Robert Grønning, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Val, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc8 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. It still doesn't find the firmware after updating the initramfs (sudo update-initramfs -u -k all), whether it is placed at /lib/firmware/nouveau/nvd9_fuc*, /lib/firmware/nouveau/fuc*, /lib/firmware/kernel_version/nouveau/nvd9_fuc* or /lib/firmware/kernel_version/nouveau/fuc*. The files were in /lib/firmware/nouveau with the names the script gave them (nvd9_fuc*). But was this /lib/firmware/nouveau available when the nouveau module loaded? (In reply to comment #18) It still doesn't find the firmware after updating the initramfs (sudo update-initramfs -u -k all), whether it is placed at /lib/firmware/nouveau/nvd9_fuc*, /lib/firmware/nouveau/fuc*, /lib/firmware/kernel_version/nouveau/nvd9_fuc* or /lib/firmware/kernel_version/nouveau/fuc*. (The script uses nvd9_fuc* but http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/NVC0_Firmware/ says just fuc* for pre-NVE0 cards.) Erm, that's a lie. I've been meaning to fix it. I'm like 99.999% sure it always has to be nvXX_fucYYY[cd]. I'll double-check it again before updating the wiki. Putting it in /lib/firmware/nouveau is sufficient -- adding in the kernel version also works, but you'd normally just do that for firmware that was kernel version dependent, which this isn't. My 3.13-rc7 test kernel was compiled with the procedure in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/GitKernelBuild; the .config lines containing nouveau are CONFIG_DRM_NOUVEAU=m CONFIG_NOUVEAU_DEBUG=5 CONFIG_NOUVEAU_DEBUG_DEFAULT=3 CONFIG_DRM_NOUVEAU_BACKLIGHT=y and kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau.ko is on the modules.order list, not the modules.builtin list. Don't know what to say. It just uses request_firmware() so it's whatever the kernel's normal mechanism for loading firmware. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1243557 Title: 10de:1056 [Dell Latitude E6520] [NVS 4200M] X freeze, unhandled status 0x0080 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nouveau/+bug/1243557/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 360724] Re: [RV515] Kubuntu: Corrupted mouse cursor after moving between screens
It's still an issue. I'm on the latest Kubuntu with a Radeon, and my experience is almost exactly the same as described above. I'm using KDE PPAs (so I should have the latest KDE packages as well). Also on the latest standard kernel, etc. On reboot, the mouse cursor is the same on both monitors. For some reason that I can't determine, moving between them sometimes triggers the cursor to split into a vertical line into about a dozen very small cursors. (Sounds just like the report here: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33183 which is almost certainly the same issue). Then moving back and forth causes the cursor to become larger and completely garbled (in a square about 1 cm x 1 cm, at least twice as large as the original cursor), and after a few more times between each monitor, the cursor settles into the chopped cursor posted in the images by those above until reboot. Some other observations: * The cursor still points at the same spot, so it seems to be a purely rendering issue. * The two monitors are not the same resolution. * If I open a virtual machine on the corrupted monitor, the cursor is still corrupted inside the virtual machine window, but changes color as expected (from Kubuntu blue to Ubuntu white). * Nothing else seems to be affected visually. ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #33183 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33183 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/360724 Title: [RV515] Kubuntu: Corrupted mouse cursor after moving between screens To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/360724/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1001821] [NEW] [regression] MSI Wind U-100 hangs on resume from suspend
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Worked fine in Oneiric. Upon upgrading to Precise, approximately 3/4 suspends will hang upon resume. Mouse is movable, and in fact the cursor changes correctly to I-beam when mousing over text that was already on the screen, however nothing responds to mouse or keyboard input. Pressing alt-sysrq-k successfully kicks back to the login screen, and everything is fine. Filing against x.org because the following appears in kern.log on every failed suspend: [drm:drm_mode_getfb] *ERROR* invalid framebuffer id (If kernel or compiz are more appropriate, please reassign). I'm willing to get my hands dirty tracking this down. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1242180] Re: saucy regression - three monitors no longer work
I usually upgrade my system a few months after a release so bugs like this are identified and have plenty of time to be fixed before I upgrade. I just upgraded from 13.04 to 13.10 and ran into this exact bug (and currently stuck only being able to use two of my three monitors). It is unfortunate that this bug was identified and mostly tracked down then stalled without getting fixed. As a user of Ubuntu, I would most certainly like to answer the question from Christopher Would you need a backport to a release prior to Trusty with a resounding YES! Please backport the fix in the kernel to the current production release of Ubuntu, Saucy Salamander (13.10). It seems like Roger was very willing to try other 3.12 kernels to narrow down the bug fix and it would be great if Timo or whoever would continue working with Roger to narrow down the problem so it is easier to identify the bug fix and backport it to the current Ubuntu release. I would much prefer to use the currently supported kernel instead of running a pre-Ubuntu-release kernel. But in the mean time, Roger, please share your notes in the comments with the workaround you are using to run a newer kernel with the fix (that is also hopefully stable), thanks! Christopher, can you please reclassify the status of this bug and put in the request to have the fix backported? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242180 Title: saucy regression - three monitors no longer work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1242180/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1242180] Re: saucy regression - three monitors no longer work
All I know is that whatever the cause was, it was fixed in 3.12 even in the rcs. I have no idea what the actual fix was. Kernel 3.11 end of lifed November last year. I also use btrfs for which there have been maintenance patches in 3.12. I followed the Kernel Build and Installation section at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/GitKernelBuild -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242180 Title: saucy regression - three monitors no longer work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1242180/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
