[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1350985] Re: After Attaching Display to Sleeping Laptop and Waking it, Login Manager Crashes
Peter Novotnak, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal: cd /var/crash sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. If you run the command against the crash report and a window pops up asking you to report this, but then never opens a new report, you would be affected by https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921 . In order to WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line: sudo nano /etc/apport/crashdb.conf and comment out the line: 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], by changing it to: # 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via: ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Please feel free to subscribe me to this new report. Also, please do not attach your crash report manually to this report and reopen it. Thank you for your understanding. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1424390] [NEW] Wallpaper Animation Ability - Feature Request
Public bug reported: I think that it would be really useful if when for instance when setting a .gif file as your desktop, for it to actually animate it as the .gif file is animated. Because otherwise I find that you have to use third- party utilities to make a Live Desktop possible. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1424404] [NEW] 14.04 won't boot after installing Nvidia 173 package
Public bug reported: I never thought I said this but I'm really glad to have windows installed on my PC!! It saved my butt after upgrading the Nvidia package form version 30 to 173 on Ubuntu 14.04. I've got a GrForce GT 610 installed. Installation warned that package Nvidia 30 and some other would be removed. Perssing OK hs been the worst decission in my life the last 10 minutes. Ubuntu doesn't boot anymore, not even in recovery mode of the latest release (.45) nor of a previous release (.39) which I keep just in case... Just in this case, to no purpose. Fortunately, I can start up on Windows and data files are shared. SO, thanks Bill Gates, but now I need some back up O.S. for when Windows will screw it sooner or later. Does anybody know what can I do to get my Ubuntu back to live with no new-from-scratch installation? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1305264] Re: Incorrect display when using monitor on the left on NVIDIA Optimus Card
With a new BIOS: G5ETA1WW (2.61 ) 01/22/2015 The system freezes after boot at a login screen. The only option to get it booted is to go to a BIOS settings and modify settings in a way that an integrated card is used, and the BIOS doesn't report an Optimus Card to an operating system. Technically I cannot reproduce the issue, but that's due to the fact that I cannot go past the login screen. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1305264 Title: Incorrect display when using monitor on the left on NVIDIA Optimus Card To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1305264/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1359539] Re: Problem with Burmese characters disapearing
Ben Sharon, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1359539 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. As well, given the information from the prior release is already available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. nail ater, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. The behavior you expected, and 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thank you for your understanding. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1360438 Title: NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1360438/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1359117] Re: lightdm and xorg fails to start after kernel update, voltage errors
Pavel Nazarov, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-3.XY-rcZ Where XY and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-3.XY-rcZ Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. ashwin kumar, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make Ubuntu better. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-0071 ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1359878 Title: good To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1359878/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1305264] Re: Incorrect display when using monitor on the left on NVIDIA Optimus Card
I did use Live Ubuntu booted from a USB Drive. I have configured BIOS in my computer to report Optimus and to use Nvidia Optimus technology. I was able to boot into the system. I have installed recommended Nvidia Drivers, and restarted the computer. The issue more or less exists, however now it manifests itself in a different way. The image is stretched and mouse misses the point where I want to click, yielding the system unusable. Please see attachment. In the example I was trying to click on the window Does the display look okay? to drag it, however instead, on a second monitor, selection started to appear (see right side of the screenshot). This behaviour makes it impossible to click on anything (ignoring the fact, that the look of UI prevents you from using the system anyway), the only way to operate the system is to use keyboard (the system responds to tab and enter in a proper way). Additionally now this happens even, if the external monitor is virtually placed on the right side of a primary display. When the external display is not in use, the system behaves more or less okay. ** Attachment added: stretched.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1305264/+attachment/4325028/+files/stretched.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1305264 Title: Incorrect display when using monitor on the left on NVIDIA Optimus Card To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1305264/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1362391] Re: A message is shown on desktop that system problem detected
aman, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1363070 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. As well, given the information from the prior release is already available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1305264] Re: Incorrect display when using monitor on the left on NVIDIA Optimus Card
I have installed NVIDIA 340.76. On Nouveau it doesn't happen this way, but Nouveau is a different story. There I have some sort of artefacts, the system is overall very slow, and mouse pointer is blinking. I don't know if this happened prior to Trusty, I was using card in a discrete mode back then (BIOS setting), and I have disabled Optimus reporting to an operating system. When I disable it, and run in discrete mode now, it works more or less okay, with an exception of random freezes at boot time (normally if it boots it doesn't freeze later), and freezes on for example keyboard actions modifying brightness. However I think this is a different problem, as it only exists if I'm running discrete mode with optimus reporting disabled. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1305264 Title: Incorrect display when using monitor on the left on NVIDIA Optimus Card To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1305264/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1412730] Re: DELL U2415 monitor detection issues
Connecting via HDMI rather than displayport has completely solved the waking issue for me (so far, at least). The monitor consistently wakes from sleep in the same configuration that I was using before suspending. Monitor settings are still not persistent across reboots, but this seems to be a more general issue that can be fixed via an appropriate startup script. I have seen some reports of the U2415 having some problems with daisy- chaining via displayport and that Dell is giving people the runaround. Sounds like there is some flaw with the displayport, so perhaps we're seeing another effect of that. Will report back in case anything changes. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1412730 Title: DELL U2415 monitor detection issues To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1412730/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-207 ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1376123 Title: cannot change screeen resolution too big for screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1376123/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1220426] Re: [nvidia-prime]Freeze while using touchpad
Sorry, not sure why the debdiff wasn't added directly to the previous comment. The debdiff in question was added as a patch and is titled debdiff from xorg-server_1.16.2.901-1ubuntu4 Also the first line of the changelog in the previous comment should start with xorg-server not org-server. It's correct in the debdiff. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1220426 Title: [nvidia-prime]Freeze while using touchpad To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xorg-server/+bug/1220426/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
