see the problem. In the meantime, I did try to collect some additional info as
suggested - here are the results:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1321351] Re: Mouse randomly starts moving and clicking

2014-06-30 Thread Elijah Lynn
Hi Chris,

I cannot confirm it happens on Windows but the reports here are all
Windows based = https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/W-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops
/Phantom-touches-on-W510/td-p/288682

It is the same exact phenomenon that is happening on Ubuntu 13.04. I am
upgrading to 14.04 this weekend so maybe that will help. I will post
back if it does.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1293314] Re: Severe performance regression with xserver 1.15

2014-06-30 Thread luke
Yes, it can be. As of now performance has totally and completely
recovered. Most of it was the SDL changes that were so helpful in DRI3 X
servers, and a few other optimizations seem to have come down the pike.
Yesterday I saw framerates in both games as high as anything I have ever
seen

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 562005] Re: Backlight controls of laptops with NVIDIA NVS and Quadro FX 880M GPUs no longer function while using proprietary drivers

2014-06-30 Thread Martin Spacek
For my future reference, and possibly others:

After installing Xubuntu 14.04 on my Thinkpad W510, generating
/etc/X11/xorg.conf with nvidia-settings and adding the
EnableBrightnessControl line to the Devices section and rebooting did
not work (it worked in Xubuntu 12.10). Instead, I had to create a
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-nvidia-brightness.conf file and add the
Devices section to that. It's described in this blog post:

http://blog.pearce.org.nz/2012/08/enabling-external-monitor-on-
lenovo.html

You should probably change the BoardName to whatever it is for your
system (mine is Quadro FX 880M).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1335951] [NEW] Touchpad unresponsive

2014-06-30 Thread Okeefe
Public bug reported:

Laptop Model: ASUS K55N-DS81
Touchpad: stock
Ubuntu Version: 14.04 LTS

This problem first began happening a few months ago when operating on
13.10, but was temporarily resolved with an external mouse. I was hoping
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS would fix this bug, but it did not. When I inputted the
following command in the terminal:

cat /proc/bus/input/devices

no mention of the touchpad driver was found. When I attempted to install
touchpad drivers, everything was up to date, but my there was no
recognition of the touchpad.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1335951] Re: Touchpad unresponsive

2014-06-30 Thread Cristian Aravena Romero
Could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains,
could you please run the following command in the development release
from a terminal, as it will automatically gather and attach updated
debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

If reproducible, could you also please test the latest upstream kernel
available from the very top line at the top of the page (not the daily folder)
following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you
tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-3.16-rc3

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1336086] [NEW] SynapticsTouch Pad V 1.03U3 not recognized as a touchpad

2014-06-30 Thread Eddie
Public bug reported:

I have a new HP Pavilion Split X2. The system recognizes the existence
of the touchpad, in that I can use it, but it doesnt' give me any
touchpad features (most specifically, I really want to be able to turn
it off while typing so that my palm isn't making me skip all around all
the time.

This is a fresh install of 14.04, fully up to date.

xinput list

Trying to use synclient in any way gives me:

Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded?

I've tried installing touchpad-indicator, but it seems to crash on
trying to do anything. I've tried installing Pointing Devices, but it
too seem to not do anything (though it recognizes the SynapticsTouch
Pad V 1.03U3).

Version: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 1.7.4-0ubuntu1
Fresh install Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

What I expected to happen was that my touchpad would be recognized as a
touchpad--what happened was that it seems to be recognized as a mouse? There
are no touchpad options.

I'll try to send the apport information if I can manage to do it right...

I just tried updating the kernel in hopes that it would be fixed in
3.14.0-031400-generic, but that seems to have changed nothing.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1335850] Re: Mouse Double Clicks on Single Click

2014-06-30 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Eugen Paraschiv, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
As per
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/latitude-e5530/drivers
an update to your BIOS is available (A13). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything? If it
doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of
the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report. As well, you don't have to create a new
bug report.

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1336086] Re: SynapticsTouch Pad V 1.03U3 not recognized as a touchpad

2014-06-30 Thread Eddie
And just for more information:

This laptop has a touchscreen. I believe that's what id=9 is, the touchscreen,
which works fine.
id=10 is labeled as SynapticsTouch Pad V 1.03U3, but I'm wondering if it should
be some kind of ELAN touchpad?
