[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 269904] Re: Screen refresh problems with nvidia cards

2014-10-02 Thread Kiva Laatikko
I suddenly started to experience this bug when I updated my NVIDIA
drivers from NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-331.79 to = 340. The only workaround
I've found is:

CCSM - Utility - Workarounds - Force complete redraw on initial damage -
check (not sure if this helps)
CCSM - Utility - Workarounds - Force full screen redraws (buffer swap) on
repaint - check

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1376687] [NEW] Google Chrome crashes in i965_dri.so

2014-10-02 Thread Kostya Vasilyev
Public bug reported:

Since installing the Ubuntu 14.10 beta update, I see Google Chrome crash
on startup.

This happens about 1/3 of the time.

The issue doesn't exist with same Chrome version, on same hardware, in
Fedora 20 -- and did not exist prior to updating to Ubuntu 14.10 beta
(i.e. 14.04).

There have been a few large Ubuntu updates since I installed the beta,
but the issue continues to happen.

Hardware: Intel 4770 with built-in video, dual monitor, 16 GB RAM, SSDs,
64-bit mode.

Software: XUbuntu

A detailed crash report is attached.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1376760] [NEW] after a screen rotation we get a double mouse pointer

2014-10-02 Thread Nicolas Produit
Public bug reported:

On ubuntu version 14.10
after a screen rotation when we come back to normal rotation our mouse pointer
is doubled: the old
rotated one and the actual one.
This bug was already reported in:

with a complete solution.
I checked that code compiled for 14.10 does not contain the fix in file:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1367870] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 system with Radeon HD 6330M hangs regularly, especially when using Google Chrome

2014-10-02 Thread Pieroxy
It seems to me that this problem appears much more frequently with
Chrome, but I've had it also with Firefox. It's only been a couple of
weeks though, everything has always worked fine for me until a system
update two weeks ago. I have a Radeon HD 4350/4550.

To speak very bluntly, it makes Ubuntu almost unusable for me with at
least one Xorg freeze per day when I don't use Chrome - with Chrome it
more like a freeze per hour of usage.

The ata timeout seems to be recovered. but after first falling back to a
textual console, I ended with something that is random colourful garbage
on screen. Serial console and ssh, still up. So this might be a
completely different failure caused by me using glmark2 (which I had not
before). And with the initial case(s) the lockup was complete and ssh
would not work anymore.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1375652] Re: [Utopic] nouveau flush timeout lockups

2014-10-02 Thread Stefan Bader
Ok, so the same happens when running a glmark2 loop with a 3.13 kernel.
So not related to the problem I initially had. I would say that was
quicker to trigger and seems to be gone with the latest kernels in
Utopic.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1367870] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 system with Radeon HD 6330M hangs regularly, especially when using Google Chrome

2014-10-02 Thread Lucas Partridge
@Pieroxy - have you tried the proprietary AMD drivers instead? I'm fed
up with system hangs too, so if the proprietary drivers don't work
better I may even go back to ubuntu 12.04 where I didn't have these
problems. Too early to judge the proprietary driver though; I've only
just switched from the open source one.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1376903] [NEW] Caps lock delay

2014-10-02 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I'm having a problem with Ubuntu, to be precise I have problem with its CAPS
LOCK DELAY.
I have a habit to use caps lock when I need a capital letter in my sentence,
but problem is that I changing Caps lock in Ubuntu is slow, so I end up with
sentence like this:

 - THis is a test. CAn you see how the first two letters are capital.
THis happens only on UBuntu, not on my WIndows!

Instead of holding shift like a normal person to capitalize my works, I
hit Caps Lock, then hit the letter, then hit Caps Lock again. I know
this is a strange habit, but I tried to change it to use Shift but I
just can't. I want to contiunue using Caps lock, but the delay on Ubuntu
is causing to have two capital letters in one word, and that is a
problem, specially if you are typing very fast (like I). In 5 out of 10
cases I enter my password wrong beacuse of this delay.

I'm guessing this may have somthing with X org or something.
IS there a fix?

If not, this should be reported as a BUG!

nvidia-304 from proposed boots and runs on my test hardware (6150SE and

since I haven't experienced any of them.

I will put some users on this tomorrow and see how it goes. Thanks for
