[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1405118] Re: Keyboard layout changes randomly for no reason
Well it keeps on randomly changing, and this means that I might be writing an email and I am putting in an at symbol, and I put in the at symbol using the key on my keyboard with the at symbol picture on it. And my keyboard layout is set so that pressing that key will give me that at symbol. But 5 minutes later the keyboard layout may have changed to US (from UK) and when I press the key which should give me that at symbol, I get a double-quote. And sometimes it will change back, and sometimes it won't for a few hours. Sometimes it is after a restart, sometimes not. And it is not just the at symbol changing to the double-quote symbol, but it is true for every key that changes with the new keyboard layout. And in the menu for changing languages it still shows English (UK) so I cannot even manually change it back. This is just something which is really annoying. And it becomes impossible to touch-type because I don't know which symbol key will give me which symbol. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1405118 Title: Keyboard layout changes randomly for no reason To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1405118/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1407763] [NEW] System crash Xubuntu 14.10 on i5-3337U CPU
Public bug reported: System is not running stable, it crashes (freezes) sooner or later. Sometimes with virtual console on screen, saying “not syncing: fatal exception in interrupt drm_kms_helper:: panic occurred, switching back to text console” - sometimes without console appearing. No more input possible (no sysrq), just hard reset. Apparently this is caused by i915 driver. It always happens with applications with a bit higher graphics performance requirements, e.g. watching DVB-T-TV in a little me-tv- or vlc-window and browsing the Internet at the same time. Initially core temperature and fan speed rise, and then follows the exitus follows. Same experience on Xubuntu 14.04 and Kubuntu 14.04. The reason why i file this against Utopic is that i have altered my Trusty-Systems with Intel Drivers from 01.org (see below). The following attempts did not improve the thing: Trying “Intel Graphics Installer” from 01.org 1.0.7 within the Trusty Systems. Trying (alone and with Intel Drivers) Mainline Kernel 3.18.1. But of course initally with regular Utopic 3.16. It may be of interest that on the very same machine the OS “Siduction” (Debian Unstable Rolling Release) runs without any problems or concerns (currently Kernel 3.18 and xorg-packages from Debian Sid branch). The computer is the Asus Vivopc VM-60, CPU i5-3337U. ~$ lspci -nnk | grep -i vga -A2 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [8086:0166] (rev 09) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
