[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1444436] Re: [BDW GT3] Backport fixes to unbreak X
Hello Timo, or anyone else affected, Accepted xserver-xorg-video-intel into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /xserver-xorg-video-intel/2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1.5 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1444436] Re: [BDW GT3] Backport fixes to unbreak X
@girisha: if you're OK to have last packages from proposed-updates you may follow instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed to easily test the new package. In my case I just realize that I had previously upgraded to Utopic graphics stack so my curent package is xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts- utopic (2:2.99.914-1~exp1ubuntu4.2~trusty1) and no more xserver-xorg- video-intel (2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1.4). If anybody with trusty original's graphic stack can test the new package (ubuntu1.5) (maybe trying to force ut with dpkg, if you don't want to enable all proposed-updates, but at your own risks). Also if a new xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts-utopic proposed package is release I will try it on my system as descrive above. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/136 Title: [BDW GT3] Backport fixes to unbreak X To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/136/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1444946] [NEW] no launchpad, dash, just background on desktop
Public bug reported: I can run Ubuntu 14.10 from the live dvd. i installed this same os and it worked a few times. now, every time i turn off my laptop and boot up the os i get a blank screen with no dash, launchpad, nothing. I haven't found a solution to this in 14.10, but i tried the solutions with the older os. example: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install --reinstall ubuntu Desktop sudo apt-get instal unity sudo shutdown -r now also: rm rf.compiz-1 (this did nothing, so i changed the command to the following) rm -r -f compiz-1 (this would work for that session, but when i shut down my computer and booted it back up i would get the same problem, no dash, launchpad, just blank screen.) i tried the same command in the terminal (rm -r -f compiz-1) and it would work for that session. this temporary fix worked a few times, then it stopped working and i went back to no dash, just blank screen. i also tried: sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager Display =:0 ccsm this got me to the unity manager. the unity plugin was already enabled. i rebooted and i had the dash. after i shutdown and booted up the os later, i had no dash, just plain background. i finally went and downloaded linuxmint 17.1 running it from the live dvd and i had the same problem, just the background with no dash. i'm new to linux so i am only doing commands from what i see at :askubuntu.com also, i think i have a man-in-the-middle attack. i tried to set up privatetunnel with no success. my system is an old toshiba laptop satellite with 80 GB of HDD and 2 GB RAM. i know ubuntu 15.04 is coming out this month and i will definetly try that. I want to stay with linux so any help with this problem will be appreciated. I'm currently running from the live dvd and i will again try to reinstall ubuntu 14.10 and if i get the dash i will leave my computer on so i don't loose it, or until i can get a permanent fix for this issue. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1445018] [NEW] Graphics issue, IntelHD
Public bug reported: Hey, I've stumbled into an issue after upgrading from Ubuntu 14.04 to Ubuntu 14.10. My resolution is forced into 1280x768 and there are no other options. After furiously Googling for the last 3 days, I've resorted to asking the community in the hopes that they can help me. Running `apt-cache policy xorg` returns ``` xorg: Installed: 1:7.7+1ubuntu8.1 Candidate: 1:7.7+7ubuntu2 Version table: 1:7.7+7ubuntu2 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ utopic/main amd64 Packages *** 1:7.7+1ubuntu8.1 0 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ``` I have 2 monitors - the primary one built into my laptop (Acer Aspire 5749 - normally running 1368x768) and a slave connected via VGA (a generic Dell - normally running 1280x1024). Since updating, when checking in System Settings - Screen Display, only 1 monitor is detected (the built-in). However, if I plug in the slave screen, they're mirrored but the settings still only declare 1 screen exists (when booting, or when logged in) I believe this *might* be a graphic driver issue, but Software Updates - Additional Drivers shows absolutely nothing. All of Canonical and Ubuntu's sources have been enabled and still, nothing can be found. This still does not work out of the box on a fresh install of 14.04.2 with all updates from the default repositories. What are the steps to install fglrx-amdcccle-updates? Any deviations from post #80? Why does anything from later versions get backported to LTS, anyway? Seems like that defeats the whole purpose of LTS releases. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1414930] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad 2015 models] Buttons of Synaptics trackpad doesn't work

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1414930] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad 2015 models] Buttons of Synaptics trackpad doesn't work
It's not one patch but a series of seven patches which depend on other functionality to be backported.. The prep patches have been accepted to the next 3.13 point release which will be released next week. Then that will be merged with the trusty git tree, and the actual patches can be added. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 883319]
With the proliferation of hidpi laptops having scale properly working is becoming more important since it is the only way of using embedded and external displays with a decent experience. I do not know for what keystone is used these days but, maybe we could consider breaking it in favor of scale? We can't wait until Wayland + al Compositors to implement scaling imho. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1445213] Re: X crashes every~2 hours of use
Installing the xorg-edgers stack ** Description changed: I am running Ubuntu Gnome 14.04LTS and I can leave my desktop on for about 2 hours before the desktop stops responding. I can move the mouse on the screen, if there was music playing before, I can keep listening to it, and I can get into my system using SSH. All of the windows, however, freeze and the activities menu doesn't even respond. This happened after I updated my kernel/driver stack a couple of days ago (probably sunday-ish). I can give any other info you need and do whatever additional steps are required. + + + [EDIT] I am using the open source drivers. + Attached as crash.txt the crash data that I receive when it crashes.
