[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1161102] Re: GPU lockup on radeon while browsing through pictures in eye of gnome

2013-11-15 Thread Michael Murphy
Seems oibaf will soon stop supporting Ubuntu 12.04, so it would be best
to go the LTS Enablement Stack route only.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1251760] [NEW] Display keyboard froze

2013-11-15 Thread MichaelE
Public bug reported:

Was using my desktop PC when display completely froze. I did not do
anything special (I was surfing in my intranet). Keyboard was also
completely dead (could not switch numlock LED).

I could still observ random disk activity so I assume that the kernel was still
working (it did record some crash information to the attached kern.log).
I had to power-cycle to get access to the system again.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1251764] [NEW] Ubuntu 13.04 Web camera blue led won't turn off even on shutdown

2013-11-15 Thread n0_m0r3_pa1n
Public bug reported:

I have web camera Canyon CNP-WCAM313 and installed it on Ubuntu 13.04 x64. The
camera is detected by the os and lsusb shows:
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 0c45:6270 Microdia PC Camera (SN9C201 + MI0360/MT9V011
or MI0360SOC/MT9V111) U-CAM PC Camera NE878, Whitcom WHC017, ...

But when i start ubuntu or when i shut down the blue light on the camera
is not shutting down. I saw million problems with previous versions of
Ubuntu like mine but only one solution worked: add the gspca to the
blacklist which is very very bad decision.

I want the camera led to be turning off when i shutdown the pc or when i
am not using it. Is there any solution ?

Thanks!

With the Nouveau driver selected, my NVS 4200M/Ubuntu 13.10 system
frequently hangs when under heavy graphics load (flightgear usually
triggers this within a few minutes) and/or on battery power. This does
not happen with the nvidia-319 binary driver.

The mouse pointer continues to move at first, but often freezes later;
the keyboard LEDs do not react. Sounds already playing continue until
finished, but no new ones start (i.e. applications are frozen).
Alt+SysRq works.

The kernel log always has the error
nouveau ![ PFIFO][:01:00.0] unhandled status 0x0080
usually preceded by several instances of the warning
nouveau W[ PFIFO][:01:00.0] INTR 0x0100: 0x0005
and followed by a wide range of other errors.

This happens with both the default (3.11.0) kernel (Ubuntu bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-
nouveau/+bug/1243557 ) and the latest git kernel, with the default
userspace (libdrm-nouveau 2.4.46/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1.0.9/mesa
9.2.1); the attached logs are with the latter (crashes at Nov 15 18:05
and 18:42 in the kernel log, the Xorg log is from the second of these).

With the latest git userspace (xorg/proto/dri3proto, mesa/drm,
xcb/libxcb, xorg/lib/libxshmfence, mesa/mesa, xorg/proto/presentproto,
xcb/proto, nouveau/xf86-video-nouveau), the system hangs on boot (at a
correctly displayed graphical splash screen), with Alt+SysRq not working
and nothing recognisable as an error in the logs. I suspect this is due
to an incompatible combination of Ubuntu and latest-git (the recommended
mesa/drm, nouveau/xf86-video-nouveau, mesa/mesa wouldn't compile on its
own, as it needs dri3 which isn't in Ubuntu yet).

I'm not sure what the user-visible effect of the bug is, I suspect it
