[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1229662] [NEW] [AMD Radeon HD 6450][1002:6779] No DisplayPort audio output with radeon driver

2013-09-24 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Public bug reported:

CID: 201201-10383 Dell Optiplex 7010 DT

No DisplayPort audio output with the open source radeon driver.
The output source does not appear in the Sound settings when the DisplayPort
was connected.

This problem could be solved by installing the AMD proprietary driver.

And according to comment #5 in bug 1186879,
it seems that this audio feature was disabled intentionally.

Add radeon.audio=1 to GRUB kernel boot options could make DP audio work.

I've also verified with the latest mainline kernel (3.12rc2), this
problem still exist.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1229734] [NEW] libgl1-mesa-glx conflicts with nvidia-current (nvidia-304)

2013-09-24 Thread Brenton Fletcher
Public bug reported:

NOTES:
I am NOT using the xorg-edgers PPA.
I am NOT using the non-package binary driver from nvidia.com
I am NOT using nouveau.

When the libgl1-mesa-glx package is installed and the nvidia-current
(i.e. nvidia-304) package is also installed, something is running

update-alternatives --set x86_64-linux-gnu_gl_conf /usr/lib/x86_64
-linux-gnu/mesa/ld.so.conf

on what seems to be every boot. This is problematic, because in fact the
alternative should be set like:

update-alternatives --set x86_64-linux-gnu_gl_conf
/usr/lib/nvidia-304/ld.so.conf

Having the alternative set to mesa prevents the nvidia kernel and xorg
modules from being loaded, which causes X to fall back to the built-in
intel GPU and driver, which doesn't work.

The result on boot is either:

1. A black screen with a couple of notices e.g.:

[ 14.475147] i915 :00:02.0: Invalid ROM contents

2. A purple screen with no other content, but the lightdm has started
the greeter and is waiting for your password noise is heard.

Neither of these is a good result; in case 1 I can switch to different
VT but I do not get a login prompt on any of them, and in case 2 I
_cannot switch VT_.

If the alternative is set to the nvidia conf and then the gui is
started, for example by:

1. boot
2. enter recovery mode
3. fsck
4. drop to root prompt
5. update-alternatives --set x86_64-linux-gnu_gl_conf
/usr/lib/nvidia-304/ld.so.conf
6. exit
7. resume normal boot.

Everything works perfectly. AFAICT this is _NOT_ a bug in the NVidia
binary driver, the wrong alternative is simply being used.

I am reporting this issue against the libgl1-mesa-glx package, as that
package provides the mesa ld.so.conf file in question.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1219908] Re: [needs-packaging] All nvidia-current and nvidia-updates need repackaging to mirror official Nvidia releases...

2013-09-24 Thread Alberto Milone
SRU request:

Please accept the following packages into precise-proposed:

nvidia-graphics-drivers-304-updates (304.108-0ubuntu0.0.1)

nvidia-graphics-drivers-319-updates (319.49-0ubuntu0.0.1)

nvidia-settings-319-updates (319.49-0ubuntu0.0.1)

Note: only the -updates flavours of the drivers are affected.

Also, apparently the packages ended up in NEW, probably because of the
lack of proper overrides in the archive.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1215449] Re: triple monitor support not working on HD 4600

2013-09-24 Thread RichardNeill
Just for anyone who finds this ... it can be made to work, in the
following configuration:

Monitor #1
HDMI output - adapter - DVI input(1600x1200)

Monitor #2
HDMI output - adapter - DVI input(1600x1200)

Monitor #3
DVI output - adapter - VGA input(1600x1200)

The 3rd one has to be VGA, or it won't work. Also, the VGA port isn't
autidetected as 1600x1200 capable, but this can be fixed with:
xrandr --addmode VGA1 1600x1200
xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1600x1200

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1028617] Re: Cursor shakes violently when connected to power source - makes touchpad cursor unusable

2013-09-24 Thread Karel
This bug also affects me on Linux Mint 15 Olivia running MATE 1.6.0 as
well as previous Mint versions.

I just tried blegat suggestion at #11 quoting Hutterer, and set y-axis
noise cancellation to 32 (my pointer shakes uncontrollably in the
vertical axis only). So I executed

xinput set-prop SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad Synaptics Noise
Cancellation 8 32

and the issue virtually disappeared, making my touchpad usable for the
first time. I will reboot the system, test it for some time, and if find
anything relevant will post back.

2013-09-24 Thread Søren Holm
It works now on my local saucy install - but the daily-build still fails
the same way. Maybe the daily build is not updated yet. I will return
again with more information when the daily build has been updated.
