[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1211660] [NEW] Xorg freeze

2013-08-13 Thread douham
Public bug reported:

When using firefox, I can experience a complete lockup where I can't use
kb or mouse at all. Ten minutes ago I experienced a freeze where mouse
and kb appeared frozen but I was able to bring the machine down with
alt-syseq reisub. Most times reset button is needed. I have resorted to
run firefox with all-addons disabled for stability. Flash seems to play
a part.

only now doing my bit to solve this problem and help the community; and

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1209397] Re: [radeonsi] radeonhd southern islands 3d hardware acceleration

2013-08-13 Thread Duncan Rumbold
I have a Radeon HD 7750 and am also 'stuck' on Gallium 0.4 on
llvmpipe. I figured this would be the case until Mesa 9.2 is released
because it looks like that's where all the exciting radeonsi development
is happening. The recently released Fedora 19 has an early build of Mesa
9.2 and glxinfo on there gives me Gallium 0.4 on AMD CAPE VERDE and a
noticeably smoother experience. Would the kernel version make any
difference as well? (There seems to be a lot work gone on for Radeon SI
owners in 3.10 and soon-to-be 3.11).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 970795] Re: [MSI 785GM-E51 (MS-7596), ATI R6xx HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all

2013-08-13 Thread madbiologist
On Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal and later you will no longer be able
to use the proprietary fglrx driver on your Radeon HD 4850/4870 as AMD
have dropped support for this card in their drivers around the same time
that they added support to their drivers for the newer kernel and
xserver used in Quantal.

You will be able to use the open-source radeon driver, but note that
HDMI audio on AMD/ATI GPUs has been disabled by the upstream kernel
developers as it causes blank screens on a lot of systems.

You can re-enable HDMI audio by adding radeon.audio=1 to your GRUB
kernel boot options as described at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2/Troubleshooting#Editing_the_GRUB_2_Menu_During_Boot

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 221147] Re: Control characters and caps lock and other control characters don't work in X in Hardy Development

2013-08-13 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Matthew Franz, could you please confirm this issue exists with the
latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains,
could you please run the following command in the development release
from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will
automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this
report:

apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily folder,
but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel,
please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is
fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11-rc5

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, please comment as to why
specifically you were unable to test it and add the following tags:
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 454496] Re: Touchpad not recognized

2013-08-13 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Earl Malmrose, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily folder,
but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel,
please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is
fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11-rc5

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, please comment as to why
specifically you were unable to test it and add the following tags:
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1197363] Re: new upstream release 9.1.4

2013-08-13 Thread Maarten Lankhorst
Nouveau has some regressions since the last run a few months ago, but
the failing tests all have in common that they have a M2MF copy error.
Because nouveau has been completely untouched after 9.1.3 after
restesting I couldn't get 9.1.3 to pass it looks like the tests didn't
regress, and I have a kernel bug to track down. :P I'll retest ati
shortly.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1209397] Re: [radeonsi] radeonhd southern islands 3d hardware acceleration

2013-08-13 Thread Cybjit
@djrumbold, the issue is not too old kernel/mesa/llvm, those are new enough
since raring. What is missing is packaging and enablement of glamor
(http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/Glamor/), since radeonsi does not
support EXA.
(Of course newer kernel/mesa/llvm would certainly be good, for example s3tc
will be supported)

I have had a ppa for glamor going for a few months, and have used radeonsi 3D
acceleration in raring/saucy.
Glamor however seems a bit immature: occasional xorg crashes, occasional glyph
corruption in firefox, flash content bleeding over other elements. And the 2D
performance is not particularly good either. This is not something unique for
glamor/radeonsi, I have seen the same result with glamor/intel.

Hello Alberto, or anyone else affected,

Accepted fglrx-installer-experimental-13 into precise-proposed. The
package will build now and be available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer-
experimental-13/2:13.101-0ubuntu0.0.2 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance!

Yes, mesa is up to 9.2 (and radeonsi module is enabled) and the ddx
driver is now 7.2.0, so glamor is what's missing. You can try it in PPA
form: https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/graphics-drivers

As this bug has been there for a long time without activity and for some
reason it doesn't show the auto countdown to invalidation after 60 days
of beig in Incomplete status, I'm manually setting it to invalid.
Please feel free to re-open it once the bug found in a currently
supported release of Ubuntu or the upstream pkg.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1186800] Re: [830 v3.7 regression] Video goes blank and system hangs (using an old kernel fix it)

2013-08-13 Thread Federico Leoni
Chris,
I don't want to bother you but I have to insist: with the UXA accelmethod the
problem does not occurs.
I created the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf instead of using the old
xorg.conf and my notebook now works fine on both 13.04 (kernel 3.8.x) and 13.10
(3.10.x).

Don't you think it is appropriate to consider this solution as a clue to
this issue?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1212014] [NEW] Sync x11-apps 7.7+1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2013-08-13 Thread Robert Hooker
Public bug reported:

Please sync x11-apps 7.7+1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * Sync from unreleased debian git. (LP: 1078401)
  * Add transset to conflicts/replaces to fix upgrades.
  * Add rendercheck to x11-apps.
  * Merge new release from debian unstable.
  * Dropped 100-fix-linking-with-no-add-needed.patch, upstream.
  * Fix recommends. Previously it was recommending xbitmap which didn't
exist, the package is xbitmaps. (LP: #930176)

All of these changes are in debian now and included in this release.

Changelog entries since current saucy version 7.7~3ubuntu1:

x11-apps (7.7+1) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Robert Hooker ]
  * Add transset to conflicts/replaces to fix upgrades.
  * Add rendercheck to x11-apps.
  * ico 1.0.4
  * xcalc 1.0.5
  * xconsole 1.0.5
  * xditview 1.0.3
  * xedit 1.2.1
  * xgc 1.0.4
  * xmag 1.0.5
  * bitmap 1.0.7
  * transset 1.0.1
  * Add an update-copyright target to refresh debian/copyright using
upstream's COPYING files, thanks to Julien Cristau.
  * Refresh copyright.

  [ Julien Cristau ]
  * xconsole 1.0.6.
  * xload 1.1.2.
  * xwd 1.0.6
  * Add build-dep on bison to make xgc's configure happy.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1186800] Re: [830 v3.7 regression] Video goes blank and system hangs (using an old kernel fix it)

2013-08-13 Thread Chris Wilson
I've told you exactly what the issue is:

No, that is a bug in adobe's software renderer not being able to handle
any none 24-depth framebuffers. It equally affects you if have a 30- or
36-bpp monitor. The correct workaround here is specifying DefaultDepth
24 or just complaining to adobe.

The active ingredient of your workaround is changing the framebuffer
depth.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1211982] [NEW] Memory leaks in libEGL while running mir

2013-08-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Here are 2 bugs that picked up in valgrind while running egl examples,
which I've made sure under 1 examples that eglDestorySurface is being
called on the same pointer that was created:

More debugging symbols, but can't figure out the last 3 '???'

For mir_demo_client_eglplasma:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/5983066/

For an SDL2.0 app:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/5983070/

They seem like memory leaks in libEGL but it is running things in mir...

To reproduce:
valgrind --tool=memcheck --num-callers=50 --leak-check=full --track-origins=yes
mir_demo_client_eglplasma 21 | tee mir-val.log

There appears to be 2 different leaks, but they are consistent. Even
when things are cleaned up through eglTerminate and eglDestorySurface.

Confirmed on an Nvidia GeForce 210. Mir clients are not throttled to
vsync. This is most obvious in the simple mir_demo_client_egltriangle:

formats

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1212065] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in VidModeSetViewPort()

2013-08-13 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Moving back to xorg-server, tagging with xmir. It's a crash in the
archive, and I'm not sure if the apport retracer will retrace bugs
targeted at the XMir pseudo-project.

** Project changed: xmir = xorg-server (Ubuntu)
