[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184451] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites
I can second what I mentioned elsewhere: This is *not* related to nouveau. Nor is it related to Compiz effects. I get these symptoms maybe 10-20 per day: Screen freezes. Music/sound continues to work. Can move mouse but not click. Keyboard unresponsive. After maybe 10s the system comes back up. The hangs are seemingly random. Maybe slightly more likely to happen when system is under load. But can happen at any given time. I tried under Xfce, Gnome, and Unity. All environments display the symptom. And frankly, it's driving me nuts. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184451] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites
I am using the radeon graphics drivers on x86 and I have found that since upgrading from 13.04 the system seems to use less memory (as reported by top) but Firefox suffers from the bug descriped herein. It seems to be a bit worse when the system is under load, but in general when multi-tasking other programs respond exactly as I would expect them to (or perhaps even a bit quicker since 13.04) but Firefox very frequently seems to hang for a few seconds. I would have assume that it was the whole system locking up, but the mouse still moves, any sound/music in the background still plays and if I switch to any other window it responds fine. So I'll be using Chrome for now I guess... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1184451 Title: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1184451/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
