bug since there has not been a response from the original
reporter. However, the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the
requested information. If you're not the original reporter, we'd prefer you
file a new bug report.

Some tips:

  * Report X.org bugs via the command:  `ubuntu-bug xorg`

  * Test against the latest development Ubuntu.
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/
Bugs marked as affecting the development version tend to get priority
attention.

  * The `xdiagnose` utility has functionality for enabling debugging and
analyzing a few common X problems.

  * Tag your bugs with the Ubuntu versions you have reproduced the issue
in.

  * See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Reporting for tips on writing good bug
reports.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1174042] Re: System crashes with open-source radeon driver

2013-05-02 Thread Lars Kumbier
The workaround with the fglrx-legacy repository does work for me, thanks
again for the tip.

Could you add some more info on your system (see previous post) and also
report on the upstream bugtrack
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64072, so that there's a
bit more pressure on the development team of the open source radeon
driver? Thanks!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1175533] Re: [HSW] intel VGA driver i915 doesn't support new haswell graphics [8086:0a2e]

2013-05-02 Thread Robert Hooker
So to fix this, we're looking at a huge amount of packages

1) xserver-xorg-video-intel (fixed by
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-intel/commit/?id=ab576a42650d8a743dd91108f774c220d866de95
 )
saucy
raring
quantal

2) xserver-xorg-lts-quantal
precise

3) libdrm (no patch exists yet upstream)
saucy
raring
quantal (not important since libdrm is updated in precise directly)
precise

4) linux (no patch exists yet upstream)
saucy
raring
quantal

5) linux-lts-quantal
precise

6) mesa (no patch exists yet upstream)
saucy
raring
quantal

7) mesa-lts-quantal
precise

I'll start preparing patches.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1175676] [NEW] Low Graphics Resolution since kernel update with Intel 82G33/G31 vga and CRT monitor

2013-05-02 Thread Mar It
Public bug reported:

When I was still using Ubuntu 12.10
the last kernel update droped down my video resolution to 1024x768.
When on the boot, I choosed an older kernel, video worked, but with the latest
kernel, didn't work.

And when I gone to Ubuntu 13.04 , it got the same low resolution, even
on live dvd.

Ubuntu says I use a vga intel 82g33/31
and it is pluged to an old CRT monitor.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1168188] Re: black screen on lenovo g580 and ubuntu 13.04

2013-05-02 Thread Max (OpenERP)
I am also getting this. I upgraded from Ubuntu 12.10 64bit to 13.4.
System asks me for my password at boot ( it normal), then when I log in
it goes to a black screen with a flashing white underscore. I can type
here but no commands are executed (from what I can tell...). If I press
alt and f2 I get a prompt that I can log into and execute commands.
After the upgrade everything worked fine for probably about 5 restarts.

I dit use the recovery boot options, reinstalled ati en radeon and it
worked again. On the next reboot again a black sreen.

Installed a vesa driver in xorg.conf

2013-05-02 Thread Cecil Pierce
Hmm... I just checked my kernel version, I am running 3.2.0-38-Generic
(from package linux-image-3.2.0-38-generic_3.2.0-38.61_amd64.deb).

Dave, what was the last kernel you used where it worked properly?

Also, your behaviour is slightly different from mine, your screen is
top-left, but mine is centered both left-right and up-down.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1173492] Re: XRandR cannot set scaling mode

2013-05-02 Thread Cecil Pierce
Oops, sorry I missed that you have it working correctly with 3.5.0-26.
But that is still newer than my running kernel...

Will install 3.5.0-26 and see if that helps...

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 568492] Re: Fonts corrupted on LibreOffice menus with nvidia, compiz, twinview and subpixel smoothing.

2013-05-02 Thread Matthias Boots
Thanks Walter, your workaround did it for me. In my case the Bios setup option
was Framebuffer size. My configuration: Ubuntu 12.04 Precise, NVidia onboard
graphics, Driver 304.88, Desktop is Gnome Shell and/or Cinnamon.
Have fun!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1173492] Re: XRandR cannot set scaling mode

2013-05-02 Thread Dave Long
I'm using Intel integrated graphics instead of ATI/AMD, and I'm also on
a 32-bit kernel instead of AMD64. I'm not sure if this points to
separate driver issues, or an issue with X. I've also noticed that the
issue seems to affect only the Thinkpad LCD (LVDS1), a monitor connected
to VGA1 scales properly.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1175728] [NEW] clickpad right/middle click and AreaBottomEdge

2013-05-02 Thread Simon Bugs
Public bug reported:

When specifying an AreaBottomEdige (dead area), right and middle click
buttons do not work. This has been fixed already in the 1.6.3 release (
see http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-input-
synaptics/commit/?id=a5ac54f60af96b9b862425ccd8b6c7afaa4937e4 for the
commit for this change). This will make clickpads way more workable for
many people.

Please consider this upstream patch or update the driver to 1.6.3
please.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1173217] Re: Screen edges are in the middle of the screen! AMD Radeon HD7570M

2013-05-02 Thread RussianNeuroMancer
Looks like you have proprietary driver installed. Did you tried to uninstall it
and use FOSS driver instead? (Uninstall fglrx package, remove
/etc/X11/xorg.conf and reboot.)
You also may try to update fglrx driver
http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Raring_Installation_Guide and if this
doesn't help contact with AMD technical support:

I have not had any issues on 12.04.2 LTS Precise with Quantal kernel and
Xserver. I don't think this is the best solution. However the bug
report was telling me that the file was from xserver-xorg-video-intel
which was removed when I installed xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts-quantal
as part of xserver-xorg-lts-quantal
