[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1455127] [NEW] [xorg-edgers] screen freezes while audio playback is still active

2015-05-14 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter

The issue seems to occur randomly and has been experienced 5 times
over last ~3 weeks. If it does there's no reaction for 10 minutes

kbdCtrl/kbd+kbdAlt/kbd+kbdF[N]/kbd doesn't work while the
audio playback (in `vlc` 2.2.0) continues over the whole 10 minutes.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1455132] [NEW] libdrm2 update causes xorg freeze with r128 driver

2015-05-14 Thread Carl Carlsen
Public bug reported:

Using Ubuntu's stable 14.04 branch; X.Org X Server 1.15.1; Ati Rage R128 module
v. 6.9.2
, on restart after updating libdrm2 to version libdrm2_2.4.60-2~ubuntu14.04
xorg froze immediately after a reboot;
Upon closer inspection, I was able to switch out to a virtual console, after
pressing the appropriate keys, but only after a very unusually long delay. In
another attempt starting Xorg I noticed that it seemed something was actually
rendered, even if just a single frame in a few minutes..

Downgrading libdrm2 to version 2.4.52-1 restored Xorg to its usual
behavior; therefore libdrm2 seems the likely culprit of this problem,
which perhaps only occurs in conjunction with the usage of this not very
common r128 module

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1455208] [NEW] firefox crashes on sketchup.com with nvidia-304 on 10de:03d0 [GeForce 6150SE nForce 430]

2015-05-14 Thread Ryan Tandy
Public bug reported:

Browsing to sketchup.com reliably crashes Firefox 37 and 38 in Vivid and
Trusty when running nvidia-304 on a GeForce 6150SE. I'm guessing it's
because of the WebGL canvas on the front page. Nouveau on the same GPU
does not crash (however the canvas contains only garbage); neither does
nvidia-304 on more recent hardware (e.g. GT 210).

No backtrace right now because I couldn't figure how to stop Firefox's
crash reporter from eating it. I'll try again in a bit.

2015-05-14 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Erich, or anyone else affected,

Accepted xserver-xorg-video-intel into utopic-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/xserver-xorg-video-intel/2:2.99.914-1~exp1ubuntu4.4 in a few hours, and
then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1455157] Re: Xorg freeze

2015-05-14 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1322925] Re: [SRU] Copy, paste stops working randomly in Ubuntu 14.04 nautilus

2015-05-14 Thread Mike
I just installed Ubuntu 15.04 RTM, and faced out with multiple problems
with the copying files from HDD to USB flash-drive.

1. Not all files copied! You can't be sure that all what you selected is really
copied.
2. You can delete folders in USB drive (Directory is not empty).
3. The copied files are corrupted sometimes.
4. You can't even formate the drive.
5. The progress bar of the copying process moves very quickly, but after this
window disappears, you have to wait until this process will be really finished
(in background), e.g. if you try to unmount/safely remove USB, you'll get the
warning, that the drive is still busy or something like that.

Non of described above issue doesn't happen with the same USB drive on
Windows or on Fedora 21, thus it seems to be an Ubuntu specific case.

P.S. I'm in shock that this kind of critical issue is not fixed for
during one year and even new releases (14.10 LTS, 15.04) comes with such
extremely important bug, when you can't rely on OS in the data copying
process.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1455002] [NEW] Thinkpad x200t backlight settings

2015-05-14 Thread EricDHH
Public bug reported:

ubuntu 15.04 AMD64

Howto reproduce this bug that did not exist up to ubuntu 14.10

Set your required backlight power with the Fn-Keys and shutdown the
machine. Now bootup again, the login screen and your desktop is on
lowest backlight power that can be set, maybe you have to lower the
light to see your display. You have to power the backlight up with the
Fn-Keys after login., but this will not survive next shutdown.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1454989] Re: Freeze after boot

2015-05-14 Thread anders
It is not a kernel freeze because I can press ctrlf1 and login to
the terminal, but X is unusable.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1453306] Re: Xorg freeze

2015-05-14 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
John Ioannidis, could you please test the latest upstream kernel
available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release
names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily
folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will
allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into
the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test
the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where XY and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.

** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) = linux (Ubuntu)
