[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1446127] Re: Ittermittantly left mouse button stops on all attached mice

2015-04-27 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Chris Giltnane, could you please test the latest upstream kernel
available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release
names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily
folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will
allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into
the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test
the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where XY and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.

** Description changed:

Raising this defect whilst mouse is working and will update as soon as
soon as it happens again. I have xdiagnose installed. when the problem
occurs both track pad and attached usb mouse keys stop working. If your
on the desktop it gives the appearance of the mouse key permanently
being held down rather than not registering the click, as the cursor
seem to be doing the select area indication.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1448937] [NEW] LibreOffice has serious kerning issues with characters' display of font, bold, italic

2015-04-27 Thread stijn
Public bug reported:

I run in to distorted text in LibreOffice, depending on zoom level. At
first I thought it was a LO-bug, but now I have found that I don't get
this issues when I run the AMD proprietary driver (fglrx). So I think it
might be a problem in the xserver-xorg-video-ati driver. I have a Radeon
HD 8600M series in a Lenovo S540.

The attached file shows an example of the bug that I had in Calc. The
bottom right is the 'normal' text. Three lines, with the bottom one in
bold. Depending on the zoom level, the text is distorted in many ways:
bold / italic / font (appearance).

Some extra information:
-This happens in all LO-apps I use: Calc, Writer, Impress.
-I don't have a clear way of reproducing it. The apps normally start out
perfectly fine. After a while this can happen, not always. Risk factors seem to
include having multiple LO-files open, especially between different apps.
-It is not always that the 100% zoom level is ok. That can be distorted too.
-This never ever happens in any other app / program I use.

If this is unlikely to be caused by the xserver-xorg-video-ati driver, I
apologize for reporting it here. If you need additional information,
please let me know, I will be happy to provide.

Required info:
1) Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS
2) xserver-xorg-video-ati Installed: 1:7.3.0-1ubuntu3.1

** Description changed:

Raising this defect whilst mouse is working and will update as soon as
soon as it happens again. I have xdiagnose installed. when the problem
occurs both track pad and attached usb mouse keys stop working. If your
on the desktop it gives the appearance of the mouse key permanently
being held down rather than not registering the click, as the cursor
seem to be doing the select area indication.

a bug in tint2, but now I have found that I don't get this issues when I
run the AMD proprietary driver (fglrx). So I think it might be a problem
in the xserver-xorg-video-ati driver. I have a Radeon HD 8600M series in
a Lenovo S540.

Additional note: when it does not display and I power off the computer,
it is displayed for a brief moment before the computer shuts down. That
makes me think that it is actually a display problem, not a problem of
tint2 not booting at all.

If this is unlikely to be caused by the xserver-xorg-video-ati driver, I
apologize for reporting it here. If you need additional information,
please let me know, I will be happy to provide.

Required info:
1) Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS
2) xserver-xorg-video-ati Installed: 1:7.3.0-1ubuntu3.1

Tried to boot from freshly created live cd, and received the same error.
So it looks like it is not corelated to configuration of my computer,
but rather an Ubuntu itself.

Can I have some help how to at least try to find a source of this error?
Or any workaround for similar bug to look at?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1448865] [NEW] System doesn't boot with systemd, upstart mode is ok

2015-04-27 Thread Eric Fournie
Public bug reported:

After successful upgrade from kubuntu 14.10 to 15.04, the system hangs during
boot and never reaches the login screen. When grub menu entry Ubuntu, with
Linux 3.19.0-15-generic (upstart) is selected, the system boots normally.
It turns out that the /etc/fstab uuids for the / and swap partitions are not
correct. Once corrected and set to the values from /dev/disk/by-uuid/, booting
is possible using systemd.

fstab had been edited manually in the past but there were no problems
until the upgrade to 15.04.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1448913] [NEW] (Chrome-based?) applications having display problems

2015-04-27 Thread Michał
Public bug reported:

Please see the attached screenshot.

Recently Chrome and the desktop Spotify client (which I believe is
Chromium-based) are having trouble displaying their contents, especially
in low-memory situations. When I restart Chrome and open only a few tabs
it behaves ok, but when I get into a 2 profiles, 10+ tabs situation it
starts behaving badly. On very low memory situations it keeps trying to
refresh the display and is not usable at all.

All other apps are fine. I'm using 2 DVI + 1 HDMI displays.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1449167] [NEW] xorg crashes when loading zynaddsubfx (X11 arc rendering bug)

2015-04-27 Thread Umcaruje
Public bug reported:

This bug also exists in Arch linux. It seems that Xorg crashes whenever
an arc is drawn. I talked to the main dev of Zyn and he said that its a
Xorg bug. I also turned off the knob drawing procedure in the source and
the crashes stopped.

This is a relevant patch: http://marc.info/?l=freedesktop-xorg-
develm=142850468414906w=3

When I open Zyn, my screen turns black and around 20 seconds later my
login screen shows up.

I hope you can fix this problem.

Best Regards,
Umcaruje

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1448797] Re: Grpahic issue

2015-04-27 Thread Steve Beattie
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1392887] Re: serial wacom devices gone after upgrade to utopic/14.10

2015-04-27 Thread joseph sochet
Workaround is nice, but it interferes with package manager if one
removes wacom xserver input. So the workaround, makes removing,
upgrading and reinstalling packages a little difficult if and when a fix
is issued.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1448696] Re: bugy

2015-04-27 Thread Steve Beattie
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your
report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can
better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it.

Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For
help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally,
in the report please include:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System -
About Ubuntu.
2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by
checking in Synaptic.
3) What happened and what you expected to happen.

The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide
variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures .
Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make
your bug report much more complete. Thanks!
