[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1183679] [NEW] Flickers most the time, even in BIOS
Public bug reported: This is very weird. My screen flickers most of the time. I'm using NVIDIA's latest 313-updates drivers on Ubuntu 13. Even when I go into BIOS, it flickers there. So this means the graphic card must have buggy drivers that were installed by this NVIDIA's package. For even weirder reasons I cannot explain, the screen didn't flicker yesterday evening. But is back flickering today all day until recently, it stopped flickering again. It stopped flickering while I was upgrading the linux kernel from 3.8.0.20 to 3.8.0.21 but I am not sure if this really was the reason. My graphic card is a GF116 [GeForce GTS Rev. 2] I bet it will flicker again soon. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: flicker nvidia -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1183679 Title: Flickers most the time, even in BIOS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/1183679/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1181355] Re: R300 (RS480): Intermittent flickering corruption top half of display (VGA, 1080p)
Workaround seems reproducible after a reboot, although switch to 1280x720 actually produced a working mode this time. (Rebooted to install updates available as of about 0400 UTC 2013-05-24 which contained some things tangentially related to udev, nothing that seemed likely to have graphics impact?) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1181355 Title: R300 (RS480): Intermittent flickering corruption top half of display (VGA, 1080p) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1181355/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1181355] Re: R300 (RS480): Intermittent flickering corruption top half of display (VGA, 1080p)
It appears I was confused and most recent testing _did_ happen in the same session post-reboot, see timestamps in log snippet below; The bug recurs after the display goes to DPMS standby/sleep. It also appears the display corruption on switching modes occurs after the display has its first (or multiple) chances to sleep as I hit it now flipping to 1280x720 the second time in the session - no more clear 1280x720, again a wait for a garbled screen to revert. While Xorg log shows the machine rereading DDC/EDID data when things are woken out of DPMS (and the seizure-inducing flicker recommences), xrandr shows _no_ difference in modelines before/after... not really a surprise but was worth confirming. [I should probably be hunting this bug upstream where it's probably already fixed; maybe another night.] [ 718.155] (II) RADEON(0): Allocate new frame buffer 1280x720 stride 1280 [ 718.155] (II) RADEON(0): VRAM usage limit set to 48193K [ 748.647] (II) RADEON(0): Allocate new frame buffer 1920x1088 stride 1920 [ 748.692] (II) RADEON(0): VRAM usage limit set to 44089K [ 1528.849] (II) RADEON(0): EDID vendor HWP, prod id 12294 [ 1528.849] (II) RADEON(0): Using hsync ranges from config file [ 1528.849] (II) RADEON(0): Using vrefresh ranges from config file [ 1528.849] (II) RADEON(0): Printing DDC gathered Modelines: ... [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1183089] Re: xorg freezes on macbook air unplugging thunderbolt display
Yes, inadequate shielding of the IO lines can cause spurious interrupts, and has certainly been in the past the main cause of hotplug storms. In this case, I suspect it is the firmware / firmware driver that is broken and causing the interrupt storm. Short of physically inspecting the signal lines, I'm not sure if you will get a definitive answer. There is no mechanism to manually disable the hotplug interrupts without recompiling the code. There is magic in v3.10 that is meant to autodetect this, but it did not actually leave any telltale in your log... So I am beginning to suspect that it is not just a lot of hotplug events, but also the processing of each one that is slow. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1183089 Title: xorg freezes on macbook air unplugging thunderbolt display To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1183089/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1183882] [NEW] Resolution changes automatically when switching TV from computer to other channels
Public bug reported: My HTPC is hooked up to a Toshiba 37C3000P. Ubuntu starts up in the correct resolution - 1280x720, which fills the screen. When I turn the TV off and then back on and when I change to another channel and then go back, the resolution changes to 1920x1080, which is higher than the TV's natural resolution and also doesn't fill the screen. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1121579] Re: Xorg freeze
There's not much description in the bug report but I have marked it as affects me because I am suffering from Xorg freezes since updating to Raring. I'm using Kubuntu and nvidia-313-updates (313.30-0ubuntu1). I have tried nvidia-304-updates and nvidia-310-updates but they both suffer from this problem. Prior to the update I never saw a freeze on this PC. When the freeze happens the cursor stops moving and no keys work, however I am still able to power down the PC by pressing the power button. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-310 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1121579 Title: Xorg freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-310/+bug/1121579/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184063] [NEW] With nonrectangular multi-monitor arrangements, display region is wrong
Public bug reported: In Lubuntu 13.04, I have an unusual display configuration: three monitors arranged horizontally and a fourth centred above them. This worked fine in 12.04; after upgrading, the middle display is not working correctly. xrandr --output DVI-1 --mode 1920x1080 --rate 60 \ --output HDMI-0--mode 1680x1050 --rate 60 --right-of DVI-1 \ --output DVI-0 --mode 1280x1024 --rate 60 --left-of DVI-1 \ --output DisplayPort-0 --mode 1280x1024 --rate 60 --above DVI-1 Despite what xrandr claims, and no matter what I tell it, the middle display (DVI-1) remains at 1280x1024 and displays windows from the region 1280x1024+0+0, i.e. the region above the leftmost display (DVI-0) that shouldn't be displayed. Windows in the region 1920x1080+1280+1024, i.e. the region DVI-1 actually occupies, are not shown anywhere. The other screens display correctly. (This can only be seen by dragging a window partway off of the topmost or leftmost screen into this region, since the mouse does move correctly and won't enter this region.) Additionally, if xrandr is used to turn DVI-1 off, it will not be able to turn it back on again. Like the region issue, it will claim the display is on when it is not. Additionally, the mouse cursor appears about twice as large as normal. It does, however, move across the screens correctly. Related: http://askubuntu.com/questions/299744/lubuntu-13-04-cannot-set- display-resolution-windows-invisible-huge-mouse-curso All of these things were working correctly on the same machine in 12.04. I hadn't tried 12.10. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1184063 Title: With nonrectangular multi-monitor arrangements, display region is wrong To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1184063/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
