[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1332489] Re: [Dell Inspiron 5547] AMD Radeon R7 M260 [1002:6900] Unable to resume from suspend with fglrx

2014-08-10 Thread Radio
I had the very same probem on a Toshiba Satellite L50-B-166 that has the
same GPU.

I've installed the beta driver as suggested in #3 and the problem seems
to be fixed now (just suspended and resumed successfully).

Note that to install that driver I needed to switch to the AMD adapter
via amdcccle and reboot otherwise the installer believed no supported
GPU were present.

I'd say fixed upstream.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1354828] [NEW] When using touchpad Ubuntu freezes

2014-08-10 Thread Imri Paloja
Public bug reported:

First incounter - i was working with firefox(tested later on chrome and
ubuntu in general.), when the system froze.

This is a new laptop - no hardware issues. Also put in a HDD with Win8
on it, tested the touchpad and no freeze. Also under Windows i used
PassMark to stress test it, for about an hour, to see if it would
freeze. No errors. While under Ubuntu the system just hangs everytime i
use the touchpad.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.

2014-08-10 Thread Andrew Voumard
Hi,

I made a comment some time ago on what fixed this for me in comment
#790:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-
intel/+bug/993187/comments/790

Since then, although it has been pretty stable under
3.4.0-030400.201205210521, I was still getting [albeit less frequently]
complete freezups that show exactly the same symptoms as I reported
before.

The following NEW FIX has in contrast been COMPLETELY ROCK SOLID [not a
single crash yet] in so far as no hardware freezeups are concerned, and
I have been hammering the video display on the main KDE login session. I
am also remotely accessing that session through x11vnc, and also run 2
separate NX sessions in the background, all of which are very busy
used interactively. When I used to try running 2 busy NX sessions + an
x11vnc session on the main KDE login session, it would not take too long
for a complete hardware lockup to occur - within an hour easily with 2
busy NX sessions [I only had good stability with the one x11vnc session
to the main KDE desktop under 12.04.x LTS]. I am also running virtualbox
guests in the NX and x11vnc sessions [Note that I have 32GB memory so
it's viable to run lots of sessions virtualbox guests].

The FIX is quite simply: upgrade from Kubuntu 12.04.5 LTS - 14.04.1 LTS
(note that as of right now, if you upgrade to 14.04, you will in fact be
taken to 14.04.1.

Hope this may help others.

Thanks
Andrew

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1354841] [NEW] Screen corruption (characters are drawn as black squares)

2014-08-10 Thread M
Public bug reported:

Sometimes, the characters are rendered as black squares (cf attachment). I
couldn't find any event in the systems logs that could explain that.
I can stop the bug by changing the anti-aliasing options in the system
settings (enabled / disabled, level of hinting) and restarting the
applications, but the squares can come back later on, and I have to repeat the
operation.

The bug almost exclusively happens with firefox and thunderbird, though
krunner is also affected (but not other kde apps). I'm not using many
GTK applications, but I can also see the bug with unison.

It used to happen in 13.10 as well, and upgrading to 14.04.1 hasn't
improved the situation

2014-08-10 Thread teo1978
This keeps happening (after several reboots). The freezes seem to always
occur at a mouse click.

How often the freezes happen seems to be apparently random. I have
experienced three freezes within very few minutes, and have also been
more than half an hour without freezes.

This is huge and has started happening just when I switched to NVidia
drivers. Please anybody report this to the appropriate people at NVidia,
this needs urgent attention.

The part where the plugging the external monitor causes an unrecoverable
freeze is not systematic.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1346641] Re: Mobility X700 graphic corruption

2014-08-10 Thread Brandon
apport information

** Description changed:

thank you for helping me. I love ubuntu and i resently got this pc. its
old but it works well with the proper drivers unfortunaly I need a
sertain driver in order for my cpu and my graphics card to work
properly. im using a transport x3100 mpc. my driver is the Mobility
Radeon X700. im using the amd catalyst and it seems pretty glitched out.
also with out the proper driver it won't work. ive used the regular
driver in witch came with xubuntu but on start up sometimes gets really
screwy. done countless reserch and no cigar. thank you.
