[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1265698] [NEW] Unity and GLX extensions are not working
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 13.04. Unable to find pkgname I decided to switch to a Nvidia graphic driver because I was noticing limitations with certain video games. I searched online and found a tutorial on how to install but when I rebooted after I had finished, the Unity interface no longer worked. I was able to get to the Gnome Fallback interface but now there is no GPU recognized in my system information and when I try to run certain programs an error message pops up saying that the GLX extension cannot be found. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 488152] Re: 1002:9552 [HP ProBook 4710s] With ATI restricted driver deactivated, GPU is overheating
Robert Roth, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux If reproducible, could you also please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc6 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Hello ! same issue as Alessio, on same laptop (ASUS X551CA). i've tried with 12.04.3 LTS and 13.10 : in System, Settings the tab and items related to touchpad (e.g. dual finger scroll) aren't available, and the touchpad is just seen as a PS2 Mouse. in a terminal, by typping "xinput", it's recognized as "PS/2 Elantech Touchpad". so, no multi touch features avaible, even no 2 fingers scroll. thanks Gilles ** Description changed: Bug occurred during a fresh install of Ubuntu-13.04. Attempted to fix by attempting another fresh install as well as reverting to the previous 12.04 version and switching interfaces such as installing Kubuntu. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
I am also facing the same issue. But since I am running kernel version 3.12.x the system is very stable. Freezes only once in a week with 3.12.5 (before I had freezes 1-3 times a day) I am not sure if it is the kernel version. As I am now working with Debian Jessie I also got a lot of updates from firmware to wifi driver. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
I have also been facing this problem for a long time. It began with 12.04LTS as I remember. Previously the system was stable as a rock running 10.04 LTS. Tried to re-install the OS from scratch, but still facing the problem. Changed Video card, main board. Swapping RAM tried different graphics drivers, different available kernels but there is still random freezing. Could not effort to change the $1000 CPU... To me it happens most often when kicking on a link in Thunderbird to be opened in Firefox. Complete freeze, but the mice some times still moves around. No response from keyboard at all (numloc and capsloc LEDs does not change). Some times the system freeze when running in idle, and I discover this at logon screen. Normal uptime is about two three days between forced HW reboots. The strange about this bug is, that my kids runs a PC Intel Core i7-3770 3,4GHz Asrock/Gigabyte B75-Chipset mATX without facing any problem at all. I'm also user on the PC, running Gnome classic and compiz. I never log out, just switch user. It only reboots when applying new packages that requires a reboot, els its always running stable. Current configuration facing this problem: uptime 12:57:54 up 1 day, 2:22 Gnome Classic + Compiz Linux-x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3960X CPU @ 3.30GHz Kernel 3.8.0-34-generic NVIDIA GTX760 Driver Version: 319.32 /dev/sda Samsung SSD 840 16 GB Main Memory MB Rampage IV Extreme -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently. [Ubuntu-x-swat] Request of help for bug #1219708
Good day and happy 2014 to all. I've recently "revitalized" a bug that may affect many new hardware from ASUS, as they implement teh ELANTech Touchpad and it does not work 100% OK with x-server. I'm not totally sure I've used the right process with this bug, therefore I'm asking you to kindly have a look to it and advice on anything I need to do or do differently to support progress on this field. I've been reported by the salesrep of my PC that the very same model is selling very well under X-mas, so I assume that there will be many more users reporting the same issue soon. I guess it would be nice to be able to tackle sooner, rather than later.
