[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1401839] Re: Nvidia 820M operating in a high temperature
I've updated my BIOS to A05 following the procedure "Upgrading with a FreeDOS USB drive" that can be found here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DellBIOS. The update process worked like a charm. After update the BIOS, I ran some tests on the same game. The temperature is ranging from 83 to 86 with the peak at 91 degrees Celsius (°C). I cannot say (yet) if the BIOS update has decrease the temperature, because (as you can see on the description of this bug) I did an nvidia driver upgrade that helped the temperature to decrease. In other words, I need to perform more tests to check if the BIOS update has helped or not. I'm working now, but this night I'll perform more tests. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1401434] Re: Desktop is distorted after update to 331.113
BIOS was upgraded: $ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date 8BET62WW (1.42 ) 07/26/2013 However, that did not change anything. With 331.113 the same problem exists. I have also made tests with docking station and two external displays. The results: 1. LightDM login screen is OK 2. Dual monitors from docking station with laptop screen turned off: OK 3. Three monitors from docking station with laptop screen turned on: FAIL Laptop screen is turned on, but is black. Cursor can be seen on it, i.e. mouse can move to laptop screen, but windows cannot be dragged and icons (i.e. X desktop begins at) are on second display. Screenshot is also attached. 4. Reverted to 331.38: three monitor setup is OK. Attachments will follow. ** Attachment added: "01-LightDM-looks-OK.jpg" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1401434/+attachment/4281454/+files/01-LightDM-looks-OK.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1401434 Title: Desktop is distorted after update to 331.113 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1401434/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1402551] Re: High memory usage of Xorg and kwin after Xorg security updates [nvidia]
Same behaviour regards increased memory usage of Xorg and kwin up to around 300 MB observed in kubuntu 14.10 (utopic). Not causing any slowness at present though. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1402551 Title: High memory usage of Xorg and kwin after Xorg security updates [nvidia] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-304-updates/+bug/1402551/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1402551] [NEW] High memory usage of Xorg and kwin after Xorg security updates [nvidia]
Public bug reported: Hello, since the Xorg/nvidia security updates last week, I encounter a problem with growing Xorg and kwin memory usage. In one hour the memory consumption is at Xorg ~ 270 MiB and at kwin: 300 MB , so the system responds slowly and scrolling is very slow in in dolphin, kwrite, firefox, etc. After several hours the system is so slow, that only a restart helps, and then the growing of memory starts again. *** My Tests; I tried several nvidia drivers, but without success (from: https://launchpad.net/~xorg- edgers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+index?field.series_filter=precise) 304.125-0ubuntu0.0.1~xedgers12.04.1 331.113-0ubuntu0.0.1~xedgers12.04.1 346.22-0ubuntu1~xedgers12.04.1 (With purging each nvidia driver and fresh installing it) *** My configuration; Two Kubuntu 12.04.5 PCs with a nvidia card; nvidia driver 331.113-0ubuntu0.0.0.3 and 304.125-0ubuntu0.0.0.1 One pc with the Trusty Xstack (HWE) with Trusty kernel (3.13.0-43.72~precise1) and the other one with the stock kernel (3.2.0-74-generic #109) and stock xstack. I use one pc in my office, so it disturbs my work because of the slowness and restarts. Thank you for your help! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1268151] Re: [Dell M4800] DPMS support broken, fails to wake up the monitor after putting it to sleep
It appears that sometimes, nvidia is losing the *display* information. (II) NVIDIA(0): Setting mode "NULL" I can recover my display by running xrandr --auto Note: this may not work when you are logged into the console - you may want to use something like "sleep 3; xrandr --auto" and then switch via Ctrl+Alt+F7 within three seconds. I usually login from a remote machine. It happens about once a month for me. :-( -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1268151 Title: [Dell M4800] DPMS support broken, fails to wake up the monitor after putting it to sleep To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1268151/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
