[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1377872]
Digging in the kernel, there's some suspicious logic in the i915 driver (used by Mesa i965 etc): /* Throttle our rendering by waiting until the ring has completed our requests * emitted over 20 msec ago. * * Note that if we were to use the current jiffies each time around the loop, * we wouldn't escape the function with any frames outstanding if the time to * render a frame was over 20ms. * * This should get us reasonable parallelism between CPU and GPU but also * relatively low latency when blocking on a particular request to finish. */ static int i915_gem_ring_throttle(struct drm_device *dev, struct drm_file *file) I think that's the problem. Maybe Mir is behaving so well that a single frame doesn't fill the ring (when Mir is only double buffering). So we have to rely on the 20ms delay in the i915 kernel module that causes us to skip a frame. I'm still hoping to be wrong, and that this isn't a *feature* of the i915 kernel module. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1377872 Title: Double-buffered compositing performance is very poor (30 FPS) on intel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mesa/+bug/1377872/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1267360] Re: Can not be installed because of unresolved dependencies
This bug is still not fixed? I am running Ubuntu 14.04.2 Desktop. I installed the desktop fresh, did an apt-get dist-upgrade, and then attempted to install this package, and failed. What is the point of continuing to deliver this package, when we know it cannot be installed? Without this package being fixed, I am unable to change resolutions for my SPICE-connected console. ** Also affects: ovirt Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: spice-vdi Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-qxl in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1267360 Title: Can not be installed because of unresolved dependencies To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ovirt/+bug/1267360/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1316090] Re: Unable to drop/ place files and links on second screen in dual screen set up
Christopher, I submitted the information through apport like you asked. Since I'm not familiar with this, and it took me some install steps, I hope all went well. I also realised that with my last message, I may have followed the wrong link, hence tested the wrong versions. That is why I did the test I described in my last message again. The results are below are interesting. You can find them in the csv I attached. Since our i386 is single screen only, I was not able to test the dual screen set up performance. The ones labeled "Production" are of course our normal production machines, the installs that prompted us to file the bug report. Fed by some online reading, I'd think xfdesktop4 might be the culprit? But then again, I'm just a simple user. Just to be sure I noted the xfdesktop4 version numbers also for you. I also saw that the icon rearranging bug has also been reported with xfdesktop4 4.12 (see Bug 1335492 and 1307251). I however have not been able to reproduce it, even after 10+ reboots. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1316090] Re: Unable to drop/ place files and links on second screen in dual screen set up
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected trusty ubuntu ** Description changed: After updating from Xubuntu 13.10 (amd64) to Xubuntu 14.04 LTS (amd64) I have encountered a bug with my dual screen set up. Running the XOrg screen driver (xserver-xorg-video-nouveau), it is possible to place/ drag and drop files and links on my left screen desktop. This is also the desktop that contains the system icons (e.g. removable drives, rubbish bin). However, I I try to drag and drop a file or link on the right screen desktop, it will not "stick" and "fly back" to its original location on the left screen. Additionally, I noticed that, when dragging the file over the troubled desktop, the "placement squares" don't show up. They do on the functioning left screen. Although I have a NVIDIA Corporation GK107 [GeForce GTX 650] Geforce I do run the XOrg driver since it gives me the best results with the software I'm using frequently. However, when I tested this during my initial install of Trusty, I noticed that I did not encounter this bug with the proprietary NVidia 304.117 driver (331.38 did not work for me at all). Running the NVidia 304.117 driver, it was possible to drag and drop/ place files and links on both screen desktops. Also the "placement squares" appeared on both screens when a file was dragged over it. - After returning to the XOrg driver, the problem reoccurred, and - placement on the right screen was again not possible. + After returning to the XOrg driver, the problem reoccurred, and placement on the right screen was again not possible. + --- + ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.7 + Architecture: amd64 + CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' + CompositorRunning: None + CurrentDesktop: XFCE + DistUpgraded: Fresh install + DistroCodename: trusty + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 + DistroVariant: ubuntu + GraphicsCard: + NVIDIA Corporation GK107 [GeForce GTX 650] [10de:0fc6] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) +Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd Device [1458:3553] + InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-04-22 (323 days ago) + InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 14.04 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release amd64 (20140416.2) + LightdmGreeterLogOld: + ** (lightdm-gtk-greeter:1648): WARNING **: Error retrieving accessibility bus address: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ExecFailed: Failed to execute program /usr/lib/at-spi2-core/at-spi-bus-launcher: Success + + ** (lightdm-gtk-greeter:1648): WARNING **: Failed to run "at-spi-bus-launcher": Failed to execute child process "/usr/lib/at-spi2-core/at-spi-bus-launcher" (No such file or directory) + init: indicator-application main process (1682) terminated with status 1 + MachineType: Dell Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1430230] Re: Log flooding with warning message when using linux-lowlatency kernel
I have this exact same problem. My computer logs : WARNING: CPU: 3 PID: 659 at /build/buildd/linux-3.19.0/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_display.c:9705 intel_check_page_flip+0xa2/0xf0 [i915]() WARN_ON(!in_irq()) continually with the 3.19.0-7 and 3.19.0-8 kernels in the -lowlatency kind. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1404468] Re: German neo2 keyboard layout: no ALT and SUPER keys
Actually this seems to affect every key that is not handled directly to the target application, but indirectly (through the window-manager?), e.g. also media buttons when the associated media application window is not focused. I also seem to have stumbled over a workaround somehow: I'm using Ubuntu Gnome here, and after installing kubuntu-desktop (during installation I selected lightdm, not gdm) and starting into KDE once (there the affected buttons didn't work either), on next login the login screen changed to KDE-style (where you can choose the UI type). After logging in to Gnome again the buttons seem to work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xkeyboard-config in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1404468 Title: German neo2 keyboard layout: no ALT and SUPER keys To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xkeyboard-config/+bug/1404468/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1429974] Re: Outdated/wrong copyright/license data
Even though it was only shortly mentioned, and is not the main subject of this bug: It would also be nice if the second issue, providing a dynamically linked library similar to Debian, could be resolved (maybe even in the same step when merging with the changes from the Debian package). It would have a lot of advantages for the Wine feature we're working on right now when we could just dynamically load the library. On Debian this already works very well and avoids increasing the package size and also possible license issues. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-settings in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1429974 Title: Outdated/wrong copyright/license data To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-settings/+bug/1429974/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1300557] Re: Screen resolution no longer works
Okay, I got out of that situation with the help of the flashrom people. My BIOS is now updated. It helped a bit in that I can now define and add my resolution again using xrandr. It won't stay added though: I need to define and add it every time I boot. Otherwise, the resolution is not in the Displays settings dropdown.
