Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 426663] Re: Touching the mousepad while typing causes multiplication of next letter pressed and loss of subsequent keyboard input

2014-01-09 Thread Marek Matusiak
Dear Christopher,

The computer in question is not operational anymore and thus cannot be
tested. Thus for me it is not an issue.

Best Regards,
Marek

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1080350] Re: 1002:9552 [Compaq Presario CQ61-320EG Notebook PC] CPU Overheating with ATI driver Radeon HD Mobility graphics

2014-01-09 Thread David Ayers
I was able to peak the temperature 96° on precise, but couldn't get it
to lockup anymore. So I have to correct my original statement that the
issue persists. It was based on the fact that the temperature rose
rather quickly above 90° after login while duplicity was running and
ubuntuone was collecting it's files. But even with a virtual machine
doing some processing and watching multiple vidoes in a browser it seems
that the temperature remains under 96° on precise and the CPU does not
lockup anymore.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1267714] [NEW] X segfaults when I toggle fullscreen mode in XBMC

2014-01-09 Thread Marius Gedminas
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce

1. Launch xbmc (I use version 2:12.3~git20131213.0944-frodo-0precise from
http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/ppa/ubuntu/)
2. Press \ a few times to toggle fullscreen mode

What happens: X segfaults and I'm thrown back to the login screen.
(xbmc also segfaults, but I don't care as much about that. It should
not be able to bring X down.)

Apport failed to attach certain unnamed log files because this is a user
account with no privileges (with autologin enabled). I will attach them
if you can tell me which ones are important. E.g. dmesg doesn't contain
anything about the X segfault (it mentions xbmc-bin segfaulting though),
while /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old has a (useless-looking) backtrace.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1080350] Re: 1002:9552 [Compaq Presario CQ61-320EG Notebook PC] CPU Overheating with ATI driver Radeon HD Mobility graphics

2014-01-09 Thread David Ayers
OK so after letting ubuntuone sync finish overnight, login out and back
in this morning, successfully starting deja-dup manually while ubuntuone
was collecting its files, watching the making of Sintel in WebM in the
browser, while installing precise via virt-manager, psensor indicated
that the temperature never went above 91° and after ubuntuone finished
collecting it's files, dropped to 80° while the rest was still happily
using CPU. It was a but sluggish at times, indicating throttling. But
it seems that with the default settings (no profile adjustments needed),
the code in trusty does not overheat (esp. no lockups) can be
reproduced.

I will try to work without th external cooling in precise now, to see if
this still is an issue there, since there have been plenty of updates
since. But I would say that the overheating issue is fixed for trusty.

Thanks!

I think most people (at least myself) have moved beyond a mactel with

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 947354] Re: Synaptics Soft Button Areas not working in HP Envy 14 Clickpad

2014-01-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Nicolás Abel Carbone, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't
been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-synaptics REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 945632] Re: Laptop touchpad scroll problem

2014-01-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Boisteanu Mihai, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-synaptics REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 934253] Re: touchpad not recognized (no touchpad tab in mouse preferences)

2014-01-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Sebastian, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-synaptics REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Helpful bug reporting tips:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1248391] Re: Can't mirror more than 640x480

2014-01-09 Thread Chris Weiss
using xrandr to add the 1280x720 resolution does work and looks fine,
but it does not persist reboots, and there is no option I can find in
the Displays tool to at add it as implied. Since it was an option in
windows I'm assuming there's something different about how the panel
and/or cards supported resolutions are detected.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1267665] Re: Unable to upgrade Unity due to libxi6 dependency

2014-01-09 Thread Andy Smith
Hi Dmitri,

Thanks, that appears to have fixed it.

Content of /etc/apt/preferences was:

http://paste.ubuntu.com/6724511/

I have no recollection of ever having personally edited that file, but
it is possible.

After removing it and doing an apt-get update, I was offered a large
number of upgrades with no removals.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 909980] Re: Display and touchpad freeze

2014-01-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
pramathesh ambasta, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't
been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-synaptics REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 840509] Re: touchpad triple-tap to middle-click stopped working in 11.10

2014-01-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Jean-Baptiste Mazon, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 830099] [NEW] Mouse stopped moving - touchpad still responds

2014-01-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Yes, I know this is mis-filed. Surfing the web to learn the right filing system
is a little difficult when my mouse is not working.
Hopefully this contains info about how it happened. It's happened several times
before and I restarted X. This time I decided to report a bug. I'm sure it's a
dup, so will attempt to link it after my Xorg restart.
What I mean in the description is that I can touch four fingers on the touchpad
and the Unity menu opens up. I just can't move the mouse pointer, scroll, or
click. Actually I CAN click. So just can't scroll or move the mouse.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1267665] Re: Unable to upgrade Unity due to libxi6 dependency

2014-01-09 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
libxi 2:1.7.1.901-1ubuntu1~precise1 was published in precise-updates
pocket on the 6th of January

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libxi/2:1.7.1.901-1ubuntu1~precise1

It appears as if on your system there are non standard pinning levels,
and thus instead of installing from -updates pocket, libxi6 from
-security pocket is installed. (990, 900)

Please note, that generally one does not need to rank -security pocket,
higher than -updates pocket. As security updates always "trump" updates
pocket, by strict version number comparison.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 774877] [NEW] Ubuntu 11.4 -> Synaptics touchpad left click button working randomly

2014-01-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hello!

The left button of my Synaptics touchpad (on a Vaio VGN-CS11S) works
randomly (i.e. sometimes yes and sometimes no) ever since I installed
Ubuntu 11.4. I've already made some tests:

- Same problem happens using liveCD
- Same problem happens with or without NVIDIA drivers
- Xorg.0.log doesn't show any difference
- Using a different system (i.e. a not very updated Archlinux) makes the
problem disappear
- If left button isn't working also tapping won't work (depsite having enabled
it) and if I hot-plug an usb mouse also the mouse left button doesn't work
- Restarting X (Ctrl-Alt-Del) with the USB mouse plugged makes the tap (and the
mouse left button) work again
- Mouse is configured for right handed
- Malfunctioning starts before logging in

I'll attach (as soon as I find out how ) the Xorg log and xorg.conf.
Sorry I'm not aware on any way to reproduce it... it happens just at
random

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1189577] Re: Holding down the Meta_L key and pressing the 'p' key wipes out the display

2014-01-09 Thread vulgar
It is my intention to remain on 12.04 for the foreseeable future and I
currently have a fairly slow internet connection, so using a current
version is infeasible.

I have noticed that this behavior appears to be cycling the video setup
according to some pattern; e.g. switching to mirrored displays (I'm
currently using 2 monitors), or swapping monitor placement. The results
of this switching seem to be better-behaved recently and it seems like
this may be a "feature" instead of a bug. I recall reading at some
point that Microsoft had proposed automatically switching video display
setups when the user presses the 'Windows' key and the 'P' key together,
but have been unable to locate that information again. If this is a
feature, is it possible to find some way to disable it? I have turned
off every key binding I can find in the configuration (since I use emacs
and these bindings generally cause problems) but this behavior remains.

Screen has frozen multiple times per day, except for the mouse cursor, which i
can still move around, but does not interact with anything. this bug first
started occuring a few days ago when i installed my new graphics card and
switched to the reccomended nvidia driver (319.32-0ubuntu7). it seems to occur
randomly, can be from gaming, can be from as little as using gome-terminal, so
it is likely caused by Unity's compositing. attached are 2 files i fetched over

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 591656] Re: scrolling issues using touchpad

2014-01-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
hnrkg, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-synaptics REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.
