[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1295526] [NEW] disable touchpad while typing doesn't work
Public bug reported: Disable touchpad while typing checkbox in System Settings does not work on my Asus F5N laptop. The button to disable touchpad does not work as well. As a workaround I use syndaemon -i 1 -K -d command as per Ubuntu help page https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticsTouchpad/ but it does not fix the issue with the said chechbox and hardware button. I guess it still needs to access shared memory using SHMconfig option in xorg.conf in which case it is the same bug that has been around for 3 years starting from Ubuntu 11.10 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 1.7.3-1ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-6.23-generic 3.13.0 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-6-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.13.3-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Fri Mar 21 10:10:18 2014 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: trusty DistroVariant: ubuntu EcryptfsInUse: Yes MachineType: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1295526] Re: disable touchpad while typing doesn't work
Actually, neither starting syndaemon via rc.local nor enabling SHMconfig in xorg.conf helped. The only way to disable touchpad while typing was to start syndaemon from a graphic session as a user. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1171342] Re: mouse scroll wheel not working in gedit System Monitor
I see the same issue after upgrading (yes, just recently, I'm a slacker) to 13.10 from 13.04, on evince and nautilus. I too am running XFCE. (Specifically 4.10) Hovering over those applications and using the scroll wheel still raises them, just as if I'd clicked on them, but does not scroll them. click scrolling (as described above by Willy) does cause the applications in question to scroll. The click functionality of my scrollwheel is normal unix middle button behaviour. I will try the PPA listed above and report back. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1171342 Title: mouse scroll wheel not working in gedit System Monitor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtk/+bug/1171342/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1295689] [NEW] Mouse randomly moves and clicks stuff
Public bug reported: More and more in the past month or so I have been experiencing what appears to be a random takeover of my computer. The mouse just starts randomly moving around the screen in a spastic kind of way and then starts clicking stuff. This is on a Thinkpad W510 Touchscreen and happens when no external input devices are connected and also with external wired input devices as well. Not sure how to even start debugging this. I have a fair amount of command line experience and can help with a significant amount of the debugging if I can get a little bit of guidance. Unfortunately, I do not know how to consistantly reproduce this. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1295860] [NEW] touchscreen calibration spans dual screens
Public bug reported: I am testing Ubuntu 14.04 on a microsoft surface pro. Touch and pen input is good out of the box but when a second display is connected the touch and pen inputs are both calibrated to span both screen. I.e., on my setup with external display arranged to be above internal display, both with 1920x1080 resolution, a touch of the top left of the surface pro touch screen triggers a button press at the top left of the external display; whie a touch at the bottom left of the surface pro screen triggers a button press at that location. What I expected to happen: Touch and pen input could only trigger button presses on the internal, touch display. What happened: Touch and pen input spans both displays. lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch) Release:14.04 ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1295860 Title: touchscreen calibration spans dual screens To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1295860/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1295900] [NEW] lubuntu screen corruption only on cold boot.
Public bug reported: steps: 1) cold boot (power on) 2) choose boot (grub) 3) login (lightdm) When logging in, the login rectangle doesn't disappear like it should. 4) Xorg starts Desktop appears but the outline of the login-rectangle is still there. Also everything else that is drawn on the screen stays drawn (i.e. closed windows are still visable, a moved window leaves a trail) as if the system forgets to erase previously drawn objects. Strangely enough, the mousepointer doesn't seem to be affected. 5) logout (to lightdm) or: sudo restart lightdm or: sudo killall -SIGTERM Xorg or: sudo reboot 6) login again Everything is suddenly working as it should ( high order magic ?? ) I have had this problem before with kernels newer than 3.13.0-8 but a kernel header install followed by a kernel image reinstall would always fix it. Since kernel 3.13.0-18 this fix doesn't work anymore. I assume the problem is (partly) in KMS since it appears in lightdm (before X starts) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: xserver-xorg 1:7.7+1ubuntu8 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-18.38-generic 3.13.6 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-18-generic i686 ApportVersion: 2.13.3-0ubuntu1 Architecture: i386 CurrentDesktop: LXDE Date: Sat Mar 22 01:15:43 2014 InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-01-04 (76 days ago) InstallationMedia: Lubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr - Alpha i386 (20140102) SourcePackage: xorg UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 trusty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1295900 Title: lubuntu screen corruption only on cold boot.
