Is the screen intensity fluctuating or do parts of the image on the
screen change sporadically?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1326257] [NEW] [nvidia-prime] Cannot adjust brightness in guest session and results in black screen while changing the resolution

2014-06-04 Thread Tammy Yang
Public bug reported:

Running the proprietary nvidia drivers in an Optimus config works
(Intel+NVIDIA) can discover two issues:

1. Cannot adjust brightness in the guest session (private bug #1290694)
[Test Case]
 * Switch to guest session and adjust brightness from settings or hotkey or
command line
- Expected: Can adjust the brightness
- Bad behavior: Cannot adjust brightness

2. Black screen while changing the resolution (private bug #1285062)
but switching to the guest session results in a black screen.
[Test Case]
 * Go to display setting, set rotation to counterclockwise/clockwise/180
degrees and click apply
  - Expected results: Can switch display rotation successfully
  - Actual results: Black screen when switching display rotation

2014-06-04 Thread Tammy Yang
Alberto has provided a fix in nvidia-prime to change xorg*.template

from
Driver modesetting
to
Driver intel

and add

Option AccelMethod UXA

The modified testing package is attached.
With the update of xorg-server for bug #1322212, this nvidia-prime package can
pass all OEM QA tests.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1311828] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT

2014-06-04 Thread manolo
It affects me when:
1) I login into Ubuntu (just the anoying crash report)

2) browsing with firefox (usualy when doing a login into a website that
has some part of flash); this is specially fustrating because a command
line like screen appears and after a seconds appear the login screen
(the system has logged me out and I have lost all the programs that I
have opened)

I hope this will be solved soon otherwise I'll have to move to other
operating system.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1326320] [NEW] gksu needed but not installed as dependency

2014-06-04 Thread Redmar
Public bug reported:

The catalyst control center (admin) only starts properly when gksu is
installed, but gksu is not a dependency of the fglrx-amdcccle package.

How to reproduce
1) remove gksu: sudo apt-get remove gkso
2) install fglrx-amdcccle: sudo apt-get install fglrx-amdcccle
3) Try starting the AMD catalyst control center from the Dash. You get a small
terminal-like screen that ask for the password. If you input the password
nothing else happens
4) install gksu: sudo apt-get install gksu
5) Open AMD catalyst again from the dash, now it opens properly.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1326257] Re: [nvidia-prime] Cannot adjust brightness in guest session and results in black screen while changing the resolution

2014-06-04 Thread Alberto Milone
We are disabling rotations in hybrid mode since it's not really
supported (see the pending SRU in LP: #1308515). Also switching to the
guest session will work.

What the Intel+UXA combination should fix is issues with the backlight
i.e. point 1) that you mentioned. I'm not sure about 2).

Unfortunately I can't confirm this workaround. In my case it just
doesn't flicker directly after starting the computer. After a short
moment using it the flickering reappears.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1275416] Re: touchscreen do not work after suspend/resume

2014-06-04 Thread ADRIANO MARCELINO SALGADO
An addition,

Just the one-finger/two-finger touch are unresponsive. Three-finger
/four-finger touches keep working fine!

I've tried to put a script with the Ctrl+Alt+F6 / Ctrl+Alt+F7 commands
in /etc/pm/sleep.d/, but it won't run after lockscreen unlock. After pm-
suspend command in terminal the script works just fine!

Any ideas?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 269904] Re: Screen refresh problems with nvidia cards

2014-06-04 Thread Christopher Townsend
Hello,

I'm getting quite frustrated that we cannot get this patch into Compiz
proper due to the silly licensing issue. So what I have done is create
a Compiz PPA that includes the attached patch. The PPA can be found
here: https://launchpad.net/~townsend/+archive/compiz-nvidia-refresh-
test

This PPA has packages for Precise, Trusty, and Utopic. Could people who
are affected by this try out the packages for those Ubuntu releases and
report back on whether the issue is resolved or not? I'd really like to
get a feel if this is a good fix and if so, try to put pressure on the
parties in play to get this included in Compiz.

Thanks in advance everyone! I look forward to your feedback.

2014-06-04 Thread Daniel Letzeisen
Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't
include enough information.
We have instructions on debugging X issues at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Reporting

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thanks
