[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1432843] Re: Lubuntu failed to boot

2015-03-25 Thread Henk Terhell
I tried version 20150324.1 of i386 last night and again this failed to install.
I was able to install amd64 version of 20150324 on another PC but after
installation loading takes 2 minutes until login menu appears. In recovery
mode it shows: a start up job is running for dev-disk.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1435685] Re: [Asus X751MD] Double mouse cursor

2015-03-25 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
lecolo:
my laptop is this one...

Just to advise, your laptop model is already in the Bug Description.

There was mouse-bug using normal free driver, for intel HD (Intel
Pentium Quad Core N3540 Bay Trail-M (2.16 GHz, 4 cœurs, TDP 7.5W)
Choosing the verified Nvidia driver in the (x)ubuntu repository : no
bug.

Ok. Does the issue occur in http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-
live/current/ ?

I didn't try the unverified more recent Nvidia one.

It's not necessary to test this, as we've already narrowed down where
the issue is.

Also, this report is scoped to the double mouse cursor issue, not how your
touchpad doesn't work. If you have an issue with your touchpad, it would help
immensely if you filed a new report via a terminal:
ubuntu-bug linux

Please feel free to subscribe me to the new report.

** Summary changed:

- double mouse cursor, 64bit, fresh install
+ [Asus X751MD] Double mouse cursor

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1376903] Re: Caps lock delay

2015-03-25 Thread apavlov
This bug appears to affect all state modifiers, including the keyboard
layout switch (the 'Win' key for me). As a result, you cannot hit 'Win'
and immediately start typing in a different layout. You have to wait a
bit (which is pretty tedious, as I have to switch layouts quite often)
before typing, otherwise you get the first few letters of the word typed
in the previous layout (language). Very annoying.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1436310] [NEW] Keyboard values are delayed during installation

2015-03-25 Thread lahari
Public bug reported:

We are doing a kickstart installation of Ubuntu.
We have pre installation phase in kickstart configuration file which contains
some questions which are to be asked during installation.
But those input values are not accepted at once before installation. There is
delay sometimes in accepting the answers from keyboard.
Due to which we are getting the keys pressed for number of times sometimes.

Like if we want enter Y for YES ... Pressing y sometimes giving nothing
or sometimes gives like y due to which are scripts might be not
working.

** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-keyboard (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1382462] Re: 10de:0dfa Desktop/windows painted incorrectly in dual monitor configuration

2015-03-25 Thread CBrider
I had the same problem with a Dell M6700. The Compiz fix worked for me.
It is interesting that I had no problems when connecting to an ASUS
monitor at home. When I brought the laptop to my work desk, and
connected to a Hyundai monitor (using the same HDMI to DVI cable), the
problem would occur.

Steam broke on the second machine as well.

It wouldn't even let me install Steam. I had to remove, update, then
install again. Then, once installed, I encountered the Couldn't set up

described here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/470436/steam-cannot-set-

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1436491] [NEW] Ubuntu 14.10 desktop amd64 live CD gives no graphical desktop on MacBookPro 8, 3

2015-03-25 Thread PeterKnaggs
Public bug reported:

The Ubuntu 14.10 desktop amd64 live CD gives no graphical desktop on a Apple
MacBookPro 8,3 (A1397) 2011
(hardware described here:
http://www.penlug.org/foswiki/bin/view/Main/HardwareInfoAppleMacBookProA1297 ).

I also tested an upgrade from Ubuntu 14.04.02LTS to Ubuntu 14.10 and similarly
lost the graphical login
as xorg no longer started (only the tty terminal login prompt appeared after
reboot).

Please let me know if any further info is needed to reproduce the issue on your
side, or if you'd need me to
collect any further diagnostic info from the system, I'm a software engineer so
I should be able to follow any
instructions you provide, including compiling patches etc.

I'm somewhat surprised that xorg would stop working on the Apple MacBookPro 8,3
as it uses the
free radeon driver in Ubuntu 14.10 which has worked fine through many many
Ubuntu upgrades
on this particular machine.

To reproduce the issue: attempt to start an Apple MacBookPro 8,3 using the
Ubuntu 14.10 desktop amd64 live CD.
Notice that no graphical desktop ever appears.
Alternately, after a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04.02LTS, upgrade to 14.10, and
notice no graphical desktop, only
they tty terminal login is presented.

I've tried searching for an explanation through many launchpad bugs, but
haven't found any other reports.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1340964] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in _XSERVTransClose()

I have a problem described in bug 1434396 that is: Xserver does not
start on boot, and the low graphics mode dialog is presented instead,
though if I exit to console and start lightdm service by hand it
works. After logging in, bug report dialog on X crash appears and that
brings me to this report.

Tested a Lubuntu 15.05 32bit image in development and noticed, my
monitor would go blank during the display of the Lubuntu splash image.
Rebooted the image, and just as the splash screen appeared, pressed
ctrl+esc which makes Lubuntu output the boot activities. As it when down
the list of services it was activating, all the text on the screen
started disappearing and reappearing. Pressed ctrl+alt+f4, was brought
to a tty terminal. Logged in and typed startx. The Xserver started yet
all that appeared was an error message window and a notification. The
rest of the screen was black.

Freedesktop hosts a ton of projects, so you need to set the right

values should be set: http://www.x.org/wiki/

In this case, it was simply xorg.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1436590] [NEW] Switching from the TTY7 to a different TTY, causes Xorg crash

2015-03-25 Thread madmaze
Public bug reported:

- start ubuntu 15.04 and log in
- use CTRL+AL+F2 to switch to TTY2. (or a different TTY)
- Watch the screen glitch: http://youtu.be/MqPi5dURZ8s
- sometimes it's so bad it will not recover and the computer needs to be
forcefully rebooted.

I should note this is on the newst generation Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen 3)

It generates this in dmesg:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 277915] Re: XBox 360 Controller Automatically becomes mouse in Xorg

2015-03-25 Thread Jason
Are you sure this is fixed, because I'm on Xubuntu 14.04 and this still
happens. It locked the cursor to the top of the screen and made all my
programs permanently 90% transparent. Removing xserver-xorg-input-
joystick has no effect.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1432843] Re: Lubuntu failed to boot

2015-03-25 Thread Henk Terhell
Not only this problem, but I also crashed a third L15.04 installation
(i386) after update. This update causes the system not being able to
restart or shut off, not even in terminal mode with commands halt,
shutdown or poweroff. After a hardware shutdown the system no longer
boots upon selection in grub.
