[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1372409] Re: The monitor won't wake up after going to sleep (initiated by locking, automatic or manual)
** Description changed: I am using the 3.16.3 kernel and Mesa/drivers/Xorg from the Oibaf PPA - but this also happens when using drivers from the regular repositories. I can leave the computer to lock itself, or lock it by pressing Ctrl+Alt+L, and it power off the monitor after a few seconds (blue LED turns yellow), and then if I wait a minute - I will not be able to wake it up by moving the mouse or pressing any key. Switching to a TTY doesn't work either, but the keyboard is responding (can turn caps lock on/off). I have to restart the computer to get it in a working state after this happens. I would say that this bug is SEVERE, because you can lose important work. On proprietary AMD drivers (fglrx) - this works. Also, it worked on the 3.13 kernel (default) - - graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 7790 - - monitor: HP ZR2330w + EDIT: interestingly enough, suspending and resuming works fine. Only + switching off the monitor doesn't. I will try another monitor model + tomorrow and report back - but since the monitor works with other + drivers I don't think the monitor is causing these issues. + + - graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 7790 + - monitor: HP ZR2330w ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+1ubuntu8 Uname: Linux 3.16.3-031603-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: - + ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.4 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: [core, composite, opengl, compiztoolbox, decor, vpswitch, snap, mousepoll, resize, place, move, wall, grid, regex, imgpng, session, gnomecompat, animation, fade, staticswitcher, workarounds, scale, expo, ezoom, dbus] CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Mon Sep 22 13:07:00 2014 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: trusty DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: I just need to know a workaround GraphicsCard: - Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1372425] Re: XTerm CJK punctuation width not correct.
** Description changed: I'm not fluent in English but I'll try my best to describe. I'm using Xubuntu 14.04, and recently came upon this issue using text editors in xterm. Sometimes the the width of Chinese full-width comma ',' is not correctly displayed(shortened), resulting in charaters 'overlapping'. See the 'overlapping' effect at: http://i.imgur.com/G0Qxi40.png See the shortened full width comma at: http://i.imgur.com/Tf2k92W.png Note that the first line shows 'shortened' full-width comma, second and third line show the normal full-width comma. -- Step to reproduce in Xubuntu 14.04: 1. Make sure you have these packages installed: 'xterm', 'nano', 'fonts-wqy-zenhei'; 2. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1372409] [NEW] The monitor won't wake up after going to sleep (initiated by locking, automatic or manual)
Public bug reported: I am using the 3.16.3 kernel and Mesa/drivers/Xorg from the Oibaf PPA - but this also happens when using drivers from the regular repositories. Also, it worked on the 3.13 kernel (default) - graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 7790 - monitor: HP ZR2330w ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+1ubuntu8 Uname: Linux 3.16.3-031603-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.4 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: [core, composite, opengl, compiztoolbox, decor, vpswitch, snap, mousepoll, resize, place, move, wall, grid, regex, imgpng, session, gnomecompat, animation, fade, staticswitcher, workarounds, scale, expo, ezoom, dbus] CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Mon Sep 22 13:07:00 2014 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: trusty DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: I just need to know a workaround GraphicsCard: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1314367] Re: Flickering with Ubuntu 14.04 and nvidia card reappeared
The workaround of changing the settings "Force full screen redraws (buffer swap) on repaint" through CCSM, seems to help resolve the issue for me. I am running Ubuntu 14.04 with NVIDIA 340.32.
