[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1432843] Re: Lubuntu failed to boot

2015-04-13 Thread Walter Lapchynski
You guys that do have this bug should update the bug description so that
it includes the following sections:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.

EXPECTED RESULTS
*

ACTUAL RESULTS
*

AFFECTS
* images
  * Lubuntu amd64/i386 starting 20150316
* hardware
  *

DOES NOT AFFECT
* images
  * Xubuntu (correct?)
* hardware
  *

Fill in the blanks, of course. Just get rid of what was there before. It
will be archived.

From what we have found on the other bug, it seems that it only affects
Lubuntu (though MATE and Kylin haven't been tested, for example).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1432843] Re: Lubuntu failed to boot

2015-04-13 Thread Walter Lapchynski
Note here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-cdimage/+bug/1441843 that
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers is missing most of its drivers due to the
fact that most, if not all, of the xserver-xorg-video-* packages are
missing. My guess is that this is the problem: they're not in the
manifest! Compare
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/15.04/beta-1/lubuntu-15.04-beta1
-desktop-amd64.manifest with
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/15.04/beta-2/lubuntu-15.04-beta2
-desktop-amd64.manifest. Interesting that this works for anyone!

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1366661] Re: Xorg freeze

2015-04-13 Thread Luiz
Hi Christopher,

I have a desktop with a nvidia gtx 780ti and i don't have any problem with
nvidia proprietary drivers, no NVIDIA HAS FALLEN.

With my gtx 580m i have a lot of problem, but with nouveau drivers there is
no problem.

With gtx 580m, i tested with lastest kernel and nvidia drivers. KDE, GNOME,
and no success.

With WINDOWS the problem occurs too.

Maybe it can be a hardware problem, but if it was nouveau driver would
crash too.

Thanks

Luiz

christopher.m.penal...@gmail.com:

 Luiz, testing 12.04.5 is equivalent to testing Trusty, as they share the
 same kernel and xorg stack. You would have to test 12.04.0 to test the
 original Precise kernel and xorg stack.

 ** Description changed:

   My system freezes always while i am playing cs source dust2 map. The
   system shutdown and a see a message in logs: nvidia has fallen off bus.

   I search for another relevant information without success.

   I am using kernel 3.10.54 with nvidia 331.89 proprietary driver.

 - Some people said nouveau doesnt has a crash like that, so maybe it is
 - the only solution...

 - Any help is welcome.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1443538] [NEW] mouse pointer invisible/disappears

2015-04-13 Thread kenjo
Public bug reported:

Only way to get it back is reboot.

If I switch to another VT and run xinit -- :1 I have a mouse on that
X server but still no on the original one.

Also since xinit only starts a single xterm and when I type in that
xterm the mouse pointer gets invisible until I move the mouse my guess
is that the mouse is always invisible is a problem with the X server
and not with say unity.

I have a mac book pro using only the intel driver.

Is there any command I can use to force the pointer to be visible again
?? this has happened several times now and is starting to be a real
problem.

happen and return to the login screen.

This also happens to me on a laptop with 15.04 installed on it. A quick
test seems to indicate that it happens when I select the NVIDIA card
from the nvidia-settings control panel. When I choose to use Intel
integrated graphics, the mouse cursor works as expected.
