[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1247189] Re: [13.10] Ubuntu freezes completely when switching user

2013-12-30 Thread Justin Solms
Dear all.

I have the same problem after upgrading from 13.04. Only now I use
ubuntu 13.10 GNOME running GDM.

[Although I had the same problem when I tried unity with lightdm -
History: I was so frustrated I tried Unity (32 64 bit) and now Gnome
all with the same results.]

Ubuntu Gnome 13.10 32-bit.
NVIDIA Corporation GT218M (NVS 3100M/PCIe/SSE2)
3.8.0-34-generic
GDM 3.8.4

I switch user. I have the new user session. I then alt-ctl-f7. I then
have a frozen background-artwork-only graphic screen for the 1st user
session. No alt-ctl-f1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and so on. I have not yet tested if
I am able to ssh into the machine after it hangs.

Please advise of any additional info or tasks needed. I am currently
away on leave but shall be able to attend to instructions from you re
this matter from 2nd last week Jan'14 onward.

This really affects me allot as I have seperate business and home user
id's and switched allot in 13.04.

Kind regards,
Justin

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184691] Re: nvidia kernel module fails to build with kernel 3.10 or later [In function ‘nv_i2c_del_adapter’:... error: void value not ignored as it ought to be]

2013-12-30 Thread robin daniels
After i upgraded and got the black screen and all that...i discovered a
way to get my system working again.

I just hit Ctrl+Alt+F1 to get to a text console, and used apt-get from
there to remove the nvidia drivers (*all* of them), then installed
`nvidia-current`. After rebooting, everything was back to normal.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1265016] [NEW] Cannot switch user session

2013-12-30 Thread Mike
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I cannot switch user graphical session anymore. Ubuntu 13.10 here, lightdm
1.8.5-0ubuntu1.
The screen goes black with text cursor blinking in the top left corner and a
mouse arrow. After some time I get back to my session.

Tried removing ~/.Xauthority with no luck.

There is a /home/SteamLibrary folder without a corresponding user, doubt
that could a problem though.

No custom kernels, neither drivers. Integrated Intel video.

2013-12-30 Thread Paddy Landau
@Christopher Penalver, thank you for your query.

I have tested the latest 14.04 as you requested, using both a Live USB
and an installation. Alas, the touchscreen still does not work. (The
hardware still works with Windows.)

Back in July 2012, Benjamin Tissoires (who used to be on this bug's copy
list) gave me a solution that worked. However, time and kernels have
moved on, and that solution has long been passed by.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1265065] [NEW] Desktop freeze while drag-maximizing window

2013-12-30 Thread Per Vapp
Public bug reported:

It has happened today twice at 22:23 and 22:54. I laft click with mouse
on firefox titlebar and try to drag it up against taskbar to make FF
windo to maximize. I see this shadow/animation of window about to extend
its borders and desktop freezes. I do not remember if mouse still moves.
I go to another console Ctrl+Alt+1, log in, and execute pkill -U
username that brings me back to logon screen.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 998546] Re: 0408:3003 Touch-screen did work on 11.04 but no longer works on 12.04

2013-12-30 Thread Paddy Landau
Christopher, Benjamin worked it out over a series of emails. As I am not
technically minded, I don't really understand what happened; I just
followed a few instructions.

Fortunately, I kept all the email correspondence. I have put them into a
.tar.bz2 and attached them to this bug. The names of the email files
start with the date and time to make for easy chronological ordering. I
hope that you can make sense of Benjamin's solution.

Thank you for your time.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1255280] Re: Update to mesa 9.2.3

2013-12-30 Thread Shuhao
This bug blocks me from upgrading some machines to 13.10. Since 13.10's
support ends before 14.04 comes out, providing an upgrade so that I can
continue to get support is important.

Upgrading to 13.10 without this package will make things more
complicated.

2013-12-30 Thread Alan F
So, I'm also affected by this, as I have a Mobility Radeon HD 3450/3470, and
I'm a little confused about this. I have currently Ubuntu Precise, 12.04.3 LTS
Can I uninstall the xserver-xorg-lts-quantal packages, and replace them with
xserver-xorg-lts-precise packages in order to get fglrx working?

Thanks
