[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 585765] Re: [HP ProBook 6440b] Ubuntu 10.04 random freezes
I am currently running 13.04 and the same problem is still present. It's been with me since 12.04 But now I have discovered a pattern to these freezes: My power cord is always unplugged when Ubuntu freezes. I have a usage pattern that might have an impact: Whenever the screen saver is starting (the desktop is fading out), I push shift or move my mouse to avoid having to write the password. I know, it's odd behavior since I could just prolong the timeout. Clearly this has to do with power management, anyway. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/585765 Title: [HP ProBook 6440b] Ubuntu 10.04 random freezes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/585765/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 400875] Re: 9.04 PPC: fbdev wrongly configured in X
By the way, my xorg.conf file was a custom multi-head configuration that I had been building over the years. Right now, I am not using multi-head. So, a default configuration makes more sense. The biggest conflict seems to be from trying to use a Matrox G450 (or G550 - whatever it is), which was built for 4:3 ratio with a 16:9 display. The display resolutions are highly limited. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 400875] Re: 9.04 PPC: fbdev wrongly configured in X
This happened to me also in Precise Penguin. I've moved the xorg.conf file out of the way, and it is now using the xorg.conf.failsafe. Works better for my current configuration. It resolves the message. It allows me to make configuration changes via the System Settings utility. That is all that I need right now. I expect to copy xorg.conf.failsafe to xorg.conf in the near future, so that I can customize it as desired. And, so that the failsafe file doesn't get bungled by any apps that might modify it in the absence of xorg.conf. The machine has an MGA driver, but I don't have the patience to get that driver working on the machine, considering that I expect that I may "decommission" the machine as soon as I can get all of the files off of it. Then again, I may upgrade the machine after all of the files are moved off of the machine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-fbdev in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/400875 Title: 9.04 PPC: fbdev wrongly configured in X To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-fbdev/+bug/400875/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1247832] [NEW] Lightdm often fails to show greeter (mouse cursor briefly visibly) ubuntu 13.10
Public bug reported: On boot (or lightdm restart) often I don't get to see the greeter. Only after running 'sudo restart lightdm' a couple of time do I get to actually make it work.
