[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 585765] Re: [HP ProBook 6440b] Ubuntu 10.04 random freezes

2013-11-04 Thread Runar Ingebrigtsen
I am currently running 13.04 and the same problem is still present. It's
been with me since 12.04

But now I have discovered a pattern to these freezes: My power cord is
always unplugged when Ubuntu freezes.

I have a usage pattern that might have an impact: Whenever the screen
saver is starting (the desktop is fading out), I push shift or move my
mouse to avoid having to write the password. I know, it's odd behavior
since I could just prolong the timeout.

Clearly this has to do with power management, anyway.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1202524] Re: [lts] Switch VGA mode will become black screen

2013-11-04 Thread Yang Bai
Tried to install ubuntu 12.10 on that machine but failed. The kernel in
the installation iso is 3.5.0-17, there is no i915-hsw module.

So I tried to do a fresh installation of 12.04.2. The xorg stack is lts-
quantal. Without 2:2.20.9-0ubuntu2.3~precise1 in precise-proposed, this
issue can be reproduced. After installing this package, this issue is
fixed.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184451] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites

2013-11-04 Thread James
It happened to me as well. I semi-maximize a LibreOffice program to the
left or right (holding the title bar to the left or right), then I
maximize the window holding the title bar towards the top of the screen.
The animation of fullscreen comes up, but the system freezes. The mouse
works, but no clicks do. Also, the cursor stays with the "hand grabbing"
icon.

This happened on a recently installed Ubuntu 13.10.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1247913] Re: fglrx (not installed): fglrx kernel module failed to build

2013-11-04 Thread David A. Cobb
OK, "the reporter is confused" works for me.

Clipped from Xorg.0.log:

[43.521] (==) RADEON(0): Depth 24, (--) framebuffer bpp 32
[43.521] (II) RADEON(0): Pixel depth = 24 bits stored in 4 bytes (32 bpp
pixmaps)
[43.521] (==) RADEON(0): Default visual is TrueColor
[43.521] (==) RADEON(0): RGB weight 888
[43.522] (II) RADEON(0): Using 8 bits per RGB (8 bit DAC)
[43.522] (--) RADEON(0): Chipset: "ATI Radeon HD 4350" (ChipID = 0x954f)

So, that's a pretty low-end card, but I like the xscreensavers-extras
that appear to need 3D-acceleration, and I can't seem to get that
working.

NOTE: It was working under Ubuntu-13.04, but it's been an on-and-off.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 400875] Re: 9.04 PPC: fbdev wrongly configured in X

2013-11-04 Thread Gary Kenneth Krueger
By the way, my xorg.conf file was a custom multi-head configuration that
I had been building over the years.

Right now, I am not using multi-head. So, a default configuration makes
more sense.

The biggest conflict seems to be from trying to use a Matrox G450 (or
G550 - whatever it is), which was built for 4:3 ratio with a 16:9
display. The display resolutions are highly limited.

So, the default configuration makes me happy for now.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 400875] Re: 9.04 PPC: fbdev wrongly configured in X

2013-11-04 Thread Gary Kenneth Krueger
This happened to me also in Precise Penguin.

I've moved the xorg.conf file out of the way, and it is now using the
xorg.conf.failsafe. Works better for my current configuration.

It resolves the message. It allows me to make configuration changes via
the System Settings utility. That is all that I need right now.

I expect to copy xorg.conf.failsafe to xorg.conf in the near future, so
that I can customize it as desired. And, so that the failsafe file
doesn't get bungled by any apps that might modify it in the absence of
xorg.conf.

The machine has an MGA driver, but I don't have the patience to get that
driver working on the machine, considering that I expect that I may
"decommission" the machine as soon as I can get all of the files off of
it. Then again, I may upgrade the machine after all of the files are
moved off of the machine.

2013-11-04 Thread Raziel Gonzalez
How should I debug the KMS issue?
I tried running Opensuse 12.3 and it ran successfully (although only on legacy
(BIOS) mode). Would this help in someway?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1247832] [NEW] Lightdm often fails to show greeter (mouse cursor briefly visibly) ubuntu 13.10

2013-11-04 Thread Justin Ossevoort
Public bug reported:

On boot (or lightdm restart) often I don't get to see the greeter. Only
after running 'sudo restart lightdm' a couple of time do I get to
actually make it work.

X starts (and the mouse cursor is briefly visible) but shuts down
immediatly without an error in the logs.

On failure the lightdm greeter log shows:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1246810] [NEW] xrandr --left-of problem old radeon xorg driver

2013-11-04 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have more laptop with radon graphics card and I use xorg opensource
driver for it (not fglrx).

When I connect a secound monitor and the resolution are diference of the
two monitors and I want to use the secound monitor not in mirror mode,
it will be a little strange (you ccan see it in the attached picture).

Easy reproducate it:

1. connect the secound monitor
2. xrandr --output VGA-0 --mode 1280x1024 --rate 60
3. xrandr --output LVDS --left-of VGA-0 (after that you can see same thing as
in the attached picture)

In Ubuntu version 12.04, it is'nt a problem. From Ubuntu 12.10 I can
reproducate it to Ubuntu 13.10.
This problem not conncted with my laptop. My laptop has a ati radeon x200m
video card (msi mega book s270).
This problem also appear other laptop, for example hp 6515b with has x1200m

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1247785] [NEW] Stipple pattern looks like uninitialized memory

Public bug reported:

If you draw a stippled object on a TclTk canvas with negative
coordinates, and scroll to display it, the appearance of the stipple is
not that of the specified bitmap but looks like uninitialized data. See

The same code on the same machine will produce the correct display if
the window is on a different Xorg server.

Code:
