[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184451] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites
I may be having this same problem but currently unsure as it seems to be tied to Skype use for me, although this might just be a coincidence - my computer is rarely heavily loaded. It was the fact that the other terminals still work that's made me this this is the same issue that I'm having. * GUI becomes non-responsive (no hovering changes, clicking, scrolling etc). * Video freezes (in Skype) * Sound and microphone continues to work normally (in Skype) * Mouse still moves (clicks don't work) * Keyboard doesn't work, except to switch terminals * Text terminals appear to work normally * Computer doesn't appear to be busy after the freeze (I didn't check CPU, but terminal is responsive and there's no disk thrashing) * Restarting lightdm has worked once, but display didn't wake-up after its next sleep - direct power-off required. * Reboot required to get PC working normally again. * Ubuntu 13.04 64-bit (3.8.0-23-generic) Does this stack up with the other experiences? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1184451 Title: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1184451/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 41301] Re: Mouse clicks stop working sporadically
Hi All, This bug has just started to affect me i have some details that might help diagnose this though i am surprised that a bug like this has been open since 2006? Right my hardware spec has been the same for some time and i never received this bug. I have recently due to motherboard failure upgraded the hardware without reinstalling 13.04 and this bug has appeared. Symptoms mouse click stops working though some areas of the screen are still accessible like the side bar. Max min and exit buttons do not work. interaction in the screen is flaky. Hardware (Changed) as follows : 1x Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 Motherboard (I suspect the problem exists here. Note i had to enable IOMMU to get USB2 sockets to work at all) 1x AMD FX-8350 4GHz 1x Corsair Vengeance 8GB Hardware (Not Changed) : 1x Patriot GTX 650 TI Boost 1x Agility 240Gb SSD 2x Western Digital 320Gb LVM Mirrored Logitec Desktop Combi mouse and Keyboard. Interesting after fact: I though that the issue might be to do with some corruption in the install so i inserted a 13.04 install disk. And the issue is present in this too. Will see if i can record the screen and tag it to this bug. However i fear that this bug is being pushed aside. Can i ask all those who have the issue to post their hardware details particularly Motherboard/CPU/GPU. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/41301 Title: Mouse clicks stop working sporadically To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/41301/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1199409] [NEW] Xrandr twitches when using DVI-VGA adapter
Public bug reported: Hello all, What I expected to happen: I expected a normal picture on all of my monitors. What happened instead: I have a problem with xrandr, or at least with my video cards, now I'm using the ubuntu 13.04 live DVD, but if I use an up-to-date ubuntu server 13.10 installation with x.org installed, the same problem occurs. I have three video cards, one IGP, one PCI-e and one PCI, in that order: [CODE] root@ubuntu:~# lspci | grep VGA 01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RS880 [Radeon HD 4250] 02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV610 [Radeon HD 2400 PRO] 06:06.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV250/M9 GL [Mobility FireGL 9000/Radeon 9000] (rev 02) [/CODE] The IGP is connected via DVI to a 24 monitor and via VGA to a 17 monitor, all good so far. Then I have three monitors left, two 15 VGA and one 17 vga, so to use all monitors, I have to use one DVI-VGA adapter. No matter in what order/combination I connect the monitors to the video cards, the monitor that is connected via the adapter always flickers along with the other monitor on that same card (does not matter which card). It seems like the two monitors have two sperate framebuffers, but by default they both show the framebuffer for the monitor with adapter, but when I move the mouse they switch rapidly from that framebuffer to the other and back. It's hard to explain, but here are three video's showing the problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQiJADHGuZg (Top-Right monitor connected via adapter, in the same card as Bottom-Right) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lk9muK8f06c (Top-Left monitor connected via adapter, in the same card as Bottom-Right) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ses1jUcu2k (Top-Left monitor connected via adapter, in the same card as Top-Right) They're recorded with my phone, so I hope they're clear enough to see the problem. Now I hear you ask, why do I think it's a xrandr problem, well I have the exact same setup used with zaphodhead mode and xinerama, it works but its EXTREMELY slow. I have already tried another DVI-VGA adapter, but with the same results. Another strange thing is that xrandr seems to think that two monitors are clones (one of which not connected): [CODE] ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ xrandr --verbose Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 6528 x 1295, maximum 8192 x 8192 VGA-0 connected 1280x1024+0+56 (0x50) normal (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 340mm x 270mm Identifier: 0xab Timestamp: 326178 Subpixel: no subpixels Gamma: 1.0:1.0:1.0 Brightness: 1.0 Clones: CRTC: 0 CRTCs: 0 1 Transform: 1.00 0.00 0.00 0.00 1.00 0.00 0.00 0.00 1.00 filter: EDID: 000022f05c2601010101 1e0f010368221b8cee5e50a6544c9926 145054adef8081800101010101010101 010101010101302a009851002a403070 1300540e111e00fd00324c1e 530e000a20202020202000fc0048 50204c313730360a2020202000ff 00434e43353330315957590a2020008c load detection: 1 (0x0001)range: (0,1) 1280x1024 (0x50) 108.0MHz +HSync +VSync *current +preferred h: width 1280 start 1328 end 1440 total 1688 skew0 clock 64.0KHz v: height 1024 start 1025 end 1028 total 1066 clock 60.0Hz /snip HDMI-0 connected 1920x1080+1280+0 (0xaf) normal (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 521mm x 293mm Identifier: 0xac Timestamp: 326178 Subpixel: horizontal rgb Gamma: 1.0:1.0:1.0 Brightness: 1.0 Clones: CRTC: 1 CRTCs: 0 1 Transform: 1.00 0.00 0.00 0.00 1.00 0.00 0.00 0.00 1.00 filter: EDID: 000026cd0d5601010101 2b14010381341e782aeed5a555489b26 125054bfef80b300a9409500818f8180 950f714f81c0023a801871382d40582c 45000925211e00ff00313130 3031303433303039383400fd0037 4c1d5111000a20202020202000fc 00504c45323430374844530a20200019 underscan vborder: 0 (0x)range: (0,128) underscan hborder: 0 (0x)range: (0,128) underscan:off supported: off on auto coherent: 1 (0x0001)range: (0,1) 1920x1080 (0xaf) 148.5MHz +HSync +VSync *current +preferred h: width 1920 start 2008 end 2052 total 2200 skew0 clock 67.5KHz v: height 1080 start 1084 end 1089 total 1125 clock 60.0Hz /snip VGA-2 connected 1024x768+3200+312 (0x45) normal (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 300mm x 230mm Identifier: 0x74 Timestamp: 326178 Subpixel: no subpixels Gamma: 1.0:1.0:1.0 Brightness: 1.0 Clones: DVI-1 CRTC: 2 CRTCs:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1187427] Re: Mouse cursor invisible
Patrick, your are right, it is very strange. I updated my system to saucy but the problem remains. I tried as suggested by you the modesetting driver without success. First I had to remove psb_gfx and gma500_gfx from /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf where I added it at 12.04 times to avoid the flickering of the display. Now I can load modesetting but it flickers again (it's a LCD but behaves like a cathode ray tube with around 50Hz!!!?). Do I need to provide some options? I tried again Option HWCursor on but this is not supported by the driver. I didn't found other useful options in the manpage of modesettings. So no success for now. Will try mir (http://www.olli-ries.com/running- mir/) soon (that's why I upgraded). Other ideas?
