[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 883319] Re: xrandr --scale restricts area in which mouse moves

2014-02-24 Thread lars
Still happening for me on a Eee 901. Does other software need to be
aware of a change in xrandr?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1284013] [NEW] [Acer ICONIA W700]grub 2 key problem. no timeout on live-usb with dd (UEFI).

2014-02-24 Thread vasya
Public bug reported:

There are four buttons on ICONIA W700.
1. orientation lock
2. win-key
3. power off
4. volume up/down

If one creates bootable usb-flash with dd, there is no timeout on boot screen.
The solution is to use Unetbootin and put timeout manually. I think that it's
wrong and this can be difficult for many users.
Also, all of the keys on this device (except power off) are sending down
signal in the selection menu. So, there is no way to start ubuntu live-usb
without keyboard. I know, that this is device-related, but it can be fixed too,
and it will be great if one can start ubuntu install without keyboard or
editing grub.cfg.

** Affects: grub2 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Package changed: xorg-server (Ubuntu) = grub2 (Ubuntu)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1283568] Re: Desktop crashes when changing resolution

2014-02-24 Thread Chris Wilson
Another option worth testing is:

Option TearFree true

That would rule out it being a hw pageflip issue if it works, since it
too uses pageflips.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1277905] Re: Game windows (minecraft, titan attacks, maybe others) on Intel are transparent and no longer playable

2014-02-24 Thread Ryan Finnie
Chris, I can reproduce it consistently. The effect is immediate, and
shows up in screenshots. I haven't tried an external display, but
according to Xorg.0.log, my Thinkpad is running at native 1366x768.

Minecraft is the only application I've seen it on in trusty so far, but
admittedly I don't really play games on my laptop.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1033533] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT: exaMemcpyBox with src=0x0 on nouveau with SW rendering

2014-02-24 Thread Ignacio
Hi, I'm new so sorry if I don't describe it very well.

For me this always happens when I suspend the system, I just cannot do
it. As soon as I try to resume it, screen gets corrupted, Corrupted
pixels and squares are floating around.

Sometimes I get the same error in other ways. Today I was watching a
video in IMDB while a Virtuabox + Vagrant + several other tabs were
opened in Chrome.

Is there any workaround to avoid this? I have an Nvidia card but Gallium
0.4 on NVA5 driver is installed.

I don't know if this helps. Thanks.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1284296] [NEW] screen blanks (as if computer is off) after grub but only sometimes

2014-02-24 Thread Matt Bunt
Public bug reported:

First of all, I appologize if I filed this bug wrong, this is my first
time. I am also not 100% sure it is Xorg related, but that seemed the
most appropriate choice when I was anwsering the questions in the
ubuntu-bug utility.

$ cat /proc/version_signature
Ubuntu 3.13.0-12.32-generic 3.13.4
$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch)
Release:14.04

I originally tried to install 13.10 but had this intermittent blank
screen problem so I hoped 14.04 would have a fix but it did not and now
I'm troubleshooting in 14.04.

The problem is intermittently after I select ubuntu from grub my screen
will blank (no signal) as if my computer were off. Here is a link to my
forum post discussing the problem and what I've done to try to resolve
it http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2207624. I'm not sure if the
computer has crashed or its simply not outputing video, but the only way
to recover is to do a hard restart and cross my fingers that it wont
happen next time.

I know there are many bugs about blank screens, but this one seems to be
unique in that it happens seemingly at random (race condition?).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1284318] [NEW] alternate finger tapping causes cursor to jump

2014-02-24 Thread chrispb
Public bug reported:

I've found that if I quickly alternate tapping with two fingers on the
touchpad the cursor jumps wildly.

This is quite frustrating for me as I often move the cursor with one
finger on my right hand while subsequently clicking the bottom left of
the touchpad with the left to cause a 'left click' action. Often this
causes my mouse to jump to the bottom left of the screen and open the
cinnamon menu window.

It seems if I monitor events with xinput that the a[0] and a[1] events
are being swapped.

I would have thought that the synaptics driver code would have
identified 'erratic' input events which appear to be too far apart to be
naturally occurring and simply filter them out?

I could not repeat this when I loaded an Ubuntu 13.10 Live USB disk but
the Synaptics TouchPad driver did not appear to be loaded at that time
as it didn't appear in xinput list.

I am using Ubuntu 13.10 with Intel i7 and ATI 7770.
I face exactly the same issue as described and I think this should be fixed in
Ubuntu 14.04
as it affects usability of the OS.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1266492] Re: ld:i386 crashes with -static -fPIE -pie

2014-02-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package eglibc - 2.19-0ubuntu2

---
eglibc (2.19-0ubuntu2) trusty; urgency=medium

  * Merge with unreleased 2.19 from Debian experimental, fixing some bugs:
- debian/patches/any/local-no-malloc-backtrace.diff: Lower the default
for MALLOC_CHECK_ to 1, and add it to the list of insecure variables
that can't be set for suid binaries. This allows us to not backtrace
malloc failures by default (Closes: #739913, LP: #1266492) and skips
backtrace for suid binaries where an attacker calling into a corrupt
malloc internal data structure with malloc could lead to Bad Things.
- Make ldconfig stop operating on the linker entirely, so our packaged
symlinks take precedence and hack the postinst to skip ldconfig when
we detect a broken setup that the old ldconfig mangles (LP: #915995)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1284495] [NEW] Save to X Configuration File doesn't work on empty/nonexisting file

2014-02-24 Thread Sworddragon
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 dev with nvidia-settings 331.20-0ubuntu8. On
opening nvidia-settings and trying to save a X configuration file with
X Server Display Configuration - Save to X Configuration File it is
not possible to save the content if the given path doesn't exist or if
the file the path is poiting to is empty. I'm getting just this error:
Unable to open X config file '/home/sworddragon/tmp/xorg.conf' for
writing.
