it would help to see dmesg and /var/log/Xorg.0.log right after
reproducing the problem (by accessing the machine through SSH).

2014-07-08 Thread Alberto Milone
the only error relevant to fglrx that I can see is the following and
happens when suspending:

[ 151.460770] <3>[fglrx:firegl_pplib_notify_event] *ERROR* PPLIB: PPLib Notify
Event failed!
[ 151.460772] <3>[fglrx:firegl_pplib_notify_event] *ERROR*ulEventType

I'm not familiar with AMD's proprietary code though, so I'm not sure
what's going on here.

Note that even if you get the exact same messages, they might not be
caused by the same problem for you as for Anton. It's probably better if
you file your own bug. Either way though, please attach the full
Xorg.0.log file and the output of glxinfo and dmesg.

BTW, both of you might also want to try the r300g driver from a current
Mesa release if you haven't already.

Couple of more updates.
1. I tried booting from USB stick of the daily build. But in that case, the

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1339286] Crash report cannot be processed

2014-07-08 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate a useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

no debug symbol package found for libbz2-1.0

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1326048] Re: Xubuntu 14.04 screen flickers (VGA: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07))

2014-07-08 Thread Ward Edwards
I am having the same issue. One workaround I have found is that if I
change the resolution to 800x600, hit apply and then revert to original
settings, the flicker goes away. When booting it starts as soon as the
splash screen starts. If i915.modeset=0 is set in grub it eliminates it
but disables the ability to change screen brightness.
