Actually, after some more testing it's probably more accurate to say the mouse is too small basically *everywhere* except for when hovering over the interior of some applications like terminal, firefox, and parts of software center. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1311965 Title: UI scaling inconsistent when using new display scaling option To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1311965/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1311965] [NEW] UI scaling inconsistent when using new display scaling option
Public bug reported: Just installed Ubuntu 14.04 on a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, which has a 3200x1800 display. Consequently, I need to scale up everything in the system to have anything render at a reasonable size. I found the new "Scale for menu and title bars" option in the Display Settings, and set it it 2.25. This, for the most part, did what I wanted. * Unity interface is scaled * Text is scaled * Many builtin applications seem to scale correctly However, there's some funky inconsistencies as to what has scaled: * Depending on what the mouse is over, it either renders at the larger (correct) size, or a smaller (incorrect) size. Examples of things which render the mouse incorrectly include the global/window bars, unity application selector, most applications (firefox and most of software center are notable exceptions), and sometimes right-click menus. * Some (GTK provided?) widgets (most notably checkboxes, radio buttons, scroll bars, and ) render too small. This is visible in most third-party applications, which are otherwise correctly sized. Firefox and CompizConfig are examples of this, even after layout.css.devPixelsPerPx was changed in Firefox to match the display setting. * The change occasionally doesn't correctly register with some or all applications (regardless of whether they were open at the time). Adjusting the slider always changes the unity global ui correctly, but sometimes the settings manager or nautillus would not actually render at an increased size, even after a reboot. Other times it would register fine even without a reboot. apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected trusty ** Description changed: My HTPC is hooked up to a Toshiba 37C3000P. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1311889] [NEW] App launcher icons don't respond
Public bug reported: Left click on an app icon in the launcher bar works fine on first use. After closing the app, it is impossible to open the app again by left click. The only way to open the same app is to right click and select the open option from the menu. Software updater would not launch after notifying me by being highlighted that updates were available. It was necessary to use apt-get in terminal to update. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1311881] [NEW] dual screen ubuntu 14.04, second screen only partially displaying desktop
Public bug reported: The second screen on my 2 monitor Ubuntu 14.04 setup is only partially showing any of the desktop. The primary screen is a 22" 1680*1050 and the secondary screen is 1920*1200. The primary screen has a complete and true 1680*1050 desktop, but the secondary screen only shows 1" of the 1920*1200 screen down the left vertical. The rest of the desktop is obscured under some "black window", with only the mouse being displayed as it travels through that screen. Any windows or items below that black area, can be interacted with, and the mouse indicates their presence with resize/minimise and other hints, but they do not display over the black area. The system was working perfectly fine in 13.10 and this issue only occurred after I upgraded to 14.04 and, faced with a "failed to start session" bug on the login screen, resorted to an "apt-get install ubuntu-desktop" to get my desktop up and running. My graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 6670 and my monitors are Samsung Syncmaster 2232bw (22") and Dell UM2412M. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1140716] Re: [regression] 3.5.0-26-generic and 3.2.0-39-generic GPU hangs on Sandybridge
I was still having this bug on a fresh install of 14.04 (kernel 3.13.0-24-generic). Strangely, since setting i915.semaphores=1 (suggested at http://askubuntu.com/questions/50033/unity-gui-pauses- freezes-for-less-than-a-few-seconds/ all the way back in 2011) I no longer get hangs. The default value of i915.semaphores seems to be -1 (according to `cat /sys/module/i915/parameters/semaphores`) and the advice elsewhere of setting i915.semaphores=0 had no effect for me. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1283938] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 blank screen after wakeup from sleep
I have the same problem on old Dell 1525 laptop with an update to Ubuntu 14.04 final release from 13.10. I seem to have temporarily fixed the problem by doing the following: Go to Security & Privacy - Un-check the ticked boxes under Require my password when 'Waking from Suspend' and 'Returning from Blank Screen' i.e. no passwords needed after suspend This seems to be working so far and the machine wakes up okay after I shut the laptop lid and the machine has entered suspend mode. Whether it's a full fix I don't know, but it is working for now. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1283938 Title: Ubuntu 14.04 blank screen after wakeup from sleep To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1283938/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1311523] [NEW] Nvidia won't select 14.04 LTS
Public bug reported: Prologue: I did a fresh install of 14.04 and the install was pretty rough with artifacts all over hdmi and needing to mouse over everything in order to reveal an updated image. Kind of like scratching off gift cards or lotto tickets, but with a screen. After a day or so everything seemed to work alright save for needing to ~$ kill -15 -1 twice in order to use the trackpad and mouse properly. After working fairly well like this (so long as I didn't reboot) for a week, I can't seem to get nvidia working properly today. What I expected to happen: I typically work from my laptop ( m11x R3 ) during the day and hook it up to an external monitor via hdmi at home. To conserve battery, I use $ sudo tlp bat and use intel on the go. At home I log in, select nvidia, plug in via hdmi & everything runs smoothly. What actually happened: Today I come home and hdmi won't work, m11x got really hot, and hard drive filled up with 8ish GB each kernlog plus syslog. I deleted kernlog to free up space and reboot in order to open chrome. The following was looped in syslog: """ Apr 22 19:27:45 gb9Box kernel: [ 48.032709] ACPI Exception: AE_NOT_FOUND, while evaluating GPE method [_L1B] (20131115/evgpe-580) Apr 22 19:27:45 gb9Box kernel: [ 48.032759] ACPI Error: [\_SB_.PCI0.PEG0.PEGP.DPLF] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND (20131115/psargs-359) Apr 22 19:27:45 gb9Box kernel: [ 48.032780] ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed [\_GPE._L1B] (Node 8801d68cd0f0), AE_NOT_FOUND (20131115/psparse-536) """ Please accept this peace offering of supplementary information and dmesg attachment.
