[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1405090] [NEW] Broken Cursor with Dual Screen setup ATI Radeon HD 5000/6000/7350 Series
Public bug reported: This is very possible necromancy/a dublicate of Bug #360724. Without any recognizeable pattern the cursor corrupts on the first of my dual screen setup. Sometimes it is copped up vertically, sometimes the cursor is reduced to a thin line. This is independent from the cursor theme/style. Taking screenshots is not possible, the mousecursor appears ok in the pictures. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1386721] Re: Graphics Slow After Upgrade 14.04 - 14.10
Same thing on the HP's Chromebook 14 on Intel, on the latest kernels (3.17-3.18). It happens after couple of hours of work or moments with high CPU load. Bug brings slow redrawing in Opera (presto) and Chromium, but Firefox refreshing stays smooth. Also, appears a high CPU consumption by XOrg, when browsers are opened. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1386721 Title: Graphics Slow After Upgrade 14.04 - 14.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1386721/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1405118] [NEW] Keyboard layout changes randomly for no reason
Public bug reported: This problem has occurred ever since I installed Ubuntu on this machine, I installed 14.04, and even though I have upgraded to 14.10, the problem still persists. Even though I have gone into the Text entry settings, and deleted English (US) from their. It will still at random times change from what I want it to be English (UK), to English (US) keyboard layout. And when this has happened I have looked in the settings to see which of the keyboard layouts is selected, and even though it is clear that it has somehow changed to English (US), it still says it is English (UK). Thanks for looking in to this - please note however that about 3 weeks ago I noticed that the touchpad had got a lot better (I'd been using a mouse since the issue). checking again today - it seems to be fine, so not sure if a kernel update or other has fixed the issue. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1308105] Re: Xfce resets TV mode to NULL when power cycled
Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me out on this. I would like to apply the patch, but have very little ubuntu knowledge. I am running ubuntu 14.04 and have found I get this problem. The workaround in #22 works for me, but makes the fonts hard to read. This is why I would like to use Alexander's patch. However, I am not sure how to do it. I checked my system for xfsettingsd and displays.c but could not find either sudo . -name displays.c -print returns nothing (run from the root dir) I assume that if I can find displays.c all I need to do is go to that directory and do: patch {patchname} Any/All help appreciated. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1308105 Title: Xfce resets TV mode to NULL when power cycled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mythbuntu/+bug/1308105/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1386774] Re: Synaptics touchpad and IBM trackpoint incompletely detected
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ubuntu ** Description changed: In 14.04 with the 3.13.0-36 kernel, the touchpad and trackpoint on my Lenovo ThinkPad T410s function properly. On upgrade to the 3.13.0-37 kernel, KDE's system admin module says there is no touchpad, though the touchpad and trackpoint function purely as mice. No scrolling withthe touchpad, no possibility of configuring the touch pad to disable tap while typing. These problems persist with 14.10 and the 3.16-23 kernel. I tried the 3.18.0-031800rc1 kernel. It made the laptop incredibly slow, but did reproduce the problem that kde's admin module does not see the touchpad. (The rc2 kernel available today would not install because of a dependency on a non-existent package (a header package for rc2 with no all, amd64, or i386 suffix). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1405300] [NEW] Tri-Monitor Mouse Flickering in 14.10, not working at all in 14.04
Public bug reported: I have a tri-monitor setup, two monitors going off of a GPU (Nvidia GTX 650 TI Boost Edition, MSI version so overclocked) and the third going off of Integrated Graphics on my 4670k intel CPU. On the two monitors using the GPU, the mouse has terrible flashing and flickering, and sometimes it sometimes completely disappears. However, on the monitor using the Intel Integrated graphics, it works fine and I have no problems. I've done some testing, and on 14.04 the entirety of X server works for a bit, then crashes completely after a few minutes (sometimes gives GPU lockup errors after waiting for a while). On 14.10 it is stable enough to use, but the mouse flickers terribly like I just talked about. This same problem has been mentioned here (http://askubuntu.com/questions/450655/mouse-flickering-on-one-of-my- two-screens). The proprietary Nvidia drivers aren't exactly an option at the moment, as they won't allow me to use the intel GPU for the third monitor. Some research I've done seems to indicate it's a bug in X server or the Nouveau drivers. My xrandr output is included in the attachment. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1386774] Re: Synaptics touchpad and IBM trackpoint incompletely detected
apport information ** Description changed: In 14.04 with the 3.13.0-36 kernel, the touchpad and trackpoint on my Lenovo ThinkPad T410s function properly. I have run cat /proc/input/devices for both the 3.18 and 3.13.0-36 kernels. The 13 kernel detects it as SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad, while the 18 kernel detects it as PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad. However the 13 kernel detects a separate IBM Trackpoint device, which the 18 kernel does not list, even though the track point does function as a mouse with the 18 kernel. xinput --list with the 13 kernel shows Virtual core pointer id=2[master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointerid=4[slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPadid=11 [slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint id=12 [slave pointer (2)] with the 16 kernel it shows ⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2[master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointerid=4[slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad id=11 [slave pointer (2)] The most relevant-looking lines of Xorg.0.log are, with the 16 kernel, the single InputClass line [11.702] (**) PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: Applying InputClass evdev pointer catchall and, with the 13 kernel, the lines 17.820] (**) SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: Applying InputClass evdev touchpad catchall [17.820] (**) SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: Applying InputClass touchpad catchall [17.820] (**) SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: Applying InputClass Default clickpad buttons [17.820] (**) SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad: Applying InputClass Touchpad Also, with the 13 kernel, [ 17.821] (II) Using input driver 'synaptics' for 'SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad' while with the 16 kenrel, [ 11.703] (II) Using input driver 'evdev' for 'PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad' I will try to attach the six files. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1386774] Re: Synaptics touchpad and IBM trackpoint incompletely detected
Sorry, without thinking I ran the apport-collect on my desktop, not on the laptop that has the problem with the touchpad. I've not run it on the laptop, with the latest kernel. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1364630] Re: init: Error while reading from descriptor: Broken pipe
Most of this is way over my head. Man, do I envy and admire all you who are light years ahead of this 59 yr. old who never touched a computer until a few yrears ago. I'm posting this for the many newbie users out there like me. I too was getting the init: Error while reading from descriptor: Broken pipe error in Lubuntu 14.10 with Nvidia GE 7300 Force using the recommended Nvidia 304 drivers (I got the error most of the time- but not always- although the boot always completed and I was always able to use the machine with no other errors). It just bugged me enough to start researching the error. I've read all the posts above and I'm really confused now. From the posts it seems the concensus is that its not necessarily Nvidia-related, but I decided anyhow to revert back to the basic Nouveau drivers...just for giggles and kicks the error is no more, and Lubuntu still seems to be flawless. Hmmm. Maybe this will help someone who gets the error and can't even get their machine to boot. Worth a try. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1364630 Title: init: Error while reading from descriptor: Broken pipe To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/upstart/+bug/1364630/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1405325] [NEW] [I+N] Split screen after setting the monitors configuration to extended
Public bug reported: Steps: 1. Install trusty image and log in to system 2. Connect an external DP monitor. 3. Press the display hot key to change the monitors configuration Actual result: Split screen after set the monitors configuration to extended mode. Expected result: The video signal can be mirrored, extended, displayed on external or onboard only. [Analysis from NVIDIA] I tracked down the culprit to an Ubuntu patch applied to xf86-video-intel 2.99.910: patches/10-handle-rotated-slaves.diff. That patch is a cherry-pick of upstream commit a45b2ea11c15f35c36330ff27cb45854a29c2e2c. The Ubuntu version of the patch is significantly different from the upstream commit, so somebody must have done quite a bit of porting. Either they messed it up during porting, or they missed cherry-picking another upstream commit that fixes the problem. It looks like what's happening is that the Intel driver is applying the RandR CRTC offset even though it's actually scanning out from a CRTC- sized private scanout buffer. Since it's a linear buffer, this shifts all of the lines over by however many pixels the CRTC offset is set to, wrapping lines around in the process. ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New ** Attachment added: screenshot of the issue https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1405325/+attachment/4286777/+files/IMG_20141208_141739.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1405325 Title: [I+N] Split screen after setting the monitors configuration to extended To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1405325/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
