(Probably caused by bug 1334167, it can't enter S4)

Step:
1. Install 14.04, boot to desktop
2. Hibernate with sudo pm-suspend-hybrid

Expected result:
* System should work properly before / after S3-hybrid

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1328542] Re: OCL-ICD provides a free generic OpenCL implementation, should ubuntu policy be to build applications against this loader vs closed vendor implementations

2014-06-25 Thread dino99
Really needs to be fixed asap because of some conflicts:

for example i'm trying the kernel 3.16 but it needs nvidia-340 on my
system; as i also use wine1.7 on that ubuntu utopic i386 pc, i'm getting
the usual ocl-icd-libopencl1 / nvidia-libopencl1-340 conflict.

So i have to choose between wine / opencl to be installed: not a
solution.

** Description changed:

- CID: 201302-12681 Dell OptiPlex 3011
+ CID: 201302-12681 Dell OptiPlex 9020

This system cannot enter the hybird-suspend mode with the open source driver
(Probably caused by bug 1334167, it can't enter S4)

  Step:
  1. Install 14.04, boot to desktop
  2. Hibernate with sudo pm-suspend-hybrid

  Expected result:
  * System should work properly before / after S3-hybrid

  Actual result:
  * Display turned off and system seems to be freezed, unable to enter
S3-hybrid. You have to hold the power button to turn it off.

Note: this issue could be solved by using the proprietary fglrx driver.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1314787] Re: Memory leak

2014-06-25 Thread Robert
I have the same problem, memory leak galore, fglrx in combination with
Xorg and the selected window manager.

Ironically the bug seem to trigger memory leaks in Xorg a lot faster
when using Gnome classic login (metacity), like 1GB per day, than it
does when you login choosing Unity (default), where it leaks roughly
200mb per day for me. In comparison, on another heavily used desktop
with Ubuntu 12.04 and nvidia drivers, Xorg allocates roughly 200mb after
a month uptime using Gnome classic login (metacity).

I guess one of the reasons this bug report is left unassigned, because
Unity in general is leaky, and has been since launch with slowly
growing Xorg, so this is expected to some extent.

So either use Unity login as workaround, or use classic login (metacity)
and watch Xorg leak faster than you can type this command:

ps -eo fname, rss | grep Xorg

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1316454] Re: intel_reg_dumper crashed with SIGABRT in __libc_start_main()

2014-06-25 Thread Timo Aaltonen
** Description changed:

An error dialog will be shown after user login to the desktop environment.
  The error is :

The intel_reg_dumper raise SIGABRT on Intel ValleyView Gen7 [8086:0f31]
  platform.

+ Bumping intel-gpu-tools to 1.7 as SRU is unrealistic, and backporting
+ new hw support didn't fix it, so the easiest way to work around this
+ issue is to not abort() when it fails to detect the chip gen related
+ register maps. This should prevent core dumps and the crash reports.
+
+ [Test Case]
This issue can be reproduced by running the command:

  # sudo intel_reg_dumper
Gen2/3 Ranges are not supported. Please use unsafe access. (Core dump)

+ [Regression potential]
+ None really, it just won't dump core which hardly anything relies on..

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1334396] [NEW] Fonts broken on second head when using zaphodheads with intel driver

2014-06-25 Thread Paul Bemwoski
Public bug reported:

I am running a fully updated version of Xubuntu 14.04 on a Lenovo T420
using intel graphics.

I run a second monitor with zaphod head mode.

The fonts on any application on the second monitor are randomly broken.
I tried to fix the individual applictions - gedit, xfce-terminal,
eclipse. But the problem keeps returning.

I found the error, and solution here:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54707

The 2.99.212 driver seems to include the fix:
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-intel/tree/NEWS

but the current version available with the package manager does not include the
fix:
ii xserver-xorg-video-intel
2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1 amd64X.Org X server -- Intel
i8xx, i9xx display driver

I'd like to get that version pushed forward if possible.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1328542] Re: [xorg-edgers] OCL-ICD provides a free generic OpenCL implementation, should ubuntu policy be to build applications against this loader vs closed vendor implementation

2014-06-25 Thread Andrey Shmakov
@Graham libviennacl-dev has a build-depends on libopencl1 (virtual) and
does not specify a suggested implementation (although this is against
policy, so probably can be filed as a bug against that package) .

opencl loaders *should* be interchangeable if they follow the
traditional virtual package definition, but due to the vendor issue in
implementations this is not always the case. Any package that has a
build-depends on libopencl1 without specifying ocl-icd-opencl1 as the
recommended dependency will depend on whatever buildd decides to pull to
satisfy that dependency.

I see this becoming an issue in the future. This has been discussed in
debian (http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/ocl-
icd.git;a=blob;f=debian/README.Debian;hb=HEAD) See for instance line
#310

Even that debian readme is out of date, I have had trouble exchanging
Intel-opencl and ocl-opencl between compile time and runtime. I see this
becoming a bigger issue in the future, the consortium members are not
doing a good job at maintaining symbol compatibility and are more
concerned with vendor specific extensions to OpenCL, I feel that Ubuntu
should nip it in the bud as early as possible and require all build-
depends and depends to point to ocl-icd and have the virtual-package
libopencl1 point only to the open implementation.

Hello Franz, or anyone else affected,

Accepted intel-gpu-tools into trusty-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/intel-gpu-
tools/1.3-0ubuntu2.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1334475] [NEW] Touchscreen not in settings

2014-06-25 Thread Steven Basart
Public bug reported:

I cannot change the touch events in ubuntu 14.04, Dell XPS 13, intel i7
and 64 bit, it's not present in settings under mouse and touchpad nor
elsewhere for that matter. Single touch events are handled as mouse
clicks and four touch events open up the search. Two finger touch
events do not seem to do anything.
